Several months passed and they were all still mourning the passing of his mother. Vania tries her best to keep her energy positive for her son. He wanted his son to be born happy, not depressed. The day of her examination arrived, Vania and Frans went to the doctor.
Arriving at the gynecology clinic, the two of them waited in line. And it was time for Vania's turn to be checked out. Doctors instructed Vania to sit on a safe with the ultrasound machine on her stomach, looking at the monitor.
"Now you see that head?" Doctor asked. They both nodded. "That's your son. Wait a minute, I see two heads."
"What are you saying, doctor?" Vania asked.
"You're gonna have twins!" Vania and Frans looked at each other and smiled. Frans took his hand.
"We're going to have twins." He said, smiling.
"Are you happy and happy?" Vania asked.
"Of course, honey. I feel like the luckiest man in the world." Frans kissed.
"Now, do you want to know the sex of your twins?" Doctor asked. They look at each other.
"Do you want to know?" Vania asked.
"Well, sure." Frans smiled at him. "Yes, we want to know her gender." The doctor smiled and got up. He came back with a piece of paper.
"It looks like you're going to have one daughter, and one son."
"Oh my God, I thank you. Golden twins are always what we want." Said Frans. They kiss each other again.
After they finished checking her womb with their doctor, they decided to start shopping for supplies for their twins. Frans continues to choose cute outfits for her little girl and Vania chooses sweet outfits for her little man. They bought a baby carriage and two cribs. After returning home, they brought all the baby items to the nursery they had prepared a few weeks ago. They start to arrange the bed and suddenly Bram comes in.
"Why do you have two cribs?" Bram asked.
"We'll soon have twins!" Frans is excited. Bram's face was filled with joy.
"Male or female?"
"We have both." Vania says.
"That's great. Can I help you?" They both nodded and Bram helped them to organize and prepare the nursery. Later, Vania makes dinner and they all sit at the table. They started eating and talking.
Kingggg! Phone's ringing.
"Let me lift it." Frans said while rising. He walked into the kitchen and picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"May I speak with Frans A. Samuel?"
"You who? And who am I talking to?"
"This is Lieutenant William. I've been trying to contact you for the past few days."
"What's up, sir?" He was surprised to hear the call from her.
"You are re-recruited. We need you in about seven weeks. You know the consequences if you don't come. Hope we meet soon, soldier.
"But.." Frans hasn't been able to answer, Lieutenant has hung up. Frans put down the phone. He walked back to the table and sat down.
"Who is that, baby?" Vania asked, noticing the sadness in Frans' eyes.
"People are wrong." Frans quickly said. He wasn't sure if he wanted to tell her. He promised him that he would not go to the military again.
"if it's a misalignment, why did you talk so long?"
"Hmm, he asked me, whether he was talking to the person he wanted to contact or not, and I answered him no and you got it wrong.”
"Oh, okay. Let's continue eating."
A month and a half passed. Frans was still thinking about what the Lieutenant said the other day. He knew he was supposed to stay, but he had to leave. She knows she can't leave her twins, nor Vania. Everything was so complicated, his mind was in chaos.
At the end of the day, what they were waiting for arrived.
"French! My water's broken! Awh." awh." Vania screaming. Frans ran towards her and lifted her into the car. He tried his best to stay calm. Bram followed. Frans rushed to the hospital. Officers removed Vania from the car and placed her on top of the safe and took her to the delivery room. Bram lives in the waiting room. A few hours later, their twins were born. Frans holds her daughter, while Vania embraces her son on the bed. They kiss each other.
"So, what is the best name we give our two little ones?" Ask Frans.
"For the boys I'll name you Alvin."
"And the female, Alice. Alvin and Alice." They both smiled and called Bram. "Bram, please greet your nieces, Alvin and Alice"
"That's a beautiful name." Bram smile. "Can I hold him?"
"Of course." Frans gives Alice first, and then turns to Alvin. While Vania holds Alice and Bram holding Alvin, they are amazed. Alice takes her father's brown eyes, while Alvin takes her mother's beautiful black eyes.
"They're perfect." Frans said, with tears in his eyes.
After a few days Vania was in the hospital. He allowed the doctor to go home. They then took their little babies home and put them in their beds.
"They're so cute." Vania says.
"That's because they're following us." Frans wrapped his hands around Vania's waist.
"April 14 is our children's birthday."
"It's nice to say ‘our kids’." She smiles.
"Yes. If only our mother were here with us. I will love them with all my heart."
"Dad if only our mother were with us."
"Yes, if only. I miss him so much." He closed his eyes, remembering both of their faces. "French?" He opened his eyes and looked at her.
"Yes?"
"Because I remember when I said that we were going to name her Alice? I really like that name, didn't your mother used to be Alice's middle name. I bet our son has a soul like your mother."
"Yes. She's beautiful, just like my mom." Vania looked at her beautiful daughter.
"Now, tell me why you named our son Alvin." He grins.
"I don't know. I just like that name."
"It's better we give him a name not because of anyone else." They both laughed. "Our children's hearts would be heartbroken, if they found out later?"
"Why say that?" Eyebrows wrinkling.
"Because our children are beautiful and handsome. Our sons will break all the hearts of the women later and our daughters will break the hearts of men by rejecting them. She can't date or date anyone until she's twenty."
"My age is 20 and I already have two kids." Vania laughs.
"If it's for both of us, it's okay. But for our little Alice, she can't date or date until I say she can." She placed her hand on Alice's stomach and she smiled. "He will focus on school and be an accomplished child. He's-"
"Honey, he's only a few days old and you've been planning his future?"
"I'm his father. That's what I do."
"So, what about Alan?"
"Alan can date and date at any age she wants. But he will also be the best student in his school later.”
"And what if he's not like that?"
"Then her older sister will master it." They both smiled and watched their babies fall asleep.
Phone's ringing.
"I'm gonna pick up the phone first." Frans walked downstairs to pick up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Can I talk to Frans?"
"Yes, I'm alone."
"Nick, this is Lieutenant William, remember me?"
"How could I forget?" He rolled his eyes.
"Now, Son. You know you have to be here today."
"My children have just been born today, sir. How is it possible."
"I get it, but I can't change the rules, plus we need you here."
"Is the situation still bad, sir?"
"Yes, right. And I checked your files; you never let us down."
"I know, Sir. But I don't want to disappoint my family."
"We never want to do that to you, but sometimes there are things we have to do."
"But, Mr ..." He sighed.
"Son, you know, if you don't show up you'll be arrested."
"Yes I know, sir."
"We'll be waiting for you next Monday." He then hung up the phone.
"Who's calling?" Frans turned around and looked at Vania.
"No. It's nobody, baby.”
"Don't lie to me, Frans Samuel." They both know that one of them is angry or not full of patience, they must say each other's long names.
"That's a call from Lieutenant William." He sighed.
"And what does he want?"
"He wants me to go back to guarding the border."
"What's? Now you're a father!" His eyebrows formed together, showing a puzzled expression.
"I know baby, I know it."
"Please tell me you're not going there."
"I don't have a choice, sayng." Frans held his hand.
"You can't go!" Vania withdrew from him.
"Darling! I have no choice! If I don't leave, I'll be arrested!"
"What if you don't come back? Do I have to raise our children alone?" Tears flowed in Vania's eyes.
"No, you won't raise our children alone. We both know we've been living without a father, and I don't want my children to feel the same way we've ever felt; these kids are gonna have the greatest dad in the world." Frans leaned over to kiss her. Vania took a step forward Frans.
"You promise?"
"I promise." She smiled and let Frans kiss her.
