The Second Life's
LXXXVI - Spy Daddy

As soon as I got off the train, Hendery was already on standby in front of the palace with a tense look. I was quite concerned for him because he knew that his extended family had lost everything they could be proud of. Ah, except for Hendery's brother of course. He would still be an Imperial knight, even without a noble family background. He's a talented and wise boy.

Contrasting upside down with the male figure that was currently in front of me. Staring straight at me without any intention of respecting me. I'd rather ignore Hendery, than listen to his words that annoy and disgust me.

However, just as it was about to pass by, Hendery gently pulled my hand to stop. It didn't take long, I'll give him my slap. I wonder, why in a day there are two men pulling at my hands so impolitely?!

“You're overdue,” I said coldly. “What is my position not important in your eyes?”

“I want to see my mother,” said Hendery with a sorry look. “Just let me out for a while.”

I stared at him for a moment before finally walking into the palace. “Go.”

Blam it!

I slammed the door of my study and forbade anyone from entering. Ava was already in my room first, and now she was engrossed in reading books neatly arranged on the shelf.

A sense of relaxation filled my body soul as I sat leaning against my soft chair.

“The show was really interesting. I shed tears because of it,” said Ava, dramatizing.

“What about Concubine Sienna?” I'm trying to switch the conversation.

“She's in the Imperial Palace,” Ava replied. “I can feel the evil mana core there.”

“No chance if Consort Sienna swapped bodies with Rose Hindley, right?” my guess.

Ava nodded. “I had stopped by the Silver Palace. The guard there is getting tight. Sienna—the in it someone else—being lying on his bed.”

“Do we have to move now?”

Geck! Geck! Geck!

Ava did not have time to answer, my workroom door was knocked from the outside. I clucked in annoyance and glanced at the door. Ava left without saying anything.

“I told you not to bother me,” I said annoyed. “What's up?”

“I'm sorry, Queen. Queen's Father comes to visit.” It's Maya. “He is waiting in the living room.”

Finally came too.

I went out and walked straight to the living room with Maya. As soon as I walked in, Chloe was busy putting snacks and tea on the table.

As soon as she's done, Chloe looks down and goes out with Maya. Leaving me alone with my father who put on a sad look.

I sat on the sofa facing him and smiled. “It seems like a long time ago I did not see Father.”

“Is there nothing you want to say to Dad, Charlotte?” Dad hasn't changed. He simply did not want to mince words in such an unpleasant situation as now. “Can you explain the execution and punishment of the Franklin family?”

“Dad also saw it?” many nervous.

“No. I didn't get to see the incident because I was busy with my business. Once you know this information from Jayden, Dad came straight here to ask you everything,” replied Dad.

I smile. “As you already know, I was almost killed by a servant ordered by Gracie Franklin. Because of their actions, I gave them a lesson worth.”

“And you didn't tell Dad this? Your own biological parents?! When any intruder comes in, you shut up!”

Hm.

“Dad no need to pretend anymore,” I said slowly. “I know if Dad put Dad's eyes and ears here. Knights Franklin and Matilda are spies for Dad, right?”

“Dad doesn't understand what you mean,” said my father.

“The only one who knew about the intruder was Matilda. He hid the matter from my other paddle and instead looked for Knight Franklin. So the question is, why does it have to be Knight Franklin he told you about? If you want to find a solution together, why not invite my other two ladies as well?” I took a breath and exhaled it rough. “And now, why do you know this? From Jayden? Not likely. All I know are my three ladies and also Knight Franklin.”

Silent moment.

“You're right, Charlotte. Everything you say is true.” Father confessed. “But, what's wrong with that? I just want to pay attention to you.”

“I didn't say it was wrong. And I didn't say it was true either. Daddy overreacting,” I said.

“Sorry, Charlotte. Dad didn't mean to make you uncomfortable and restrained,” said my father. “Dad does not want if ... Your mother who ..”

I covered my ears because of the obscure words from Dad's mouth. I can't hear the whole sentence!

“Your mother died because ... so Dad ..”

“I ..., can't ..., listen!” hysterical shouting. “Why are all the things that concern Mom and my childhood so gray?! Why?!”

My stress level went up again. My head hurts and my breath shortens. I can't breathe very well. My view became unclear, and shaded. I hate things like this. I hate the unclear. I hate myself. What's wrong with me.

Mom ..., why did I become like this? What have you done to me?

Everything went dark.

“Queen hasn't woken up yet, I've compressed it with ice water. Queen's fever never comes down.” Chloe's? That's Chloe?

My eyes won't open, and my mouth is clenched. My throat hurts. My head's circling. I tried to move because of my hot body. But I'm too weak. And I'm fine. Yes, my condition is weakened like this, there is a trigger. My mum.

Increasingly clear. I used to be like this too. It doesn't taste very good. Like just wanting to die.

“Queen's father how?” Jasmine is now speaking.

“Having returned home because he was picked up by his right hand,” Matilda replied.

“The Queen's clothes are wet. We have to replace it again,” Chloe said. “Do we call the Imperial Doctor only?”

“Queen doesn't want that,” Matilda said.

“The Queen's condition is worse than before!” exclaim Chloe. Looks panicked.

“True Chloe said. We must summon the Imperial Physician right now for the Queen's good. If the Queen is angry because of this, I will be responsible,” Jasmine said.

“No need.” That voice surprised me a bit. “I've called him.”

“May Your Majesty the Emperor be blessed Goddess of Virtue!” exclaim my third day.

“Why don't you guys send me a letter related to the Queen's condition?” Idris sounded angry. Overharvesting. “You mean to hide it from me?”

“I forgive us, Emperor. Because there was a quarrel between the Emperor and the Queen, we thought the Queen would be angry if we were presumptuous to tell you this,” explained Jasmine.

“Come. Let me both be with the Queen until the Imperial Doctor comes,” Idris orders.

“Good, Emperor.”

The mood became quiet. All I could feel was someone sitting on the edge of my bed and stroking my hair. That's Idris. His treatment made me suffer more.
