"Oy, Dit, are you listening to me?" Deni waved his hand in front of Radit's face.
Patting his friend's shoulder, Radit walked past him. "I go first, I have something to do."
With a rash move, Radit left Deni. He did not want to buy any more time, slow one step, maybe Gilang had already left here before he met him.
Out of his farm yard, Radit almost hit someone, who was about to break into his farm. Grabbing his hands swiftly, Radit helped the man stand firm.
"Why are you here?" ask him to Nadin. "You better go home, I don't have time to wait for you."
"Wait a minute!" Nadin grabbed his wrist. "I just want to say goodbye to you."
His words were enough to stop Radit as he was about to pull the rough of his wrist from Nadin. What else is this? There were actually how many people wanted to surprise him today.
"You can calm down now, I will never again disturb your life," he continued, slowly releasing his grip from Radit's hands. "After a few days of contemplating my behavior some time ago, I finally realized, I should not have done that to you or your wife. I'm really sorry."
It felt so hard for Radit to believe Nadin's remorse, after what he had done to his domestic life. However, he could not deny that there was a tone of sincerity in Nadin's voice. Even his eyes showed a deep sense of regret.
However, Radit could not stop his mind wondering, what was the underlying cause of this sudden regret from Nadin. When the last time they met, he still remembered very clearly what Nadin said to him.
That night while Radit was on patrol, he was surprised by Nadin's appearance while walking so haughtily toward him, as if nothing had ever happened to them both.
Before he could say a word to her, Nadin preceded him. He only said a few words, but the sentence was able to silence Radit to the point of not being able to refute his speech. Nadin had made him confused to have to respond how to his outspoken remarks.
In fact, it was not Radit alone who was flabbergasted by the words. Deni, his friend, who was with him at the time, was also unable to hide his surprised reaction.
In his mind, Radit could still hear Nadin's confession that night.
"I say one thing to you, I don't regret at all my actions towards you that day!" Every word he emphasized while looking at him did not waver.
Those few words alone were enough to explain a few things to him. Means Nadin also does not regret his actions that have hurt Widya. If so, why did he apologize to his wife that afternoon? Is he on a show to get sympathy from the people?
Although in his mind was filled with many questions, Radit could not voice it, because Nadin had walked away leaving him and Deni, without even looking.
Now he's here. Once again surprised Radit at this unexpected confession. So, it was only natural that he was a bit overwhelmed when he got the news of his departure. There must be something underlying this sudden departure. Fortunately, after a while Radit was able to recover himself.
"Tell me, what caused you to change your mind like this?" tanyanya, pretend to put on an uninterested look. "The last time we met, you showed no sign of leaving this village as soon as possible. In fact I still remember so clearly what you said that night."
The hue of Nadin's face instantly turned reddish, as if he was deeply ashamed of his attitude that night.
"Regarding that night, I also deeply regretted it," he said, looking down in shame. "I really didn't know what I was thinking at the time. Can you forget it?"
Forgetting it? It's nice that this woman spoke, after she's made me so nervous and scared for a few days every time I leave Widya at home.
His confession that night was enough to evoke the terrible shadows in his head. Radit was very afraid, what would Nadin do again in his household life.
"I forgot about it it felt like it was kind of...." Radit deliberately did not finish his words. "Honestly, your confession that night really surprised me. I didn't know you had such a shameless nature."
"I admit, I did act shameless that night, but now I really regret it" Nadin said, cupping his hands together on his face. "I beg you, Dit, forget my implicit act that night. I. I don't know what else to say."
Nadin stared at him with a face full of regret. It seems like he really regretted it. Although it seemed impossible to forget Nadin's confession that night right now, Radit had no choice but to grant his desperate request.
"All right, I get it. But at least, explain to me, what underlies your sudden departure?"
Did you make a pact with Gilang to leave this village at the same time? Radit held his tongue saying that.
"It seems pointless to keep this from you. Because you will definitely listen to it from others as well," replied Nadin, glancing nervously at him. "And as you know, I didn't come here to stay here forever either. Even though this vacation I took is ha...."
"Can you stop going around!" cut Radit pissed. "Just get to the point, no need to beat around the bush or delay answering my question. I don't have time to listen to your long story."
"You're not so impatient," muttered Nadin, deliberately turning his eyes away from him. "I'll go with my parents. They decided to leave the village forever. Well, I told you!"
There was no immediate response from Radit. What am I supposed to say? Looks like all the residents here are holding a transfer event simultaneously. What's behind it if it's not?
"I know you must be surprised. I understand it very well."
Yeah, very.
"Actually the news of my parents' move is nothing, compared to what I will say next," continued Nadin, commenting on the awkward smile on his lips. "I hope you will understand after listening to it."
Oh my God, what else is this? Not enough he was surprised by the news of the move of some people from this village, now Nadin tells him that there is something more surprising than this news.
Radit observed Nadin growing nervous when he did not get any response from her. He bit his lower lip while looking left and right. It seems that the thing he wanted to say this time was so extraordinary that it made Nadin this big.
"Tell me what you want to say. I'll listen to you as best I can."
Taking a trembling breath, Nadin exhaled slowly. "It took me so much courage to say this to you. Before, I wanted to apologize to you first. I'll make sure to you that I just found out about this, too. If I had known earlier, I probably wouldn't have acted that way on you that night."
Radit was very tired with Nadin's convoluted explanation. He could not hold his irritated breath, which was clearly heard by Nadin. Realizing his impatience, Nadin finally ventured to explain his interview as quickly as he could.
"Actually my father was the mastermind of the gossip that vilified your wife. I'm sorry, it's all my fault!"
Nadin lowered his head, afraid to see Radit's reaction after listening to the confession.
Bravely looking at him, Nadin's lips trembled when he saw his eyes.
"Dit, listen to me! I know you must be mad right now, but...."
"Anger alone can't slow down my feelings right now" Radit coldly replied.
"I beg you, forgive my father. He did it because he wanted to protect me."
"But it's not appropriate for him to use this dirty way to protect you!" snapped, powerless to hold back his emotions. "I'm sorry. Leave me alone, I need to calm my mind."
"Radit, listen to me first!" Nadin grabbed his arm again. His eyes looked so desperate. "Please don't scold my father. If you want to get angry and vent your emotions, just point them at me. It's all my fault."
"I'm not that low, Nad. Even though your father's behavior infuriated me, I won't come to him while cursing." Slowly released Nadin's tight grip from his arm. "I need to talk to your father alone. She had to explain to me why she was so willing to do this to my wife."
Not willing to give up, Nadin tried to block his way. He stretched out his hands so that Radit could not walk past him.
"I told you, he's doing this to protect me!"
"In spite of that, I need to listen to this directly from him!"
Radit pushed Nadin's plan in his way.
"You don't have to see him! My father has confessed to everyone. So, you can rest easy, now your wife will no longer get the hatred of the people here."
Radit still did not stop his steps. Until Nadin said something that made him silent for a moment in his place.
"And I'm telling you one more thing, not my father spreading rumors about your wife's affair with Gilang. Keep that in mind before you see my father!"
That information helped Radit a little about what he should do now.
**
His encounter some time ago to meet Gilang was not as smooth as he thought. Whatever effort he made never seemed to pay off. Obstacles always stop him from seeing his old friend.
Though Radit was very sure if this time he would find Gilang in his house. He's not at home, anymore. When she stopped by, only her mother was there. His mother told him that Gilang a few hours ago was traveling with his father and until now has not returned home.
After not being able to see Gilang again, Radit finally decided to return to his home. During his journey to find Gilang earlier, he had decided not to meet Nadin's father. Most important now for him, the bad rumors about Widya have disappeared.
After all Nadin's father had already regretted his actions, so, there was no need to bring up the matter anymore. Although surely Widya will say something else, if she knows this fact. Radit believes his wife will meet Nadin's family directly while listening to this news.
If this is the case, it is better to keep it a secret from Widya. But, if he thought carefully, it was impossible to cover this from his wife. However, he would definitely listen to this news from others.
Radit's heart slipped as Widya opened the door in front of him. He was sure he hadn't knocked on the door at all. So how did he know Radit was here? Maybe this wife has a sixth sense.
"Why are you staying there?" widya said, shaking her head in surprise.
"How do you know I'm here, that feeling I didn't knock on the door."
"From inside I heard the sound of your footsteps. Since you haven't shown yourself yet, so I went out to see what's stopping you from getting into the house" Widya replied. "I thought, maybe you thought the door was locked from the inside."
Pushing Widya slowly back into the house, Radit closed the door. "I just found out that you've been hearing my footsteps all along. And as for why I haven't been in yet, it's because I'm thinking a lot."
"What do you think until you're so silent outside? Did something happen on your farm?"
"My farm is fine" replied Radit tired, throwing his body on the couch. "What's not okay is the people around me. Today I got word of some people moving from this village."
"really?" Widya jumped up sitting next to him. "Then you are the same as me. I also just heard about someone's move a while ago."
Radit became alert. "Who is that man, if I may know?"
"You won't believe it. That man is Mila."
"What?" radit exclaimed, unable to cover his surprise. "Geez, what's wrong with these villagers."
"I'm aware of your shock, I also reacted like that earlier when Mila told me," Widya said, leaning casually on her shoulder. "By the way, you haven't told me yet, who else is going to leave this village as well."
Radit's body stiffened instantly. Notifying it means he also has to tell Widya the cause of the sudden departure of Nadin's family and Gilang. Well, even though Radit doesn't know exactly what caused the departure of his old friend.
But Radit could guess. He guessed it must have something to do with him and Widya. Moreover, that could explain this sudden departure other than Gilang trying to escape from the two of them. It was just his guess, there was no certainty before he heard directly from Gilang's mouth.
"Radit, are you listening to me?" Widya looked up at him.
"Huh?" shocked sahut. "Oh, I'm sorry. Many things filled my mind at this moment."
"You'd rather speak your mind to me than hold it for yourself."
"Widya, there's actually something I want to tell you."
"Listening to my name being mentioned by you, I suspect it must be something so serious," Widya guessed, positioning herself to sit up straight. "Tell me, I'll listen to you quietly."
Radit was not sure of that. Even so, he still ventured to tell Widya all the events today.
