...CHAPTRE 51...
...ASHAMED...
A week after the confession at the bar that day, neither Rosaline nor James spoke. They both return to their usual routines. Go to the office, work with a pile of documents, then go home.
But there is one more custom that they now do after James' confession at that time, namely ignoring each other's presence. Every time the eyes accidentally met, the two of them quickly looked away. I dare not look as long as I used to.
I don't know what they feel right now. Perhaps Rosaline was beset with feelings of guilt while James had to endure the shame of saying something she shouldn't have said to anyone, including this girl in front of her.
Sometimes James steals a glance at a brunette-haired woman who is fiddling with her laptop seriously at the office desk. His emerald eyes continued to move here and there, against the blue light coming out of the laptop screen.
Sometimes James heard the girl grumbling as her tiny lips pursed like a koi fish and the veins on her temple appeared. I don't know what he's doing on his laptop. Wanted to peek, but it was embarrassing for James to do so.
Indeed, usually he could easily go to Rosaline's table and stand beside the girl with his arms crossed in front of his chest. His mouth —which seems to have no rem— always catapulted a lot of comments or rather ridicule for every thing that the girl did.
It was as if there was nothing lacking if James did not sneer at Rosaline for a single day in his life.
The blond man let out a long, hard breath. Hard enough to pull the attention of the beautiful brunnete woman from her laptop. Again, their eyes meet. Exchanging glances between gray and beautiful emerald.
However, not as usual. Both of them did not immediately turn their faces away. Even Rosaline gave him a small smile that was countered by James' slowly softening gaze. Please don't ask James since when he started soft on the girl. Because he was alone he never realized it.
"Is there anything you want to say, Adler?"
In contrast to that night, instead of James, Adler again became the first option for Rosaline to call him. Well there's nothing he needs to disappoint. The girl only uses it when she is drunk. There was nothing he could expect from that.
"No. I just want to know what you're doing with your laptop. Your face is very tense and ugly when you focus."
Yep. Like that, her heart. Keep trying to pretend like nothing happened between you at the bar that night. Sneak him as usual.
James bit his lower lip waiting for Rosaline to respond. It felt like he wanted to blow himself up or bury himself alive in the land he was ashamed of now. For some reason, after his fucking confession at the bar it all felt embarrassing.
"I've only seen developments in every area. You want to see it too?" The offer made James freeze.
"No, thank you. I can see for myself later."
Damn the prestige!
"I need to go. I have to see Oliver."
"Oh discuss the development of our construction?"
I don't know why the word 'we' in James' ear sounds so strange that Rosaline said it. I don't know, don't ask him why. Because it's free, he doesn't even know.
"Yeah, kind off."
That way, he's gone. Leaving Rosaline alone in the room. He walked into Oliver's room with unrelenting footsteps. Jolting like a child sulking because it is not bought candy.
Brak!
"Oliver!" His shouting.
Oliver who was applying lipstick on his lips was shocked, making a long red line on his cheek. "You bastard!" He shouted, threw his lipstick and directly ran towards James.
"You must help me."
Oliver frowned and slowly, he began to release his grip on James' shirt neck. "Help? You rarely ask for help, especially to me. So what's up? About your dad again?"
James opened his mouth after making sure the door behind him was tightly shut. In one breath, he told Oliver all about the day.
About how she told Rosaline about her family situation, her lover, and her confession about how much she wanted to be Rosaline's best friend.
Oliver watched James as the man buried his face in his hands, trying to hide his embarrassment. Well, Oliver already knows how James's habit when drunk.
Usually, every time James sipped a drink at the bar it was a sign that he was having a problem. Either with his family or Clark or even with himself. But this time it was a little different. Because James always takes Oliver to the bar instead of Rosaline.
"Have you spoken after that day?" Oliver asked.
"No, it's been a week since we went to the bar and we didn't talk to each other afterwards. I don't even know if he pretended not to remember it or not. Because every time I look into those beautiful emerald eyes. I just saw myself in such an embarrassing state."
He groaned, letting a frustrated sigh slip out of his mouth. Oliver who was now frowning as he tilted his head as if trying to get the right word to say. But almost nothing was thought of. It seemed like he could not help anything for the situation this time.
"Please, help me. Every time I was with him there was always an awkward tension between us and I didn't like it. It's like, we're back as we used to be. Argh... I want to turn back time!"
Giving up, Oliver finally opened his mouth only to tell James to stop shaking his body. "Fine! I'll talk to him!" He shouted, stating.
With that James' eyes began to widen. "What do you want to talk to him about?" James's worried.
"Don't worry, I'll talk to him" Oliver said, again, rather than answering James' question.

"Rosey!"
Rosaline looks up only to find Oliver suddenly coming into her room. The girl waved, walking closer to Rosaline. This time he's alone and James has gone home because he got a job from Oliver.
I don't know what the task was but it seemed very difficult to do, because when James returned to their room that afternoon. His face was pinched with emotions that Rosaline could not guess.
"You haven't come home yet?"
Rosaline smiled and shook her head. "I'll be home after I save my job. Jam— I mean Adler will kill me if I forget to keep it," he bursts while laughing forward.
Her tiny finger slowly touched the touchpad, pointing the cursor at the save sign to store the work she had been doing since morning. Before long, his laptop screen blackened and Rosaline shut it down.
"You haven't come home yet?" This time Rosaline asked the question.
Oliver just smiled and replied, "I will, but I want to go to the cafe where you worked at that time. So all of you, I'll take you home. You live there, right?"
Rosaline frowned. "Yes but I didn't know Daniel was still open or not, jad—"
"Let's go!"
Not allowed a word out of his mouth to protest, Rosaline resigned as Oliver dragged her out of the company. Letting her drive him home with the same car brand as James.
