...CHAPTRE 37...
...SOUTH KENSINGTON'S...
It was cold when Rosaline went to Matilda's company. Clouds covered the sky and it looked like it would snow later tonight. Rosaline shivered and pulled her coat tighter into his body, trying to block the cold from entering.
Today, instead of taking the bus to go there, she prefers to walk, enjoying the scenery wrapped gently by a blanket of white snow. Snow fell unceasingly, coating it all with a new layer of snow that made the landscape bright white endless.
Rosaline took a breath. Seeing his own breath in the air as he rubbed his hands together. Blowing a warm breath into his hand to make sure his hand remained wrapped in warmth.
"Good morning" said Rosaline, smiling at the security guard as she passed them and entered through the door. Keep walking into the company while throwing a friendly smile at everyone.
By using the elevator, Rosaline pressed the floor button and immediately the elevator drove up. Rosaline crossed her arms, stomping her legs while waiting for the elevator to stop.
Today, he is not late. Thanks to Reagan who woke him up this morning, even though the alarm he set the night before had gone off many times, but still he did not wake up.
Ting!
The elevator opened, and Rosaline quickly stomped her feet into the room she thought the blond, James Orion Adler, was definitely there. He held the doorknob, took a slow breath then
blow it rough.
Kriet's!
"Oh, you're not late, at last."
Although James was not facing her, he could feel Rosaline rolling her eyes behind him. He turned around, folded the paper he was holding and placed it on the table.
"Happy now?" Rosaline said annoyedly.
"Looks like my threat was successful yesterday, huh?"
Rosaline grunting. "You're the one who's too paranoid. I told you I wouldn't be late."
James just shrugged his shoulders in response and then sat down, unfolded the paper he had folded earlier and handed it to Rosaline.
"This is a message from companies in Birmingham and York. They said they would delay construction there first until winter is over. The place we use is covered by heavy snow and cars and other construction tools are inaccessible. That's why they put it off."
"How about in another city? Any progress?"
"Yes. I've sent you the design file you created. They had already thought of making a skeleton first. Until then, they're asking us to go over there and check it out for ourselves."
They built six cities in London, Birmingham, York, Bristol, Bradford and Edinburgh. Except in London, construction was also carried out in five areas. For now, they are both in charge of London.
"So, south Kensington first?" Rosaline asked and James nodded. "With your car again?"
"Is there a problem with that?" James asked, somehow feeling a little offended.
Rosaline shook her head. "No, I'm just asking."
James sneered. "Well, my car is the best choice than a bus. Even your family can't afford it."
"Yes, yes, whatever, Mr. owner of everything."
James snorted but did not utter any more insulting words. Instead, he stood up and waltzed leisurely out of the room and Rosaline followed closely behind.
In the elevator, silence struck again.
But for Rosaline or James, they wouldn't mind being stuck in that silence for long periods of time. For them, the silence that surrounds them is a comfort and a peace. Where none of them should speak.
Ting!
The elevator doors opened, instantly adding some of Matilda's company employees who immediately bent their bodies as James Orion Adler stepped out of the elevator.
"Wow, they respect you" said Rosaline, amazed by the sight she saw. Where the employees bowed like a bodyguard as an authoritative moment walked before them.
"Of course, I'm the golden money, Smith," he said arrogantly and made Rosaline roll her eyes lazily. Wouldn't respond to the man's arrest.
As soon as they got to James's car, the engine was turned on and the car was moving. Take them both to south Kensington which is only a few minutes from London.
"So, after South Kensington where are you going?" rosaline asked as she read through the entire document she had brought earlier. He turned around, tilted his head in confusion, staring straight at the blond man driving next to him.
"I was just thinking of going to Southwark after South Kensington. That's if you don't mind the truth. Because we both know that today we will only focus on the London area first. After that we're just in another town."
"Are there any complaints other than Birmingham and York? I can tolerate it because this month is the peak of winter, so I know how thick the snow is."
"To complain I don't think it's for any other city, because so far I've been getting emails from construction sites in Birmingham and York. Maybe if you want us to go there tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, for the skeletal progress of the building they made."
Rosaline nodded, suddenly wondering how she could get permission from Reagan and Daniel to go to another city, especially with this golden money guy.
With the blond guy Reagan disliked. And don't forget Kaylie. What will he say later? Oh jesus.
"Well, if you're afraid to ask your brother for permission, I can handle it. I'll talk to him later."
Rosaline flinched, turning her head towards James in horror. His eyes widened, his jaw gaping as his heart beat so fast. "B—how ka—" He stuttered, blurring his words together.
James grinned. "How do I know you have a twin? Well it's easy. I accidentally met him. I thought he was just a bully, but when Clark introduced me to you, I felt like I'd seen you.
"And then I realized you looked like someone I met on my doorstep. Well, I'm kind of surprised to see a male version of you. Not that friendly even though the female version is very different. Naive and stupid."
Rosaline chuckled, but flat. "Hahaha nice one
James. Funny. You're supposed to be a comedian rather than a businessman."
James rolled his eyes, but could not help but a small smile that fluffed along with the bitter joke thrown by the girl.
Within fifteen minutes, they arrived at the construction site. Like their original plan, they just came to check the progress and after that they left, moved to another area.
It took four hours to examine five construction sites in England. Before they finally returned to Matilda's. Rosaline slumped straight onto the sofa as soon as they arrived at the study, snorting and muttering how tired she was today.
"Oh right, your jacket," he said. "I give it back" handed James a paper bag.
James looked up, frowning.
"Don't I tell you to take it?"
"Yes, but I won't take it. If Clark finds out I'm wearing his girlfriend's jacket, he'll choke me to death. He'll definitely think I'm having an affair with you. So take. I don't want to have anything from you."
Grunting, James took it. "Yes. You welcome. At least say thank you after I lend you."
Rosaline shrugged her shoulders unconcerned. "Yes. Thank you." Thank you."
