It was a very long night of questioning by the police, local security officers and Alan. I don't know exactly who sounded the alarm and who texted me how he found my number. But I couldn't tell Alan and Adrian the truth, I was afraid they would get angry, even though they were trying to keep protecting me. I have to be extra careful about my days.
“This makes no sense.” Adrian said in frustration, since the police arrived here, he just rubbed his hands in his hair, so it looks messy.
“Nothing is wrong, there is only a slowness in the alarm.” I'm explaining.
Tonight was full of questions and we were stuck here, drying the paper and trying to calm the situation, my pet next to the store started making a fuss for an entire hour, he said, open fertilizer and seedlings are also wet and will be damaged if not dried quickly. We contacted Kenny, so we got extra help cleaning up the mess, my computer and my cash register broke, but luckily I had all my important files on my hard drive, so I can copy it on my laptop.
After we finished cleaning, we all went home, Alan went to bed without changing his clothes and Adrian, he dropped himself on the sofa and started snoring a little. I can't blame them, it's five in the morning and soon the sun will shine in about an hour. I snuggled up in bed.
July 18th is always my favorite day, there will be parades, food festivals, fireworks and I love it. The sound of fireworks exploding, beautiful colors illuminate the night sky. I always get up early to see the festival go on. I got up from my bed in the spirit of 45, also immediately woke the two of them up, for breakfast, after which I saw them two wearing his uniform, my heart melted seeing him. I walked up to them and kissed Alan's cheek and I then sat down, Adrian cleared his throat looking at me, his fingers started tapping his cheek giving a code for me to kiss him. My face started to redden as I leaned over and started to kiss her and quickly pulled away.
“Do you guys want to come with me this morning, see the festival?” I asked.
“Ya, of course, why not?”
Spending time celebrating the festival with my brother and Adrian was much more fun than spending time alone. Wherever we went, men and women thanked, respected and shook hands with strangers, a boy approached Alan and pulled his pants, Alan then knelt down to face the little boy and smiled at him. The boy was wearing a military hat while holding a flag.
“What can I do for my soldiers?” Alan asked with his voice. The boy was shy and he just stared at the ground.
“I want to thank you, for protecting our Country.” He said in a small voice. Alan smiled.
“Ya, and I love your hat.” He praised.
“Thank you.” He said, a little smiling. “It's got my dad.” The boy said proudly, Alan smiled.
“Chrales! Charles, where are you, son?” We looked up and saw a woman, looked at the little boy and started running.
“I'm sorry, he pointed to you guys and said if he wanted to talk to you guys, I don't want him to bother you.” The woman spoke.
“No problem mom, I'm happy to talk to her.” The mother smiled and took Charles.
“I can't wait for my dad to come home and see myself growing up. Someday I'll be as big as him.” Charles pointed to Adrian. The mother's face instantly changed as they began to remember her husband. He then pushed back the little boy's hair and started kissing his forehead.
“Your father will be home soon. He'll be happy to see you.” His voice trembled as he tried to stay strong in front of his son.
Something took over my attention, I then walked up to him and hugged him, Adrian took the boy from his linen so as to allow him to hug me back and quietly cry on my shoulder.
“Very difficult.” He said his tears were starting to come out. “Akumerindunya.” Alan and Adrian asked Charles to go get ice cream, while I talked to his mother.
“Daddy disappeared since 3 months ago, and the sar team and others did not find them, he was declared missing a week later.” He rubbed his nose and wiped his tears.
“On Charles' seventh birthday, I heard a knock on the door.” He started crying again as his memories started to appear in his mind.
“They told me that my husband was found dead.” I grabbed her hand and squeezed it, trying to give her comfort.
“Charles still doesn't understand anything. He was very small to know the fact that his father would never return.” I sympathize with him.
“Well, I think, once Charles has grown up, and is old enough to understand what happened, he will be a great man.” It seemed that the tension that was happening to him was beginning to subside and try to relax himself, just then Charles ran with vigor and jumped into his mother's lap.
“Bu, I'm very happy. The soldiers were very kind to me, ma'am.” She exclaimed and smiled, her mother rubbed her hair behind her ear and smiled.
“Yes, they are very good, son.” We waved at them as we parted, they went home and went to the fireworks festival. The bright colors in the night sky illuminated the buildings and our faces, everyone here cheered and applauded, every burst of fireworks, the show lasted for almost an hour and the last fireworks were shaped like our flag.
When they set off the fireworks, our national anthem was turned and everyone put their hands on their chest, Alan and Adrian respecting the flag when it was over. It was a happy day, no chaos. I wish I could enjoy this happiness all the time.
