The Continent of Europe

The Continent of Europe
Chapter 20's

...CHAPTRE 20...

...FOSTER BOOKS ...

Daniel opened the door of his room as his ears dimmed at the noise from outside. With drowsiness still rampant in his eyes, he vaguely found the figure of Rosaline sitting on the sofa while hugging her knees.

The brunette-haired girl was seen daydreaming, not paying attention at all to the television in front of her that lit up. Even when Daniel approached her with heavy strides, the girl did not look at him at all.

Daniel rubbed his sleepy eyes, looking at the wall clock that had shown ten o'clock. He turned his head towards Reagan's sealed room, which meant that the man had already gone to college.

Then why is Rosaline still here?

When Daniel stopped right next to Rosaline, he realized that she was still wearing her nightgown. He noticed Rosaline's hair sticking out upwards and dark circles appearing around her eyes.

Looks like the girl didn't sleep all night.

"You didn't go to college, Rosie?"

Feeling that his voice was less attractive to Rosaline, Daniel patted the girl on the shoulder and slightly shook her, making Rosaline finally turn her head. He threw a listless smile as if greeting Daniel in front of him.

"You didn't go to college?" Daniel asked a question he had not answered.

"Well, I'm not in the mood for college, maybe occasionally skipping is okay?" Throw it out while chuckling.

Daniel frowned in wonder. She could hear the doubt in the girl's words as her emerald irises tried to dodge her eyes. He knew Rosaline was hiding something from him.

"You didn't sleep last night?" Daniel asked.

He took a little comfort as he leaned his back against the back of the sofa and stretched every muscle of his stiff body after waking up.

Rosaline just chuckled a little. He followed Daniel who leaned his back, crossed his arms in front of his chest and his eyes looked straight at the television, finally noticing the black box.

"Yes. I got a nightmare. Every time I closed my eyes, there was always a terrifying shadow appearing in my head. That's why I'm awake until now."

Their conversation stopped. It felt like Daniel wanted to ask more about what nightmare Rosaline had seen last night. But it seems that now is not the right time to ask that.

The girl was still deep in her own thoughts. How hard Daniel talked to her or tried to distract her, Rosaline would definitely remain stuck inside there.

So he stood up. The best way to divert the girl's bad feelings is just one. The book.

"I'm going to Foster books. You wanna come?"

Daniel grinned as he found a small spike in Rosaline's body as the girl turned her head slowly with widened eyes and filled with a twinkle of spirit. Rosaline smiled, instantly nodding steadily as she heard the word 'books' from Daniel's mouth.

"Then be prepared. We're gone in an hour."

After leaving the cafe with two other employees, the two went straight to Foster books. Rosaline sat herself in the passenger seat, right next to Daniel, enjoying the road through the car window.

Daniel occasionally steals glances, noticing Rosaline who is again immersed in his own thoughts, though he still finds an enthusiastic twinkle in the girl's emerald iris.

"You all right?" Daniel asked.

"I'm fine. I was just thinking about what book I would buy later" he replied.

Daniel smiled. "You can buy any book there, Rosie. For your information, Foster books mostly sell classic story books, rare, and maybe books that are no longer printed."

"Like Shakespeare?"

Daniel nodded. "yeah. Like Shakespeare."

Daniel smiled as he saw the aura of excitement gushing back from the girl. He hummed and returned his head straight to the road and pressed the gas pedal to speed up the vehicle.

Within minutes, the car stopped in front of an 18th-century green exterior. Rosaline, pay close attention to the building. He stood at the door of the store waiting for Daniel to park his car.

As Daniel ran up to him, Rosaline grabbed the doorknob and pushed him, set her foot and entered followed by Daniel from behind. Instantly the smell of old books gushed into the nose, as if welcoming the arrival of the two customers.

Rosaline circulated her gaze, observing each shelf where the old books were neatly arranged there. He slowly stepped out his legs as his hands gently rubbed each front cover of the book.

Rosaline looked over as Daniel called out to her.

The man showed me a book of Shakespeare's novels called Hamlet. Rosaline ran to the man and took the book from his hand and read it.

Unknowingly Daniel developed a small, sincere smile. It felt like he wanted to stroke the girl's head like a father who was happy to see his little daughter happy. Now, he wondered inwardly.

Is this what Julian always felt every time he took care of those two twin boys? Nah. Daniel did not want to admit it blatantly, but he was envious. Envy of Julian who gets a chance to take care of both of them like his own biological child.

After advising Rosaline to pick up all the books she wanted, Daniel realizes someone is watching them from a distance. He looked around and found an old man standing far away from them.

"There's a lot of Shakespeare on the back. If you don't think, I can show it to you."

Rosaline turned to Daniel, asking for permission, before she nodded and allowed him to follow the old man. From behind, the two walked over, looking around with curious gazes, while the old man led the way.

They stopped in front of a shelf that read Shakespeare on it. Rosaline, immediately ran towards the shelf and pulled some novel books from there. He looked at Daniel for a moment before looking around and found a glimpse of a girl standing behind them.

Rosalyn. Instantly feel familiar with that wavy black hair. He slowly stepped his feet towards the woman, making Daniel and the nearby old man shrivel in surprise.

He gaped wide as he looked at the woman's face from the side. Suddenly the books he was holding fell down, creating a loud noise, making the entire store startled and turned towards them.

"Yourlie!" Rosaline.

"Oh, long time no see," he replied casually.

A sigh of relief immediately came out of the mouth

Rosalyn. Daniel, he looked at Rosaline and looked at the black haired woman closely. He knew. Daniel knew her even though she didn't know him.

"Where have you been all this time?" Rosaline was worried. She clasped Kaylie's shoulder with happiness while the woman just looked at her confusedly.

"Scorsing."

Rosaline felt her legs go limp. So all this time Kaylie was just suspended? Rosaline raised her gaze only to find Kaylie's astonished expression when she found Rosaline glaring wide at her.

"What's that expression of yours?"

Rosaline shook her head quickly. "No. I'm just happy. Well, it's nice that you're not expelled from college. I thought because you had a fight with Clark and he was the golden money you were kicked out."

Kaylie. "Well, I have friends. He helped me solve this problem. Though I wish I was expelled from Westminster, that way I won't go to college there again, let alone one faculty with the arrogant golden money. But my friend even helped me and here I am, serving this shitty suspension sentence."

Kaylie twitched her shoulders indifferently without realizing that Rosaline was being filled with clouds of relief in her heart. Kaylie would never know how worried Rosaline was from thinking about her whereabouts all along. Either overnight or for weeks.

But now, he could sleep soundly without any more nightmares and horrible shadows coming at him whenever his eyes closed.

At least he can breathe a sigh of relief now.

Yep. Least.
