...Sean Danial Warner POV's....
Franda had been reluctant to greet me since yesterday afternoon we were arguing over the matter of psychiatrists until this morning we sat in the living room waiting for Mom and Mia to finish packing. He spent time playing with Ben because today Ben, Mom, Edward, and Mia have to go back to Indonesia and will come again next week.
We were just about to get in the car when I heard my phone ringing in my jeans pocket. My hand reached into pocket and found Dave's name on the phone screen. Alisku. Dave hasn't called me in person during the week I've been in Queensland, usually just texting or emailing. If now he's calling me directly, then make sure something's wrong is going on.
I turned Franda, she was standing right next to the car door. His hand had touched the handle and I hurriedly handed him the key. "Dave called. I'll talk to him for a while." I murmured. Franda cuckoo, she took the key from me and jumped right into the car.
"Yes, Dave. What's up?" I asked while walking a bit away from the car.
"Hey, buddy. I haven't heard anything from you since you left... Are you all right?" There was something in his tone.
"Yes, some things happen, but everything is still safe." I said.
Dave sounded out breathing. "Thank God. Looks like you're not bothered by the hot news here."
"What do you mean?" manya suspect.
"Oh my God, don't you know yet?" surprised reply. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your show, but I think you already know."
A few seconds later my phone vibrated, and I quickly opened the message Dave had sent.
I opened a link to an online news story with a picture of Mia with a man I knew very well. They spoke very closely while holding hands, anyone who saw it would inevitably be prejudiced. I started reading the title.
...A Mayor Teases Each Other With Sister-in-law Owner Warner Enterprise. The New Scandal of the Mayor Who Became a Community Role?...
Motherfucker!
I put my phone back in my ear and heard Dave's voice trying to calm me down, but I couldn't understand anything he was saying.
"Who spread this stupid news? God, why did you just tell me now, damn it!" my spray.
"I'm sorry, I think you already know. After all, I don't have time to gossip. You're the one who gave me the job piling up and I'm almost crazy about your company." - exasperated, self-defense.
I know his words are right. But, asshole. This article is really...
"Maybe Mia will have to stay there longer, ignore it and the rumors will subside in a few days. As usual" he suggested.
I sighed in frustration while closing my eyes. "Yes, Dave. We both know that, but Franda doesn't."
My feet stepped back into the car thinking how to convey this matter to them. Oh my God.. Why is there always a new problem coming?
In the car, I was silent for a while until I gasped at Franda's voice. "What's wrong?" his murmuring was gentle, making me somewhat calm.
I turned to her at a glance, then threw a look back, looking at mom, Mia, and Ed alternately. And now my eyes are focused on Mia. "Mia," I sighed. "Can you stay here longer? I think Franda needs a friend while waiting for my other friends to come visit." Shit, I shouldn't have Franda as an excuse. He'll curse me all out after this.
I cringe. "For a while I'll ask Dave to take care of your shop, Mia. It won't be long.just a week." My eyebrows shot up in lightning, implying a slight threat with my eyes. I can't possibly tell you my reasons in front of mom, what else Edward is. He would be very angry if he knew this. I was relieved to have sent Dave a message to get him to pull all the news about Mia before getting into the car.
Now it was Mia's turn to frown. He looked suspiciously at me, and I just moved my head in response. "Alright," he said resignedly. "But only a week. I can't leave my shop for too long, I have to make sure everything is to my liking." he continued.
I breathed a sigh of relief. "Yes, a week is enough."
I turned back to face forward, drove the car at moderate speed without daring to turn Franda. Lucky Mom and Edward didn't ask anything just now, because my reasons are pretty reasonable.
After making sure Mom, Edward, and Ben got on the plane, I drove off at high speed and headed straight for the forest house. I think it's better to discuss Mia's problem there, besides being more calm, I can also be more free to ask Mia.
Goddamnit!
I grumbled in my heart the whole way. Not a second to turn my eyes to Franda who I believe is astonished at this time. I was grateful that he could hold his mouth back from speaking while in the car, as I was confused on how to convey this matter to him myself.
Arriving at the forest house, I let Franda and Mia down first while I brainwashed, putting together the words I deserved to get out. There's no way I can cover up Mia's case from Franda, she will definitely ask me constantly about the reason I'm holding Mia longer with us.
"There's something I want to tell you, Mia." I said starting as I was sitting on a wooden chair in the living room, overtaking those who sat there first.
I sat down beside Franda and heaved a sigh of relief when I found her look momentarily softened. She wore a simple short nude-colored dress with no sleeves, and let her wavy long hair down her back. Other than her slightly pale face, she looked beautiful as usual. Her skin was as smooth as marble and did not use makeup, not that she was embracing it as well.
I switched to Mia. "It's about your relationship with the mayor" I said without further ado.
Mia flinched in shock, as well as Franda. But the surprised expression I caught on Franda's face was beyond my expectations. Before I thought he would be shocked to death and then react like a shocker, but this is not. He just jumped for a glance then his face returned glum looking at me. Wait, does she already know the man who impregnated Mia?
Mia bit her lips, her hands clinging restlessly to her lap. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to embarrass you." He said grimly.
Watching his head bowed in lethargy, I realized that there was one thing I should do for him if I really cared about him. Public pressure. That's what makes me lazy to appear in public, and even now Mia is experiencing it. Being the center of attention of the crowd is not a fun thing, what else is the news spread is something embarrassing.
I thrust my phone at Mia. His mouth was open wide. "Oh my God." his sigh trembled, and he soon wept bitterly.
Franda moved to the side of Mia, followed by looking at the phone screen. This time, her reaction was not much different from Mia's. Shaking, then crying.
Mia should not take the risk lightly to be in a relationship with Taka, because in addition to the man who is married, she is also famous and journalists never stop highlighting her life. And now inevitably, Mia will be in the public spotlight. People would monitor everything he did, and obviously they would never stop.
After a moment of crying, Mia raised her head to look at me, while Franda hugged her. "What if Ed and Mom find out about this?" I smiled, at least she was still worried about mom even though she should be the one to worry about.
"Dave will organize the news" I said. "Just pray he does it quickly before they arrive in Jakarta."
"Can you explain to me what's going on?" my connection. As much as possible it does not show that I am disappointed with his attitude.
Mia sighed, "It just happened, I didn't even have time to realize that we've gone too far, me..." He cried again, sounding even more miserable than before.
I massaged the temple for a moment. It was very uncomfortable to watch someone sob like that in front of me, even though this was not the first time I saw a woman crying.
