When they get home, they hold hands and Vania holds her stomach.
"I can't believe I'm gonna be a father."
"And you will be the happiest person.”
"Thank you." Frans looked at her with love.
"For?"
“Always be on my side. Not leaving me even though I'm really fragile and messy."
"You're not messy, and fragile, you're just experiencing a lot of pain ."
"Yes, I hope it all stops and goes away." He sighed.
"Yes, just give yourself time.”
"Tomorrow, mother's funeral.” Vania whispered as if it was a secret, a secret that Frans did not expect.
"Yes, we'll be fine.” They parked in front of the house.
"Where's Bram?"
"I don't know ..." Shrugged his shoulders.
"Don't you leave him alone in your house?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"Come, let's see." They walked out of the car and into the house. "Bram!"
"Hello? Is anyone home?"
"Check upstairs." Vania walks upstairs to Bram's room. He opened the door and saw her sitting on the wall with a bottle of drink in her hand.
"Oh my goodness, Frans! Frans! Come here!" Frans appeared right beside her in a matter of seconds. He saw Bram and walked up to him. He took the bottle from his hand and Bram looked up.
"Bram, why are you drinking?" Bram just looked at her. "My answer!"
"We care. We care about you, Bram. You are everything to us. We love you so much." Vania continued to cry quietly. "We're going to live happily now. We're gonna be a family. The happy." Shouted Bram louder. "I promise. I promise, to you. We'll never leave you. I will never leave you. I promise." They hugged each other tighter. Frans calmed her down a few minutes later and placed her in bed. "Rest, Bram." Frans and Vania walked out and closed the door. They walked into Vania's old room. He sits on his bed.
"He's only 15. And he had to experience all this; lose all the people he loved.” He cried and hugged his knees. "It's my fault; I've always not been there for her."
"It wasn't your fault. It's all fate, don't blame yourself. We're all having a hard time, it's not just you feeling it." Frans grabbed Vania's body and hugged her.
"But he feels more trouble not me! He's 15 years old! 15! And he had to lose so many meaningful people in his life, so many .. he was just a kid. He should be happy." Voice's up.
"Hey, do you remember what you were like when you were 15?" She tried to look him in the eye, but Vania kept moving.
"Yes ..." She wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
"Are you happy?"
"Sometimes." He sobs.
"Exactly, sometimes, not every time. You know why, because that's the problem when you're a teenager. You have so much to worry about. You have family, friends, school, the past, the future, and above all you are alone. Being a teenager is difficult, so we must always be there for him. Bram deserves to be happy. You're right, he still has to live his life ahead and we'll make him strong. That's what we're for. We will make him a great person and for our children as well. We will be a happy family. Everything will change. " He promised.
"Did you mean it when you told Bram you weren't going?" He finally met his gaze.
"I made an appointment, didn't I? And I always keep my promises. I'll never leave you." He kissed.
"Can we lie down for a while?" He nodded and they hugged each other tightly, promising themselves that they would never leave each other.
When they all woke up, they realized it was the day of her mother's funeral. They all tried their best to keep smiling in the presence of others, but they could not, today was their last farewell day. They were all dressed in all black and Vania covered her eyes with a veil so that her tears would not be seen before everyone. They walked into the car and went to the cemetery, they all fell silent. No one spoke a word. The coffin surrounded everyone, then Frans climbed onto the podium and said a few words of farewell.
"Today is the day we say goodbye to a wonderful woman, my mother. All my life, she's been the strongest woman I know. She is the greatest mother of all time. After my father left us, my mother had no choice but to do two roles in her life, being a mother and a father to me. He's my hero. He tried his hardest to stay alive, but fate had another will and it was time for him to leave. I realized that everyone can't stay forever and there's nothing you can do to prevent that. You must learn to let go. But I will never let go of my mother, I will never forget her. She was the most beautiful thing that ever existed in my life, apart from the love of my life. He made me realize that I loved him. He was the only person who never let me go. He was always there for me. Even when I hate him he's still being nice to me. Because that's the sincerity of a mother who loves you unconditionally. No matter how I am, he understands. He let me be whatever I wanted. He just wants me to be happy. I know he's here all around us staring at me today, and I just wanted to tell him that I love you. I'll always love you, Mom." Frans wiped his tears and walked next to Vania. He grabbed her hand and she grabbed Bram's hand. The priest said his words and then they put the coffin in the hole.
"See you, mom." They covered it with earth and everyone left, except the three of them. They all just stared at his tombstone. Frans walked there, kissing while putting his hands on the tombstone, they did the same.
"We will always love you." They looked at him again and walked away.
