The Second Life's

The Second Life's
L - High Court (IV)

“Charlotte,” call Idris.

“Ya?” I said while looking at him. One of the first things I saw from Idris's face was his smile.

“You don't worry about anything anymore. We can definitely win this trial and have a quiet wedding,”, said Idris.

I nodded and smiled sweetly at him. “Thank you for everything, Idris. I believe you can do anything for me.”

“Can we have lunch together?” bargain Idris.

“Uhm, does that mean we have lunch with Miss Hindley?” ask me to make sure.

Idris replied, Rose came to us first. The first thing he did was to hold Idris' arm in a friendly style and with no burden at all. He glanced at me and smiled mockingly.

It was as if I would be jealous of her behavior.

“Idris, let's have lunch ..” take Rose spoiled.

“Wait a minute,” says Idris. “Let's eat threesome, Charlotte. There is a good restaurant that has just opened near the High Court building.”

I had to find a way to reject Idris's invitation. But what am I supposed to say?

“Charlotte.”

I looked at the origin of the voice. It was Dad who came to me with Jayden. Thankfully, I was able to get a clear reason for rejecting Idris. I smiled and walked over to my father with Chloe.

“Dad ...”

“We have to talk, Charlotte,” Dad said.

I'm nodding. “Good, Dad. I'll say goodbye to the Crown Prince,” said I, who then returned to Idris.

“What's up, Charlotte?” ask Idris.

“Sorry, Idris. You should have a meal with Miss Hindley. My dad wants to talk to you in private,” I said with a sad look on his face. “You don't mind, do you?”

“Alright, Charlotte. I appreciate your privacy with your father. Eat a lot, okay?” Idris rubbed my head.

“Good. You too, Idris,” I said.

I ended up going with Dad, Jayden, and Chloe. We decided to have lunch at a different restaurant from the one Idris and Rose visited. Restaurants are simpler and have privacy space for business purposes.

We rarely eat out of the house. Last time I did it, it was with my mom.

Jayden and Chloe are waiting outside. They had lunch just like us. While waiting for our food to come, we said nothing. The room is full of awkwardness. And I was suffocated by him.

“Dad ...,” call me when our food has arrived.

“Eat, Charlotte,” Father said without looking at me. “We talk after we finish eating.”

“Good.”

“Sorry because I have kept a secret, Father,” I said as we finished lunch.

“How can you hide this big thing to your own father, Charlotte?” Dad looks frustrated. “Is there anything else you're hiding from Dad?”

I clenched my hand without Dad's knowledge. “That's it, Dad. I just don't want to make you worry about my condition. I can handle this with His Highness Crown Prince.”

“Not a problem whether or not you can handle it. It's your safety issue,” said Father. “Only you have Dad. I don't want you to leave Dad like your Mom ..”

The mood returned awkward. Saying Mother's word is like magic that makes us uncomfortable with each other. I was abandoned by Mom in no time. Mother's relationship with Dad must be more than me. Dad kept his sadness alone.

As a child, I didn't want to add to Dad's worries. I don't want Dad to focus on his job because he thinks about me. I don't want to put Dad in danger.

“Daddy ..., I'm fine,” I said confidently.

“What's up?” ask the man who knocked on our door.

“We must immediately return to the High Court, Mr. Viscount.” That's Jayden's voice. “It's good we're not late.”

Dad looked at. It still doesn't seem like our conversation ended like this.

“Ayah ..., relax. This is the last time I kept a secret from Dad,” I said.

There's no way that Dad's gonna take his watch off me again. Dad will definitely tell his men to follow my activities. It can make my movements narrower.

Finally, we returned to the High Court to continue the trial that was postponed for a moment. As soon as I walked into the courtroom, I could see that Idris and Rose had arrived first. Rose also sat down where I was sitting so she could freely chat with Idris.

“Did Miss Hindley and Her Royal Highness the Crown Prince have any special relationship?” ask Dad.

“No, Dad. Go back to Dad's seat, we don't need to discuss this here,” I replied calmly.

Dad finally returned to his seat along with Jayden. As for me, walk towards Idris and stop in front of him with Chloe.

“Looks like you guys are talking,” I said casually. “Do I bother you?”

Rose glared at me. “Of course Miss Charlotte is very annoying.”

“Is that? I'm sorry then. I didn't mean to interrupt. But you're sitting at my place,” I said.

“Charlotte, you don't have to apologize,” said Idris. “Nona Rose, please move to your seat ...”

Rose looked at Idris. Seemed unacceptable if Idris supported me more than him. “Idris ...”

“People see us. Don't draw any more attention,” Idris scolds Rose.

Rose clucked in annoyance and followed Idris' orders. I sat back in my seat without saying anything. The chair I sat in was warm. How long have they been chatting?

The faces of the two of them were very thick because they did not care about the views of the people in this courtroom.

Idris clasped my hand. I don't care about that on purpose. However, his hand grip grew tighter. Until I had to look at him for a moment.

“Are you angry?” ask Idris.

“Anged about what, Idris?” askaku.

“Because I'm too familiar with Rose,” replied Idris.

I let out a breath. Trying to reduce my anger because of the ridiculous behavior of Idris who thought I would feel emotion because of the things I had considered trivial.

“Yes, Idris. You always worry about something unimportant like this ..” Amusingly. “We're just focusing on the trial this time. I don't want to think of anything else.”

“You're right, Charlotte.” Idris agreed. “We finished this before our wedding day. We have to make sure that there is no barrier whatsoever to our happy plans.”

The only barrier you don't get rid of is Rose, Idris.

“True, Idris.” I smile.

“Do you want to have dinner with me tonight? We should enjoy our time together before we officially become husband and wife, ” suggested Idris.

“Later tonight?”

Idris nodded. “Iya, Charlotte.”

“Good.” I responded half-heartedly to Idris.

Shortly after, the Chief Justice and his two accompanying judges entered the courtroom. The trial began again to announce the final results.
