The Second Life's

The Second Life's
XLVII - High Court (I)

Hendery greeted me in the backyard of the Bronze Palace in the clothes he used to wear during training with me.

He looked back and smiled sweetly at me. I just kept quiet and put on a flat face. Today my mood has not improved. I was very tired because of the busy activities.

“Why with your face, Miss Winston?” ask Hendery.

“What are you doing here, Mr Franklin?” askaku. “I think our rehearsal is delayed as long as I prepare for the wedding.”

“Ah, I just escaped to the Bronze Palace,” I'm Hendery.

“What?” I scrunched my forehead. “You fled to the palace I occupied for sword practice? Did you know this could lead to some weird gossip?!”

Hendery nodded and sat down on the grass of the garden. He lifted his head to look at me from below. “Next week you will soon become Queen, yes ...”

“Yes, that's right. Why are you discussing this?” I looked at him with an uninterested expression.

“Yah .., I know that my mother is against this. Even secretly, Grand Duchess Dominic also supports my Mother along with Her Majesty The Queen,”. “Does Miss Winston have a solution about it?”

“Your Highness the Crown Prince will take care of it with the upper class nobles,” I explained to Hendery. “Why didn't you persuade Marchioness Franklin to accept me?”

“My mother will not listen to my words. He only cares about my brother,” Hendery said with a grim look. “But I will try to persuade him as I can.”

“After I thought about it, you better not do that,” reject me smooth. “Forget my word earlier.”

“What Miss Winston doubts me?” search Hendery.

Why would he have to push me, anyway?

“Nona Winston!” holly exclaimed as she ran small towards me. “Nona! There's a letter from the High Court!”

“What?!” I was shocked by it and picked up the letter that Holly had proffered as soon as she stood right in front of me.

I read the letter slowly. As I had guessed, the High Court issued an invitation letter regarding the unwillingness of Marchioness Franklin to me who was about to become a Queen. I admit I am only a child of the Viscount, but degrading the nobles who are under him is an immoral act.

Letters from the High Court wear special paper and gold ink. It looks expensive and classy. But the contents of the letter horrified me.

Greetings from the Imperial High Court of Vanhoiren.

In connection with the report of the upper class nobility who is the family of Marquess Franklin about the refusal of the future Queen, our High Court party invites you to bear witness in the court this time tomorrow. Nine o'clock in the morning.

Please be present within the stipulated time. Thank ye.

Signed, Imperial High Court.

I folded the letter back and then handed it to Holly. My head feels dizzy. Hendery had to help me stand up because I almost fell.

Hendery took me inside the Bronze Palace, precisely in the living room. I sat on the long sofa and was then given tea by Holly.

“Drink, Miss Winston,” said Hendery.

I'm gonna go and have some Holly tea. I exhaled heavily and glanced at Hendery for a moment. His worried face made me tickle. It is not usual for this cunning man in front of me to show a weak face.

“You can go, Mr. Franklin. I'm fine,” I said.

“You look shocked, Miss Winston,” comments Hendery.

I smile. “It was. Now no. I have to prepare a few things before attending the High Court tomorrow. We'll talk later.”

“Are you sure you don't need my help?” ask Hendery.

“Good. Then I'll go home first. Don't forget to ask for my help if you need it.”

I'm nodding. “Good, Mr. Franklin.”

After Hendery's departure, I wrote a letter to my residence. I don't want to make Dad worry about the news about me being invited to the High Court. As soon as possible I want to tell my father. I could be shocked by a letter from the court, let alone my own father.

As soon as the letter was over, I asked Holly to send it by courier.

I was able to escape the shackles of the court because the Marchioness Franklin had no fundamental reason to bring me to justice. Is their resistance much stronger now?

“Nona Winston?”

“Ya?” I looked at Chloe who just called me. “What's up?”

“Your Highness the Crown Prince is coming to see you,” Chloe said as she lowered her head. “Your Highness is in your room.”

“My room?” I scrunched my forehead. What'd he want to see me in the room?! Idris must have been crazy because he was always so engrossed with Rose in his own room to apply it to me.

“True, Miss Winston.”

“Alright, I'll see him now. Bring the banquet to my room,” I said as I walked towards my room in a hurry.

Cleks!

I heard the sound of my door when I opened it. I could see Idris standing by the window looking out. I approached her before she finally looked back and smiled sweetly at me.

“Do you have an invitation letter from the High Court?” ask Idris.

I'm nodding. “Already, Idris. I got it a few minutes ago. What's the matter with you here?”

“Of course out of worry,” replied Idris as he approached me.

“Once, yes.” I glanced at him for a moment. “Did Miss Hindley know if you came to visit me?”

Idris took a breath. “Why are you asking like that, Charlotte?” ask Idris back.

“Usually you are sehati,”.

“I don't want to talk about Rose when we're alone like this,” said Idris. “Which is more important, are you okay with tomorrow's meeting?”

I can only nod. “I'll be fine, Idris. Thanks to my tea meeting with the nobles, I was able to get many new allies to support me in this matter. More importantly, how do you work with Grand Duke and Duke Harriston?”

“We also get a lot of nobles to work with, Charlotte. If the conditions are like this, we can definitely win,” said Idris. “Today you stay in the palace and rest. Let me take care of the rest for you. You just calm down and don't think about anything else that stresses you out, okay?”

“Good, Idris.”

Idris clasped my hand for a moment and looked at me with his deep gaze. I could only bow in disgust. “Next week you'll be mine, Charlotte. I don't want any barrier to make us so unable to unite. I hate being apart from you.”

Idris, you're so funny. And it makes me sick.

“Hm, yes.”

“Why aren't you excited?” ask Idris.

“What's wrong, Idris. I'm fine,” I replied indifferently.

“Hm, I have to leave immediately. Are you okay, am I leaving?”

“Go,” I said half expel.

Idris smiled and kissed my forehead before leaving the Bronze Palace.
