Building Bonds

It snowed so hard all night. Sanubari watched it from behind a glass wall. For some reason, he wanted to know how the white grains looked as they descended from the sky.

Perhaps, it would be better if he stood directly out there, under the snowfall. However, Aeneas forbids.

Sanubari just recovered. The man did not want his son to relapse from playing in the cold for too long. Sanubari is still often dumbfounded, but the situation is much better than before.

It's not easy to walk around Canda to restore Sanubari's consciousness. When they let Sanubari have fun at will, the teenager sinks deeper into her comfort zone. It lasted for months.

Until finally, Canda decided to offend sensitive things in every therapy session. As a result, it is not uncommon for Sanubari to again hallucinate about bad things.

Sometimes he saw corpses, blood, ghosts, and other creepy things. When that happens, Sanubari will run in fear. He also became very quiet. Even so, Sanubari will return cheerful after consulting Canda.

The peak when the cassava harvest two days before. Sanubari suddenly screamed. He pelted anyone with cassava tubers. He also tried to run, but fell down from a stumble.

He broke the trunk of a cassava tree and was about to stick it to himself. Sai and Renji swiftly held Sanubari. Canda also directly hypnotized on the spot.

Afterwards, Sanubari did not remember at all about his hysteria. He only remembered about harvesting cassava and friends who had been out since when he was there.

Canda and Zunta are still staying at Aeneas' house. The grandfather had to make sure Sanubari was mentally strong enough before returning home. That night, Zunta sat down with Sanubari. He fell asleep leaning on Sanubari's arm. Sanubari carried Zunta to his room, then returned to his original place, sitting facing his own porch.

Snow is very heavy. The wind was too strong. Sanubari could not see clearly how snowflakes actually existed. The white powder piled up on the fence. The temperature outside also reached minus five degrees Celsius.

Snowstorms rumbled outside. Sanubari's heart and soul had been hit by such a cold storm. In fact, it's colder than any storm out there. Extreme weather that can not be predicted like the heart of Sanubari is adrift. Suppose there was no warm room, maybe he was frozen now. So did Sanubari's heart without the presence of those around him who always supported him.

The night is getting late, until Sanubari unknowingly falls asleep in the second-floor family room. He woke up when it sounded like asphalt was scratched.

The view outside was still dark, but Sanubari walked up to the glass wall, sliding the door.

A cold wind instantly blew into Sanubari's face, making him shiver and unable to hold back the stumbling teeth. Nevertheless, he kept walking out, setting foot into an eye-level pile of snow.

Sanubari looked down. Apparently, there were some workers who were dredging snow below. The noise came from them, from the ends of the spades clashing with the tiles.

Seeing the snow around him, Sanubari wanted to make something. He's collecting piles of snow on the fence. It was not as cold as the wind.

Sanubari continued to make snowballs of different sizes. When he gathered three, he stacked them into snow puppets, then made another one.

"Sanu, what are you doing outside?" the new Aeneas's warning is coming.

"Make family."

Sanubari was still crouching, engrossed in rounding the snow with his bare hands. He's almost done building his fourth snow doll—the smallest doll at once last.

"Hurry in! You'll get a fever again."

"After I finish this."

Hearing that answer, Aeneas did not insist. He left Sanubari. Four dolls have lined up. Sanubari smiled at him.

However, there is still less. He dyed. There is nothing to be used. Sanubari looked down.

A thought suddenly flashed. He pulled all his pajamas out. Just the amount. Five main studs, two backups, and one pocket. They can be four pairs of eyes. In a short period of time, all the buttons of the clothes had been attached to the head of the snow puppet.

Not long after, Aeneas brought back two large muk of warm milk. Put the drink on the table.

"Sanu, don't stay outside for long!" said.

Sanubari ran in, past Aeneas, leaving the glass doors wide open. Aeneas stood confused to see Sanubari leave.

"Does he still hate me?" thought Aeneas grimly.

A gust of cold from behind made the man realize that the door was still open. He turned around, stepped out. In one corner of the veranda, stood two large snow puppets flanking a medium snow puppet. While a small snow puppet was standing in front of a medium snow puppet. Aeneas suddenly remembered Sanubari's words.

Aeneas smilingly looked at Sanubari's Masterpiece. The doll seemed to say that he was still considered a father.

Without a word, Sanubari returned. He stood up, crouched down, kneeling in search of the right angle to photograph. Apparently, his departure was to pick up a cell phone.

In the midst of his busy life, Sanubari suddenly asked, "Why did Papa leave mamak?"

Sanubari just thought about this. Himself was astonished. In the past, he never questioned why his father had never been around from birth to ten years. Because of that, he even had time to think really the son of Satan like a citizen teasing or indeed has no father at all.

"You mean?"

"Me, mom, and grandpa. We were just three, and then my dad picked me up and my mom when I was ten. Why didn't you stay with us in the first place?"

"I didn't know your mother and I were married."

"Well, does that mean you don't love your mommy?"

"I don't know. I was too busy taking care of work, to the point of not having time to think about women. If it wasn't for your grandmother urging me to get married, maybe I wouldn't have remembered there was Sanum in Indonesia. I'll never know you exist either."

That explanation did not satisfy Sanubari. He was a little disappointed, Aeneas turned out to come to him not on his own accord. It sounded like his father was insincere.

"So, right. Papa doesn't care about us."

Sentence by sentence Sanubari said it made Aeneas feel he was being tested. The answer may determine the improvement and deterioration of their relationship.

"I mean, I fell in love with your mother again after remembering her."

"But Papa forgot us. Papa also forgot his own marriage. Is that what you call loving? Papa sounds unsure."

Sanubari's camera is still on, some shots he's already got. He was still staring at the screen just as a diversion.

"Sanu, if I never loved your mother, then you would never have been born. Your sisters too. Jikw is done photographing, come on in! I'll tell you everything."

Aeneas was open that morning. He tells his story with Sanum, as well as the fact Sanubari has a sister other than the UKA.

"From all Papa's stories, it feels awkward. It's impossible for someone to be unaware of his own marriage, right? Except, amnesia."

Sanubari sits bent on his knees on the sofa. She was holding the milk still warm.

Aeneas picks up Sanbari's phone lying on the table. He types.

"I didn't speak Indonesian at the time. They thought I was mute and couldn't speak sign language. They told me to copy the writing onto a piece of paper. I can't believe it, just because of the handwriting that we could be tied to a wedding."

Aeneas hands Sanubari's phone. Sanubari looked at the sentence written on the note. There is a sentence that reads, 'I received the marriage and marriage of Sanum bint Salamun with the dowry of one fried fish pindang paid following.'.

"What's this?"

"Kabul," answered Aeneas straightforwardly.

This conversation made him reminisce about the past. He Kimi understood why people who helped him in the past suddenly told him to go to sea and fry fish at that time.

"He doesn't speak Indonesian, remember?"

"Your mother told me when we got back together."

"So, just by writing this down on paper and seeing some grown men, we can get married?"

In response to the son's question, Aeneas nodded. Aeneas himself does not understand how marriage in Indonesia is run. Moreover, Sanubari who never received education properly.

Sanubari thought he should be careful in the future. It would be troublesome if he accidentally married someone the same as his father experienced.
