CHAPTER 2: Hemachandra's Speech
Meanwhile, in the hospital, Hemachandra, who was still in her daughter's room, continued to hold tightly to the pale hand, without saying a word.
Ardiaz was nowhere to be seen, as he chose to go out and give his father-in-law time to be with his wife.
He sat on the bench in front of Evangeline's ward, preparing his heart to face what his in-laws would do to him.
After waiting for quite a while, the door suddenly opened. Hemachandra is seen standing behind the door and asking her daughter-in-law to come inside.
“Come in, Son,”.
Ardiaz hesitantly followed the in-laws. He closed the door again before walking back to Evangeline's bed.
Hemachandra was seen sitting in the chair next to her daughter, just like before. While Ardiaz, he stood across, and grabbed the hand of the woman who had just lost her fetus.
“Are you okay?” ask Hemachandra later.
Ardiaz immediately turned his head to look at his father-in-law. His forehead creased in surprise, not knowing that it was the words that came out of the mouth of the man, who had handed his only daughter to the chief of the bodyguards.
Hemachandra turned her head and looked back at Ardiaz, with a thin smile that was reviewed.
“We're all very worried about you, son. Is everything okay now?” ask again.
It immediately made Ardiaz's eyes water, and without feeling a few drops of tears slid smoothly on the cheeks of the man with the firm face line.
He was bowed, with a clenched hand squeezing the fringe of the wife's blanket. Her body shook violently after hearing what her in-laws had just said.
“I'm sorry... I'm sorry..,” is the only sentence that Ardiaz can say.
Hemachandra grabbed her daughter-in-law's hand and patted the burly man's arm gently, as if calming down the sobbing Ardiaz.
“Nothing to forgive. Everything has happened. Most importantly, you can return safely. Now, we pray that Eva comes to her senses soon,” Hemachandra said full of wisdom.
Ardiaz doesn't know what else to do. The man in front of him was truly someone with a broad heart.
When her only daughter is in a critical post-surgery condition, she encourages the man who has brought her into danger.
As Ardiaz was still sobbing, he suddenly felt Evangeline's fingers touching her hands.
It also made Ardiaz immediately stop his crying and pay attention to the condition of the wife.
Sure enough, he saw Evangeline's eyelids move, with her eyelashes fluttering.
“Eva... Eva, are you conscious?” said it.
“Di... Az...,” call it weak.
Ardiaz who felt called immediately brought his face closer to Evangeline's ears.
“Eva, it's me, Diaz. I'm here,” said Ardiaz while continuing to hold the wife's hand.
“Di... Az...,” call Evangeline again.
The father immediately pressed the emergency button next to the bed, so that the medical team immediately came and checked the condition of his daughter.
Before long, a doctor and two nurses came, and asked the two men to come out first.
Ardiaz was reluctant to let go of his wife's hand, but her in-laws tried to persuade her to give the medical team room to check on Evangeline's condition.
Finally, inevitably the man also released his grip from the hands of the wife, and went out to follow her in-laws.
“Tenace. Eva will definitely be fine,” Hemachandra said.
