CHAPTER 2: A Secret
After all was gone, the Joker stood up and walked towards the door. He locked it from the inside, so that no one would interrupt their conversation.
Before entering the room, everyone had been searched, and all weapons had been stripped away to avoid any bad possibilities.
After the Joker locked the door, Devonshire got up and walked to the back, where there was a large painting of five horses, with a white horse leading in front.
The painting symbolizes an Emperor, followed by four King in favor later. If you notice, there are two eagles flying in the sky, which signifies another supporter, whose role is invisible but whose existence is very important like Vermont.
Under the painting, there is a bookcase and also a statue of Liberty. Devonshire is seen rotating the statue, until the painting is lifted up, and disappears behind the ceiling.
Looks like a box like a safe, but quite large than usual size.
The man then turned the combination lock open, and saw a small screen behind the safe.
Under the screen, there is a small drawer, which is stored an obsolete brown map, and taken by Devonshire.
He placed the map on the bookshelf, and pressed the power button on the screen.
Automatically, a vidio plays there.
Jordan, who was not interested at first, is now seen to straighten his back with eyes that look staring seriously.
The veins around his eyes even seemed to stiffen, seeing what appeared first on the screen.
“Dad..,” murmured.
On the hidden screen, a vidio appeared where his father was in a room, which he remembered was the Emperor's room first.
Little Jordan often asked to sleep in his father's place, so he was familiar with all kinds of ornaments that were there.
But what makes him look serious is the condition of the father. The previous Emperor looked like he was undergoing a treatment, with an oxygen mask covering part of his face.
He sat leaning against the head board, looking straight at the camera. Beside him was an infusion hose and a device that poked from behind his clothes, and connected with an ECG device that was also at the bedside.
He walked closer and looked closely at the father's face.
He remembered it was his father's face. However, Jordan felt there was something different about his father's condition.
“Father had an accident, due to sabotage from someone. The Joker, who survived the crash, came looking for me and asked to come home soon,” Devonshire said.
Jordan looked straight at the older brother with a frown, then turned back to the video of the father.
Devonshire, who saw the confusion in the eyes of his sister, finally gave the map to the genius hacker.
“In it is my father's medical record, and also his last letter he wrote to you,” Devonshire said.
Jordan breaking. He immediately grabbed the map and looked at the contents.
He was again taken aback, seeing the date of his father's death that was much different from the date the accident occurred.
“Dad didn't die on the spot. The Joker secured the father's condition and immediately sought medical help. He was looking for me, because he wanted me to hold the position of Emperor, while waiting for my father to recover, as well as secure your existence. But your departure actually makes his condition worse,” phrase Devonshire.
“Why didn't you ever tell me? Why did papa bear just take me away from here and help me hide from you?” cecar Jordan was upset by what his brother had just revealed.
