Ever since seeing his wife in front of him, Ardiaz kept trying to make him aware. He was really worried about Evangeline's condition.
The various ways he tried, from shouting, ringing the chains that bound him to make noise, and the new thought was to splash water on his face.
He saw some parts of the floor that were filled with puddles of rain, and one of them was near his feet.
With great difficulty, Ardiaz tried to grab the deep enough puddle, then tried to kick the water towards Evangeline, hoping it could hit the wife.
In the first experiment, Ardiaz was only able to reach a puddle without being able to kick the water. Second, he could kick the water, but only up to Evangeline's feet.
The third, Ardiaz could not even reach it because his legs slipped and felt cramps.
He grimaced with pain in his leg muscles for a while. After feeling better, she tried the same thing again.
In the fourth experiment, Ardiaz managed to kick the water and hit Evangeline's head. Only, the spark was still not too strong.
It was only in the fifth experiment, Ardiaz managed to kick the water in a puddle quite a lot and back hit his wife's head.
However, he again felt a cramp that really made him have to stop until here.
Suddenly, his eyes widened with a frown furrowing upwards, when he saw a movement from the wife.
Evangeline seemed to be shaking her head slowly, plus a soft moaning sound that came out of the woman's mouth.
“Eva... Eva, it's me, Ardiaz. Eva, you can hear me, right?” tanya Ardiaz tried to communicate with his wife.
Hearing someone call out to him, Evangeline raised her face even though the dizziness was still attacking.
He seemed to blink his eyes, and again closed them tightly because of the glare of a single lamp that was directly above his head.
“Eva, it's me, Ardiaz. Eva,” call Ardiaz once again.
Evangeline tried again to see who called her. She tried to make sure that it was really Ardiaz, her husband.
“Diaz, is that you?” ask her in a weak voice.
“Eva, can you see me? It's me, baby. I'm here,” says Ardiaz.
Finally, after successfully opening her eyes wide, Evangeline could see her husband's face even though it wasn't so clear.
However, he was able to recognize the man's stature and voice, because however more than half of his life, he spent with Ardiaz.
“Diaz, where are we? Why are you bound like me?” cecar Evangeline's.
The girl looks panicked when she realizes her condition and the husband is not doing well.
Seeing the panic on his wife's face, Ardiaz spoke again, trying to calm the woman down.
“Eva... Honey, relax. Nothing will happen to us. You calm down, okay?” persuade Ardiaz.
“But... But... Where is this, Diaz? Who brought us here?” ask Evangeline again.
“You don't need to know. Most importantly, find a way to get out of here. You need to calm down, understand?” ardiaz.
Evangeline looks down. His shoulders shook, a sign that he was sobbing.
Seeing that, made Ardiaz feel worried about the psychic condition of the wife.
“Eva, are you crying? Look at me, Eva,” pinta Ardiaz.
Evangeline raised her face. It was clear that a clear melt was beginning to fill that beautiful face.
“I... I'mfrightened... Diaz...” he said staggered.
Ardiaz really felt tightness in his chest, when he saw his wife scared like that.
He remembered when they were young, when Evangeline and herself had to be in Hemachandra's big house alone, in the middle of the storm that hit Wisteria.
Flashbacks
The electricity went out and the air was so cold. Everyone left because the company was experiencing a busy life caused by the global crisis that occurred in that year.
Incidentally, at that time Morita there was a need that made him permission to leave the mansion, although in fact he went with Aaron, accompanying Ardiaz's brother on a business trip.
Back then, only he was at home with Evangeline. Although he and the woman always did not get along, but his duties as a bodyguard should always be near his master.
Especially Hemachandra who already considers it as a family, and make him feel responsible for Evangeline.
That night, he did not see the girl in the dining room when mealtime arrived, until Ardiaz went upstairs and tried to call her out.
However, Evangeline did not want to go out and did not even answer his call. Finally, the young Ardiaz dared to open the door, and saw that it was so dark in the room.
There was only a lighted candle emitting light there. This was strange, considering how unhappy Evangeline was with the darkness.
He didn't even want to sleep with just one sleeping light on, because it would only make it difficult to fall asleep.
Evangeline, sitting on her bed hugging her knees with a blanket that covers all the way to her head, left only her face visible.
As Ardiaz approached, it was clear the girl was crying. Usually, when Evangeline cries alone, she will hold her voice until no one hears, but when she sees someone's presence, her cries will get louder and make the ears hurt.
Ardiaz is very upset that Evangeline is like that, because he thinks it really sucks.
Not without reason, because of the nature of Evangeline who always wanted to be alone, often the cry was only as a tool so that his desire was passed by the father or anyone who faced him.
However, at that moment he saw the girl just silently staring at him while holding back her cries. Her tears continued to flood her face.
It was then that Ardiaz felt full of seeing the other side of Evangeline, which he thought was so fragile. Young Ardiaz felt sorry to see the girl who always sucks it looks so sad.
He approached and approached his master's daughter. Ardiaz reached out and gently rubbed the top of Evangeline's head.
The girl looked up at the young man in front of her. Suddenly, he opened his blanket and hugged Ardiaz's waist who was still standing beside the bed.
His shoulders were shaking more and more, a sign that he was crying again, even if only a sobbing was heard.
“I'm scared. It is very dark here,” he said softly in between his sobs.
“It's okay. I'm already here. You have nothing to fear,” said young Ardiaz.
Ardiaz patted the girl on the back, trying to calm her down. He finally decided to accompany Evangeline there, until the girl calmed down.
He didn't say much and just stayed there with the girl, letting Evangeline continue to hug her waist.
Evangeline fell asleep, tired of crying, and missed her dinner. So too with himself.
FLASHBACK ENDS...
Back to the present, where they were in a former warehouse that was so dark, and only illuminated a lamp in a room.
Ardiaz knew how scared his wife was right now. Looking at the trembling Evangeline, it made her so eager to immediately break away from the bond and hug her tightly, rubbing her back and reassuring that all was well.
He was not even aware that the fellow beside him had been staring fixedly at Evangeline, with a different look.
Mac Duff's eyes even shook when Ardiaz gently called Evangeline affectionately.
There was a pain that suddenly struck his chest, but was immediately pushed aside by the Duke quickly. He realized this was not the time to be weird.
The man refocused on something above his head, which made the chains that pulled his body flinch.
