The Abandoned Princess

The Abandoned Princess
Sebersit Hope

The next morning the rain had stopped, but the sky was still gray, as if ashes could fall at any moment.

It wasn't bright yet, but Ernie had gone to the kitchen to make breakfast, when it was light, the table was filled with lips and other food. He first knocks on Lucas's room, the door is opened quickly, Lucas comes out with his face pale, perhaps because of Lucas' gloomy eyes, Ernie is shocked to take a step back.

"I'm done making breakfast do you want to call the lady to get up?" Ernie hesitated for a moment, then added, "There's another person in the lady's room who wants to eat too?"

"They're gone." Lucas walked out the door, his eyes falling on Lexie's door, stifling but also resolutely saying: "Let brother sleep for a while longer, let's go eat."

Lucas went to the dining room, he sat down then started burying his head and eating bitterly, he ate 3 bowls of porridge at once, when he wanted to take the 4th bowl, Ernie stopped his hand, "You eat too much, watch out for your stomach to hurt."

"If I don't eat much, how am I going to grow up fast?" Lucas immediately put Ernie's hand away, then started to pick up a bowl.

Ernie stared fixedly at him, but she could not stop him from only looking towards the room where Lexie was to seek help, unfortunately, the room door was closed and there was no sound from inside.

In the afternoon Lexie finally woke up, she looked cold, today she was wearing a thick cotton jacket, in addition to the face that was still open, she completely wrapped herself tightly.

"Sister." Lucas was training the horses in the yard, seeing lexie come out, immediately approached him.

Lexie tidied up her clothes, looking around, "Why is Ernie invisible?"

"I asked him to go buy some chicken." Lucas said.

"Lucas wants to eat yan." Lexie pulls Lucas to sit on a bench in the yard.

Lucas shook his head, walked back and massaged his shoulders, "Chicken soup to strengthen the body, it's for brother."

In an instant Lexie's eyes were already watering, if last night was hell for her, then right now Lexie was lucky enough to be out of hell to see the light of hope.

"Please thank you." Not only thank you for the chicken soup, but also thank you for helping her through the hardest times.

"Sister, don't say thank you again, in the future, we will be able to live very well, one day, we will also be able to escape from that person." Since Lucas was training the horses, his body was warm at the moment, he touched Lexie's hand, finding it cold, rushing to hold Lexie's hand with his small hand.

Lately, the words of Lucas are slowly increasing, although he is still so cold when compared to ordinary children, but much better than before.

This was also the only thing that made Lexie happy.

When Ernie returned she saw Lexie sitting in the courtyard with a cheerful face, as if the person who screamed in pain last night was not her. Ernie wanted to ask her how her employer was doing, but when she wanted to move her lips, she saw Lucas shaking his head, what she wanted to ask was stored in her heart.

Sometimes, the greatest consolation is not to ask with attention, but to just make it and not to ask, perhaps it is the greatest concern.

Ernie is a person who understands, after bowing to both of them she goes to the kitchen to get busy.

The aroma of cooking spread as if everything was still the same as usual, only, there were a few different things.

The only thing that makes Lexie happy is that Victor no longer comes after that night, if not for an all-too-real pain, etched in the depths of his soul, he said, even Lexie could have thought that it was just a terrible nightmare.

In an instant the next few days were the new year, the shops on the street were all inlaid and plastered with trinkets, every night, the little merchant closed his shop more night than usual, people who buy new year items also go home later in the evening on appeal usually.

The house where Lexie and the others lived was not a main street, but a secluded alley, within that alley there were also still quite a few families, as it was about to pass through the New Year, already, every family had put up lanterns early, so that the small alley that had been dark now became brighter.

After dinner, Lexie takes Lucas and Ernie to sit in the yard and eat the cake, but she instead hears someone yelling outside the yard: "Is there anyone inside?"

Lexie looked at her confusedly, they had only moved here in less than half a month, besides Victor not knowing anyone else who was so familiar, Lexie gestured to Ernie, who was not, then Ernie put down her chair and went to open the door.

Outside the door, the slightly fertile middle-aged woman carried a basket and looked inside the door, she reviewed the wide smile on her face, saying, followed by a boy about six or seven years old.

"I'm leman's wife next door, soon to be new year's, I make sticky rice cakes and share them with the neighbors." When Leman's wife spoke she took out a package of paper and gave it to Ernie.

Ernie looked at Lexie, Lexie got up and smiled as she walked towards the door, "Ernie, hurry up, we have to thank you, these children also happen to be starving."

"What's so small as to thank you, we are neighbors, should have helped each other later on. I'm a southern resident not very familiar with the people of this Phoenix city, all relying on help from the neighbors." As this leman's wife spoke, this boy stared fixedly at Lexie, seeing his wife leman he directly hit her on the head, "What is this boy looking at such a man for."

"Mother, this sister is so beautiful." The boy poked his tongue out, but he still did not budge, "You said to yourself, this big brother is a new-come-neighbor, so we're here to see if he's beautiful or not, didn't you say if you were beautiful then you would make her sister's wife?"

The boy said it so honestly, the look on the face of the leman's wife turned red, he was so angry that he raised his hand and looked behind the boy's head, "Oblank tooth! this kid why speak so carelessly, next time I won't take you out."

The wife turned her head to Lexie and said: "Young girl, you don't listen to her words, it's not true. A beautiful girl like you, where my son might be worth it to you, but instead of me bragging, I know the people on this street, in this year I've been betrothed 5 to 6 people, he said, young girl if you're still unmarried, I can help you, are your parents home?"
