FIEF WAR(2)

Honore is a major city in the western region of Otilia. The city is actually not very big when compared to the County Capital of Otilia, Revouille.

The population of Honore City is estimated at 7,000 people, much less than the City of Revouille which has a population of 61,300 people. With that small amount, the defense of the city is certainly not too maximal. The walls that became the defense of the city were only formed from chunks of stone arranged and some were even made of wood.

Currently 3,200 soldiers had just exited the city gate. They're all headed north.

Surely as the heir to the title of countess, Clotildy led an entire army. As for Alex and Regis just being independent groups that lead the troops in small numbers. Nevertheless, with the presence of various great people in the group, of course, no one is underestimating.

The northern region is an area that is currently not fully touched by enemy forces.

Sooner or later, the area will fall. The reason Clotildy led the troops north instead of south, was because when compared to the north, the concentration of settlements in the north was much higher than the south.

The southern region has not experienced too deep exploration while the northern region although not as advanced as the western or eastern region but the northern region can be said to have a fairly solid economy.

After several days of marching, they arrived at a settlement. It was town .

But today the city looks different.

The wooden fort and the gate were damaged. In addition, the flag of the nobility of Otilia that was supposed to fly in the watchtower is now replaced by a foreign flag.

In their current state they were aware that the city had fallen into the hands of the enemy.

Clotildy led a meeting in a command tent attended by nobles including Otto and even Barnard.

"My Lord, I advise to give an attack at night. Doing an attack in the evening will cause casualties that are not small. Not only that, we also do not know whether there are prisoners of war in the city or not" Otto said.

Otto had a lot of experience in war. His advice is certainly valuable and worth considering.

"I agree with Sir Fertiphile. Night raids are much more effective if we attack especially with our army too few" Regis said.

Both Regis and Otto had experience in the war, and both men shared the same view, so Otto's advice should have been easily accepted.

"My Lords, I permission ask. If night raids are aimed at reducing risk, then don't we have adventurers? Moreover, those adventurers had quite a high rank for their circles."

As a nobleman, Victor considered the degree of adventurer not equal to him who was a noble. So even when he mentioned the adventurers, he did not use any title of respect. Even when it came to them, he did not glance at Barnard who was the chief adventurer here. He only looked at the great nobles like Clotildy, Regis, and Alex.

There is silence in this room.

They were not unwilling to use adventurers but they had a reason not to use them or rather could not use them.

It was because the adventurers who were together with them were called on behalf of Alex that the one who was able to command the adventurers was Alex. But because Alex didn't say anything, nobody talked about it.

So you could say that even though Victor did not realize it, he was indirectly the one who managed to lift the burden in the hearts of everyone, especially Clotildy.

Alex, who had been silent, finally spoke.

"Esteemed Adventurers are the most powerful people in this legion or it could be said that they are the elite team of the soldiers here. If you use your best team at the beginning of the war it's the same as telling the trump card you have."

Regis and Otto nodded their heads which meant they had similar thoughts.

Victor also just kept silent giving nothing in return.

So in the absence of other denials and suggestions, everyone agreed to carry out surprise attacks at night.

Town of Hurlbarch, County of Otilia

An attack was carried out on a pitch-black night.

An arrow stuck to the head of a guard.

Another attack leads to another.

But unfortunately the attack did not leave a trace.

Although only attacked using an arrow, but the sound of screaming from the victim still echoed.

A soldier realized something was wrong.

When he was in the guard tower, he noticed it.

The guards who were supposed to be standing upright in front of the gate had now been lying motionless on the ground.

Frantically, he hit the warning bell.

"Faster than I thought."

Barnard watching from afar saw the panic of the enemy. Slowly, on each side of the city began to light up with torchlight.

At this time the invading force which was the liberating force from Otilia began to attack in massive numbers.

Most of them were just non-class troops and were even just partisans.

"Uncle, will they succeed?"

Lilac who was standing next to him asked.

Although the question seemed to have concerns but on his face he did not seem to care much.

"It depends on how Young Miss Otilia arranges her soldiers. It was a pity that the Governor and Young Master Morhust did not care much about this attack. "

"So what does it mean that the Lords want to test the Miss's abilities in war?"

Barnard did not answer explicitly. But he agreed with Lilac.

When he was at the meeting place earlier, the grand nobles in particular Alex looked not too interested in this attack. Maybe Regis is still a little concerned with giving some advice. But he did not go further.

Barnard turned his gaze to the place where the great nobles were. Besides Clotildy, she can see that Regis and Alex are just standing still. Even he accidentally saw Regis yawn.

Really, they were too explicit to test Young Miss.

Under these conditions Barnard can make the conclusion that it looks like Alex and Regis want to see how competent these allies are. If Clotildy failed this attack, it was likely meaningless for the two great nobles to help.

The door! The door! The door!

The city was being broken down using a large wooden trunk.

The knights under Clotildy's command tried to defend against attacks that attempted to destroy the battering ram.

The attack went on quickly.

After the wooden gate was finally broken, the attack became easier.

As expected, in the place of enemy troops who have not too many classes so that the conquest of the city can take place smoothly.

In the end the enemy flag was lowered and the flag of the nobility of Otilia fluttered in every corner of the city.

The attack was over and victory was in the hands of Otilia.

Periodically, the soldiers began to search for the prisoners of war.

They went down every warehouse and house.

They found some people. Most of them are people who continue to survive. While the soldiers were most likely to have been wiped out.

But there was one prisoner who surprised everyone.

Among the other captives, he looked much better than the others.

When Clotildy came to see him, she couldn't help but scream.

"Viscount Breakssex!"

The man who was called a great noble now looked pale and unhealthy. But he did not care about his body. When he saw Clotildy, he immediately cried out in despair.

"Young Miss! You're finally back!"

The viscount stood up from his chair, He excitedly and enthusiastically called out the name Clotildy

"Viscount, calm yourself. Recover yourself first."

"No Miss! We have to leave soon! We need to get back to the Countess' place!"

The screams clearly shocked everyone. Especially when they hear the news of birds from every merchant they meet.

"Viscount ... Wh-what do you mean? Hasn't Revouille fallen? Doesn't mean my mom is ...."

"Miss, that's not true. Countess congratulations! My Lady is now in my viscounty. Now we have to go there to collect a counterattack. As long as you and My Lady are alive, there will always be hope of re-establishing the House of Otilia."

The Viscount did not delay the time, he briefly recounted the events of the night before the attack took place in Revouille City.

"That night the whole city was in chaos, the citizens burned and looted the market. His Highness the Countess went to see the incident. I was checking the stockpile of weapons in the warehouse so I wasn't with him at the time so I didn't know the details but I could hear an unusually large explosion outside even to the point of making an earthquake small then a moment later His Highness the Countess appeared out of nowhere before us."

The viscount explained in detail that night.

The countess' condition looks very bad.

"So we were aware that the enemy had successfully entered the city and with the circumstances of Her Highness My Lady Countess that was not okay, she said, me and a few other nobles decided to bring His Highness the Countess and escape the city. But on the way, we were chased by the enemy. So at that moment, for the sake of my Nyonyaku's safety, I faced them to buy time."

Clotildy and the others could only remain silent and continue to hear the viscount's story without any of them cutting off the conversation. Through the words of viscount Breakssex, they realized that the war had now entered a truly bad state.
