The sound of knocking on the door shocked Widya. Humped from where she lay, Widya touched her temple which suddenly felt dizzy. It felt like he had just closed his eyes, but if he saw the wall clock in the living room he seemed to have fallen asleep for almost an hour. The sound of a knock on the door reminded Widya of the guest who had disturbed her comfortable sleep.
"Who is this day coming. Don't know if anyone else is sleeping." Widya violently opened the door while showing an unhappy expression.
"Oh! Sorry distracting. This is Grandma Aya's house, isn't it?" ask the woman standing in front of Widya.
"Yes, right."
"Then, you're her grandson?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"That's pretty. Introduce my name Mila and this..," point it at the man next to her. "Radrite."
The man simply nodded his head in an indifferent manner. Widya doesn't like it right away.
"My name is Widya."
Stretching out her hand, Mila gave a greeting. "Greetings, yes." Seeing that her hand was not welcomed, Mila pulled her hand back. "God! I'm stupid." Rubbing both her hands on the shirt, Mila was grinning. "I forgot my hands were dirty, hehe."
Widya simply replied with a wry smile.
"Ehem." Radit thrusts black plastic at Widya. "Aya's grandmother from yesterday wanted to eat mangoes. So, today I plucked it from Mila's orchard."
"Hmmm...." Widya touched the plastic with her thumb and index finger. "Thank you."
"Then, we'll excuse you." Radit dragged Mila away.
"See you later, Widya." Mila waved her hand at Widya.
Closing the door, Widya immediately threw the plastic on the table.
What a shitty guy, so rude.
"You why the hell, how rude is that with Widya?"
"It's not me who's rude but him, La. Didn't you see what he looked like who was pouting when he opened the door earlier? Really annoying."
"You're too sensitive, ah. He's just upset that we're disturbing his sleep."
"Not to mention the way to refuse your handshake and the attitude of taking plastic earlier. Holy hooch! That's so rough on that girl."
"Don't sensian that dong, Dit. What's wrong with keeping clean? My hands and plastic are dirty. You threw it not right. It became dirty because my hands picked up the fruit from the ground. And I told you, that old plastic was too messy."
"Of course I'll put it in my pants pocket. But the plastic is new." Radit defended himself, not accepted accused of giving used plastic. "You're too good, La. I suggest keep your distance from that arrogant woman."
"Don't do that, he just came from the city. He's gonna need a friend."
"People like that, I sure don't need friends."
"We'll see!"
In the afternoon..
"Wid, this is what's on the table?" she asked her grandmother to remove the black plastic from the living room.
"Oh, That. Last afternoon there was someone here to send, he said grandma wanted mango from yesterday," replied Widya, turning her head from her stomach position on her bedroom mattress.
""Why don't you clean and put it in the fridge, Wid? It'll be rotten, baby. Radit must be tired of getting this for grandma."
"Who the hell is he, Grandma? His behavior doesn't appreciate it."
"The son of Mr. Kades. Don't be silly, Wid. Radit's a good, friendly boy."
"Ha! What kind of friendly," Widya snorted.
The sound of her grandmother coughing from the kitchen made Widya aware that her grandmother was currently sick. Moving out of bed, Widya approached her grandmother in the kitchen.
"Oh my goodness, Grandma. Here, let me wash it. Grandma's sick again, so, just take a break!"
"Much rest, Grandma's head becomes dizzy. It feels like grandma's body is also sore," complained Grandma, walking up to the dining table to sit there. "Oh yeah, Wid, have you eaten?"
"Not to worry about me, Grandma. I can take care of myself."
"Of course, grandma is worried. You can't cook, Wid."
His Grandmother said Widya.
"There's a lot of people out there selling food. So, as long as there's money I can still eat it."
"It's not good to eat food outside. Hold on, grandma remembers something." Moving from his seat, his grandmother approached the house phone in the corner of the living room.
Hitting someone's phone number steadily, her grandmother talks to an obnoxious person named Radit to ask for help looking after Widya during her time here. Approaching her grandmother, Widya shook her head, a sign of not wanting that. However, her grandmother continued to chat without bullying Widya. Finished conveying her request, her grandmother hung up the phone with a satisfied smile.
"Grandma, I don't need the nyebelin guy's help. I can take care of myself."
"Grandmother doubted it. Don't protest anymore, it's for your own good."
Tapping her feet to the floor, Widya observed her grandmother. "I suspect, maybe Grandma's trying to match me to that Radit Nyebelin."
"Stop suspecting grandma like that. Grandma just wants you to mingle with the people here, and Radit is perfect to accompany you around to get to know this village further."
"I don't want to blend in or get to know this village. I'm comfortable at home."
"Omong empty. Grandma knows you're easily bored" she said. "Well, let's eat mangoes! It must taste so good."
Rubbing his hands together, his grandmother took the mango that Widya had washed. Behind him, Widya sighed resignedly. He did not want to argue any longer with his ailing grandmother.
