Sanubari rubbed his eyes. A little grasshopper had just jumped in front of him. He did not understand, the cassava leaf in front suddenly disappeared.
He stands. As far as the eye could see, there were only swaths of rice fields of different varieties.
The smell of the ground. The air feels so refreshing. Water threads are still attached to grasses and rice field plants.
Sanubari stands in the middle of the roosters. Junior walked in front of him. He stretches his hands while holding flip-flops.
Sanubari followed him without calling. Junior ran, jumped into the river. He laughed off.
Sanubari. He wanted to come back like that, like a kid who could spend a day without a burden.
"God will forgive you as long as you truly repent."
Another voice sounded from behind. Sanubari. Abrizar was standing there, smiling at him.
"Receive your fear as a friend, Sanu!"
Suddenly, Canda had stood next to Abrizar just like that. He smiled at her too. Without Sanubari noticing, a pair of hands grabbed him from behind.
"You're gonna be fine. Papa is always here, with you!"
The whisper sounded soft, warming Sanubari's ears. However, he rebelled, pushing Aeneas, until he himself almost fell. Before that happened, someone caught him from behind. The man held both his shoulders.
"You can't do that! Look at! You make your papa sad."
He pointed at the moody Aeneas. However, Sanubari only caught a glimpse of it. He turned around to look at the woman behind him.
Sanubari. It was the most precious woman for Sanubari. The teenager smiled broadly.
He exclaimed in excitement, "Mamak!"
"Preace yourself! Make peace with your father!"
Sanum rubbed Sanubari's head gently. That's a habit Sanum used to do when Sanubari was a kid.
Sanubari. He had tried hard to forgive Aeneas, but it was difficult for him to return to his usual attitude towards the man like he was once. There was an uncomfortable swish in his chest every time he saw Aeneas.
Although Sanubari was happy to have Aeneas be his father, pick him up, lift him out of poverty and bullying, give him a decent life, but one event changed everything. His heart was wounded by Aeneas.
The wound was so painful. His license might be forgiving. However, his mind is very difficult to compromise. He shook his head hard.
"Bad papa! I don't want papa anymore. I'd better stay in Indonesia without papa. If it could be so, maybe, maybe, maybe this isn't ...," Sanubari's outspoken mind.
Sanubari's shoulders are shaking. His body felt shrunk, constantly shivering. His head was even only as tall as Sanum's stomach.
Sanum quickly grabbed Sanubari's shoulder. He knelt down, aligned high with Sanubari.
"Stop! You can't be like this, Sanu! You must not erase their presence! You can't be alone here!"
Sanum removes the fur that goes down Sanubari's cheek with his right thumb. They look at each other.
"alone?"
Sanubari. He did not understand Sanum's words. At the moment, he doesn't feel alone. There's mom. The missing Aeneas, Canda, and Abrizar escape Sanubari's attention.
"It's destiny. I don't think it'll change anything."
The words sparked a desire for rebellion in Sanubari. His hands were tightly clenched. While his eyes glared.
"Destiny? What destiny? Papa ended mamak's destiny!"
Sanubari's intonation exploded. Never before had he raised a voice in front of Sanum like this. Sanubari.
The shadow of the tragedy that night stirred up Sanubari's emotions. However, upon realizing that Sanum was in front of him, Sanubari became intrigued.
"Mamak is alive? Mama is here. I'm not alone."
Sanubari laughed awkwardly. Sanum pulled him in an embrace.
"Sanu, your father is innocent. Remember this well! Your father loves you very much. Like I love you. Do you know what people do when they love others?"
Sanum said again, "Keep your feelings."
Sanubari. Sanubari questioned that. He couldn't find anything if he looked back six years. His association with Aeneas was very short. Just two years.
"For that, there's no way your dad would get rid of someone you care about, right?"
That question dragged Sanubari to the beginning of his meeting with Aeneas. At that time, he had refused to go to Italy if his mother was not invited. However, Aeneas apparently did not leave Sanum.
Aeneas never scolded her nor Sanum. Both are even more frequent displays of affection on many occasions. Sanubari blinked. In an instant, his mind was empty.
"We love you."
Aeneas was again present, hugging him from behind. Sanubari is squeezed, like meat in a hamburger.
"Didn't you promise to teach me how to make cheese?"
Anki suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Stand behind Sanum. Sanubari raised his head.
"What about our deal?"
Abrizar reappears, standing next to Anki. To the left of Anki, Eiji appeared.
"How can we be a family if you choose to stay away from us?"
"We just want you to come back unconditionally."
The figure of Canda appears with Zunta. The girl said, "No matter what your background is, you are still Sanu."
"Whatever your mistake, we want to stay with you."
Kelana smiles. Everyone is smiling. Including Junior who stood on the other side.
Time froze for Sanubari. Sanum's figure faded, became more transparent, and disappeared completely.
"Reception is true freedom."
The voice made Sanubari look to the right. That's where Junior stood.
Little grasshoppers fly past Sanubari. They gathered around Junior, growing, until his entire body was covered. As the green bugs scatter, Junior disappears.
The scenery around Sanubari transitions from rice fields, into a cassava plantation that is quite dense. Sanubari's body grew.
Cassava tubers were scattered everywhere, cassava trunks were broken. The people around Sanubari are growing.
Hana and Hanan were there too. Sai and Renji held her on the left and right. Canda crouched in front of Sanubari. He pressed the teenager's feet while looking into his fixed eyes.
"All of you, why gather here? Where did the giant grasshoppers go?" ask Sanubari.
As he remembered, he was harvesting cassava with the locusts. However, the locusts suddenly disappeared. There are only people he knows.
Realizing the difference to Sanubari, Abrizar immediately asked, "Sanu, who am I?"
"Sister Abri."
"How do you see me?"
"Black glasses, carrying a black stick."
That answer did not satisfy Abrizar. Like that, Sanubari considered it since he fell ill. He needed a more specific answer.
So Abrizar asked, "I am a man or a grasshopper?"
Hearing that silly question, Sanubari frowned. He replied, "Of course it's human."
"It's good that your eyes are working properly again!"
Renji presses Sanubari's head, causing the teenager's head to bow. Zunta was jubilant among the men. He hugged Sanubari.
Canda smiled with satisfaction. His hypnotherapy method this time managed to pull Sanubari out.
