The Hate That Ends Marriage

The Hate That Ends Marriage
Great Catastrophe

This morning Widya's mood was really bad. Her sense of regret also increased when she found her husband, Radit, repeatedly convinced her that what they are doing now is the right thing to do.

Of all the ideas, why go to the market with him? Though he knows for himself the cause of all this hatred in him all this time starting from there. Why did her husband do this to her? This is not a way out, but a path to destruction.

"Come on, honey, stop frowning so," persuaded Radit, pulling the edge of his lip to form a smile. "You're prettier to smile like this."

"I don't want to look beautiful today!" cetusus, pull Radit's hand off his face. "This is a really stupid idea, Radit."

"Honey. Call me 'Honey', not 'Radit', my dear," Radit corrected.

"This is also not the time to call each other dear!" widya shouted, glaring furiously. "All you have to think about right now, throw this stupid idea out of your head, and let me return home in peace."

"It is not good to call your own husband 'Stupid', Widya," said Radit, deliberately mentioning his name to show his frustration. "You must throw away your nature that likes to curse it. It's not good to have that kind of nature, whenever you get angry."

"I can't help it," he regretted, aware of its ugly nature of being rude. "This is also your fault, love to provoke my bad behavior."

"Well, you just realize it's bad. So, try your best to hold him back even better."

"This self-control is thinner than a tissue."

"Just calm down, I'll help you control it."

Radit wrapped his arm around Widya's shoulder to pull her closer.

"Now smile. Show everyone here that our household is fine."

Raising her head, Widya furrowed her brows. "Are you sure this is the right move? Why should it be here? Can't we just do it somewhere else?"

"Just with your presence here, everyone will see that you have forgotten the events you once caused here" Radit said. "This is also the only way that you get closer to the people in this village. It's time to end the truce between you and the villagers here."

"alright. I hope your decision is a wise choice. But you should know, if you want an apology from me to the mother of the liar fishmonger, then you will find I will leave you alone in the market."

"Yes, yeah, I know. We're here to show everyone here that what they think of us doesn't affect us at all."

"Don't be too sure first. They may not care at all about us coming. Or worse, they'll ignore me."

"That's not gonna happen."

What Widya said happened. All the traders and buyers in that market ignored him. They just say hello to Radit, without bullying Widya at all. As if Widya was something invisible.

"What do I say" he chirped next to Radit.

"Don't let their behavior towards you affect you" whispered Radit, asking Widya to put a smile on her lips. "Just give them a smile. Show them that you don't care one bit about their unfriendly attitude toward you."

"Why am I smiling at the person who is not returning my smile" he grumbled, rejecting the suggestion. "They're not friendly, then I'll be more unfriendly."

"Widya, just drop your ego once. Acting the same way others treat you, will not produce anything. Except, it'll just make you as bad as they are."

"At least it's better than having to be friendly to everyone sucks in here. That way, they'll all realize that I don't like them."

"Please, Widya, listen to my advice just this once. I'm doing this for your own good, too."

Sighing in resignation, Widya was unable to refuse Radit's desperate request. Despite his heavy heart, he forced his lips to put on a friendly smile on his face.

Then not far from where he stood, his eyes looked at an old man who was selling vegetables. He snorted while curling a mocking smile at Widya.

"Look at that old man! He's taunting me, how dare he!" Show Radit to look at the old man who was selling vegetables. "That's why I told you it's useless...."

"Widya, watch what you say! Calling someone 'Damn' is not good" Radit said. "So your attitude!"

"I'm sorry," he said, looking down. "I didn't intentionally say it. But, the old man was still wrong, he underestimated me."

"Radit, what are you doing here?" deni asked, walking over to him with his wife.

"What else would I do, if not for grocery shopping. This question is ridiculous."

Deni watched Widya for a moment, before pulling Radit away a little from his wife.

"It's time for you to shop here with your wife" whispered Deni, sounding very worried.

"Why not? Am I not allowed to shop anymore, after the trouble I made yesterday?"

Deni did not answer the question directly. He asked his wife to accompany Widya shopping, because there are things that he should talk alone with Radit. According to his request, Deni's wife took Widya shopping with him with a carefree face.

Turning her head to Radit from over her shoulder, Widya threw a questionable look at him. His wife was confused to see Deni's wife drag him away. He just nodded his head, asking in silence for Widya to follow Deni's wife without protest.

Fortunately, his wife understood what he was saying through the eyes. He finally resigned to just dragged Deni's wife to and fro.

"Well, now tell me what I should know?" Radit turned to face his friend. "Looking at your gut, it seems like you've been listening to something bad about me. What else this time?"

"It's not about you, rather it's about your wife" Deni replied, watching her surroundings. "To be honest, I also just found out when shopping earlier. I didn't know things would turn out this drastic."

"Whatchu mean? Explain to me, what do you mean to say that this is about my wife? What exactly did you hear?" I urge Radit to be impatient.

"Calm down first. You should listen to him quietly."

"I'll try. Now tell me what you heard."

The longer he listened to Deni's story, the more Radit felt that everything he heard made no sense. How could overnight all that gossip turn around to corner Widya? Who is the mastermind who has twisted all this senseless gossip.

"I know you're angry right now, but there's nothing you can do, other than leave right now. This rumor is getting worse."

"Do you know who was the mastermind who first spread this baseless gossip?" radit asked furiously, over time his anger grew bubbling. "I can't let, whoever it is, corner my wife like this. That's ridiculous!"

"I also know that, Dit, because I was there too, when the quarrel happened" Deni said. "One thing I can assure you, your workers are unlikely to do this. They can't possibly spread rumors that they're going to corner your wife like this. Doing it is like looking to die."

"I don't doubt my workers, you take it easy" Radit replied. Then his eyes widened looking at his friend. "Jeez, this is bad, Den!"

"What's so bad?" Deni tilted his head, bewildered by his panic.

"It's not time to leave my wife alone." Radit circulates around, looking for Widya's presence among the crowd at the market. "If he listens to this, he'll go berserk, and that's not what I want to happen."

Difficulty finding Widya in the crowded place, Radit walked up and called Widya's name. A bad feeling told him that soon something bad would happen in this market, if he had not found his wife.

Behind him, Deni ran after him, he pulled Radit's shoulder to stop him.

"You don't have to panic. If you forget, my wife is with your wife right now."

"That's what worries me more. Your wife alone will not be able to handle Widya's bad temper, who likes to get out of control when angry. Even I'm overwhelmed by the control of that bad temper, let alone your wife."

"Don't overdo it, Dit. It may not be that bad" said Deni, sounding doubtful with his own words.

That was when the noise behind him, distracting Radit and Deni. Oh no! The commotion had already begun. Radit ran frantically towards the scene of the commotion. I don't know what will wait there.

Radit grew increasingly panicked when he listened to the shrill screams of a woman, whom he knew were coming from Widya. Even more terrifying was the sound of deafening screams from there.

God, help me. Don't let my wife kill anyone there.
