The Second Life's
CVII - Meet Dad

Everyone came back shocked. I smiled inwardly as I was amused by the expression they showed. I knew if they didn't think this would happen. I also knew that they would feel suspicious about this letter. But, the current supreme ruler is myself. There is not a single human inside Vanhoiren who can oppose me.

The Emperor's stamp is his valid proof.

Only Idris himself actually knows the code of the drawer padlock containing the stamp. But, luckily I have a friend like Ava. He has helped me open the lock and also duplicate the cap. Now, Rose Hindley and the Hindleys have no chance to claim the right to the throne because I will change the entire order of the Empire.

Looks like Baron Hindley doesn't like this. He blatantly stared intently at me. But, I let it go because I don't want to add any more trouble.

“Let's remember, I'm not here to ask the Supreme Court to prove whether or not the evidence I'm holding right now. What is clear, you can see the evidence about the actions of Concubine Sienna in the Silver Palace. The evidence is still there, the sooner the better,” I said. “Thank you for listening to all my testimonies. I hope that in the future we can all work together to build Vanhoiren back to its former glory.”

“Before that, the Queen must hold a proper funeral for the Emperor,” said the Grand Duchess.

I looked at him and smiled. “True, Grand Duchess. That's the most important thing I have to do. So I decided to retreat first. Hope everything I say is acceptable to all of you.”

When I stood up, they all stood up to pay their respects. As she walked out, Duchess Harriston caught up with me. I think I know what he wants to talk about.

“Sorry to interrupt your departure, Queen,” said Duchess Harriston. “I want to talk to you about something.”

“Speak now,” I said casually.

“Uhm, I am very happy to know that the Queen has successfully investigated the disappearance of the people of Vanhoiren. And I am also very sad because the Queen lost the figure of the Emperor and the Queen's husband in a short time.”

“Thank you, Duchess Harriston. I appreciate it.” I smile. “That's all the Duchess wants to say?”

Duchess Harriston nodded. “True. For now, I can only say that. May you always be strong, Queen.”

“Thank you. See you, Duchess.”

*

My carriage was walking towards the Winston residence. Yeah, I'm gonna go see Dad in person and talk to him again. Actually, I can't stand a cold war with my father like this. It's only my parents, I don't want to lose Dad just because of my selfishness.

All along the way, I only thought about Dad's trust in what I did. Sad feeling. Speaking of trust, I know that Dad hides a lot of secrets behind me. The mysterious man's father.

But even so, I still believe it. I believe that whatever he does is purely for the good of our family. But, while I was doing the same thing, Dad did not give me a bit of his trust. I just need a little.

Actuallyno.

This is what made me doubt my own father. Thank goodness my common sense is still going well, I can still shake off all my negative thoughts just now and still trust Dad.

“Queen, we've arrived.” Hendery broke my long daydream. He was already outside the carriage while extending his left hand to me. “What Queen needs something?”

I immediately shook weakly. “No.” He put his hand on it, then got off the train.

Layla approached me along with Jayden, the two of them bowing respect for longer than usual. I had to make them raise their heads because they felt awkward.

“Is my Dad here?”

“Mari, Queen. I'll take you to Mr. Winston's office while Layla prepares a banquet for you,” Jayden said.

“Good.” I followed Jayden from behind along with Hendery.

Dad's office door was knocked by Jayden, with no answer from the inside, but Jayden quickly opened the door. Look Dad along with a tall, sturdy man wearing a black robe with a hood that adorns his head.

That must be Dad's spy.

As soon as I saw my face, Dad put on a very clear surprised face in my eyes. Jayden came in and looked up to Dad with a greeting. Jayden doesn't know that my relationship with Dad is not good.

“Dad.”

“Why are you here?” ask Dad. He glanced at his spies and the spies turned around to come out while lowering his face.

I held the spy's hand and glanced at him sharply. “Show me your face. You don't have manners for a Queen?”

“She's my guy. Let him go, Charlotte,” Father said.

Hm, liar.

“I just want to see it, Dad. Otherwise, my knight can help her open the hood of that robe.” I challenged my father.

“Cain, unlock your cloak,” Father's orders. “This is the Queen's order.”

I let go of the spy's hand and let him open his hood. The spy called Cain began to slowly open his hood.

The golden brown hair with reddish brown eyes, made me a little surprised. His cold and unfriendly eyes made me uncomfortable. He stays down. Reluctant to see me.

One thing that surprised me was that the look in his eyes almost hypnotized me. He's a dangerous man.

“Is enough, Charlotte?” ask Dad. “Is there anything else you want?”

“Sorry to make Dad uncomfortable. I'm just a bit insecure with people who don't show their faces in front of me.”. “You can wear your hood again,” my orders to Cain.

Cain finally put on the hood of his robe back, then walked out of Dad's study lightning-fast. The mood became quiet. I hurriedly said my intent and purpose towards Father.

“Father knows that the Imperial Palace is undergoing considerable damage. The Emperor's right hand was also heavily injured by the ruins of the ruined palace. So, I intend to ask Father for help to allow me to borrow Jayden for a while as my temporary right hand in rebuilding the palace and also help me to take care of the Emperor's funeral in the near future.

Dad looked at me for a moment and pinched his tense nape. “That's all you want?”

“Ya.” I smile. “I want to get everything done as quickly as possible.”

“As far as you are. As long as Jayden is able, I can only give you permission,” Dad said. “But, about our last conversation. I just don't understand and can't accept everything you've done.”

“Can't yet, Dad,” I said slowly. “I'll prove to Dad that what I'm doing right now is for good.”
