"I'm in love with you."
The girl turned her head to meet her eyes with a pair of gray irises beside her. Over there. A red-shawed man stood on his neck, smiling at him.
"W-what?" He asked as his eyes bulged in shock, his jaw gaping wide, and his heart pounded faster than usual.
The man smiled. He slowly leaned closer to hanging his scarf around the neck of the girl in front of him, when he realized the girl's face was getting redder as the temperature around them began to decrease.
"You may think my feeling is a fraud, but—" she scanned the girl's face for a moment, before cupping her cheeks to bring the emerald iris to her grey, "—this one is real."
The girl jumped as the man's lips landed on his forehead, causing a red hue to instantly creep across his face. Makes it flushed out like a boiled crab.
"Can you give me a chance to prove it? It seems like you still can't believe what I'm saying" he said as he pulled the girl's hand and clasped her tightly. It was as if the girl would run away if she let go now.
The girl in front of him chose not to answer. He simply threw the man's hand rough from her as his head was bowed down. Staring at the pair of shoes he was wearing now.
"I want a chance" he said again, "I want to repeat everything from the beginning."
The girl smiled wryly, as if she knew the gist of their conversation. This time, the girl raised her head and brought her eyes together with a pair of gray that always made her heart pound.
"I know, but at least we can try—"
"How's it?" Cut it. His voice sounded trembling as if he wanted to cry.
"This whole time you've been treating me like crap. You even let them hurt me, even though you knew I could have died that day. And again your father. If you forget happily, I will remind you. He also had responsibilities the day my father and mother were killed."
The man remained silent, unsure what to respond to. He opened his mouth to speak and then closed it again, as if all the words he wanted to say back then were stuck in his throat.
"I know it's hard. All this time I've been building walls of hatred against you. I always said that I hated you even though I knew the truth was different. I just don't know how to tell my feelings without having to hurt others' feelings."
He smiled desperately at the end of his sentence, inexplicably making one side of the girl's heart ache. He hates this. That girl hates. Seeing the water the desperate man's face instantly made him want to jump and give him a warm hug.
The warmest hug that the man may not have felt in his entire life. He felt his heart burn with the flames of empathy. The sympathy in his heart almost made him moved to forgive the man. However, the rice had already become porridge. His head would not agree with the decision of his heart.
"Sorry. I'm not bi—"
"Please, just one more chance and I'm gonna fix everything." His head landed resignedly on the shoulder of the girl, involuntarily letting a speck of clear water out of his eyes. "I never thought you'd be this important to me, Rosie."
