For a while Widya spent her time in her husband's school reunion meeting, answering various questions that her husband's friends threw at her. Even longer here maybe Widya's lips will be torn because trying their best to put a carefree smile on her face.
"Stop this question-and-answer session. Is there nothing else you can talk about, other than bothering my wife with the many questions you ask her," Radit scolded, giving a warning look at everyone at the dinner table.
At least her husband is quite self-aware that his patience has begun to run out against his curious friends.
Under the dining table Widya felt Radit squeezing his hand slowly over her lap. Instantly, Widya's body tensely felt the touch of her husband.
Maybe he intends to calm Widya to ease her feelings of regret to her friends. However, he did not realize that his touch only made Widya want to brush her hand violently.
It was sickening to find her cheating husband still daring to touch her this intimate after she was caught meeting her beloved ex, who was now looking down grimly staring at her drink.
"I'm doing fine. You don't have to reprimand your friend like that" Widya whispered, forcing a sweet smile on her face while squeezing Radit's hand back on her lap.
"Your fake smile can't fool me. I know you're so bothered by all these questions" Radit whispered back, narrowing his eyes in disbelief at Widya.
"Look at this new bride! They do not hesitate at all to show their affection in front of us," exclaimed one of Radit's friends.
Enough is! Time to end this unimportant conversation.
Removing her hand from her husband's grasp, Widya hooks her hand with the spoiled on her husband's arm.
"As you can see. This husband of mine never hesitate to show his affection for me in front of others," agreed Widya, giving a smile as cool as possible to her husband. "Look at his face sculpted like this chunk of stone instantly turned into melted butter when I saw him giving a surprise. Isn't that right, my husband, you're glad I came here, right?"
Pinched hard on her husband's cheek with one hand, Widya waited for the response of what her husband would give her.
"Of course I'm happy." Radit removed Widya's pinch from her cheek. "What else should I react to?"
Widya could see the questioning look from her husband's eyes. He seemed confused by the veiled question Widya had thrown at him.
Ah, so so it is. You still want to be plain pretentious in front of me. All right, if that's what you want, then I'll serve this cipher just as innocently as well.
"Looked maybe. For example, this impromptu visit of mine has disrupted your secret meeting with someone."
While saying that, Widya glanced meaningfully at a woman, who had remained silent in her seat.
Everything at the dining table followed Widya's gaze. At that time also all fell silent in silence realizing the meaning of his words. Some even choked on their drinks. There was no other man sitting next to him.
Deni, her husband's best friend and employee, all his face looks so reddish, as if he is being caught cheating, instead of this shy husband.
Uncomfortable with Widya's sharp gaze on her, her husband's ex-boyfriend forced her striking red lips to smile at him. Which unfortunately did not work. Because the smile she was pointing at him looked so awkward.
Satisfied with humiliating the hypocritical woman, Widya turns her attention back to her husband.
"Yes my. Why is the atmosphere so gloomy?" widya said, pretending not to realize the gloomy situation was caused by her speech just now. "I'm just kidding. I didn't know that my jokes would make the atmosphere so gloomy."
"Look, you say?" radit asked, not believing the slightest lie. "Somehow I didn't feel a joke in your words just now."
"Oh, come! Why are you being so cynical about me?" Widya tugged at the spoiled sleeve of her husband's shirt. "There's no reason you're so cynical about me. Except.. My words just offended someone, which made you so upset with me."
"Why!" exclaimed Radit, throwing a reprimanding look at him. "Enough of your bullshit. We'd better just go home, if you keep chanting like this."
Standing up from his seat, Radit forced him to stand up as well by pulling his wrist.
Removing Radit's grip from his wrist, Widya sat back in her seat quietly. Not affected in the slightest by Radit's rampage at him.
"The party's not over. So, there's no reason for me to leave here right now" Widya said, controlling her tone as calmly as possible. Even though what he wanted now was to shout back at his powerful pretentious husband. "If you want to go home, you can do it alone. I still want to be here."
"If your coming here is just to make a scene, then you should undo your intentions. This is not the place for you to vent your baseless anger" Radit warned. "We can talk about this at home."
Raising her head, Widya clucked at her husband.
"What do we need to talk about, my husband?" ask Widya plain. "There's nothing we need to talk about at home, or anywhere else. Stop acting like a cow that is not fed. You've scared everyone who's here."
Widya rolled her eyes at Radit's horrendous attitude.
"Whatdidyou say? A cow? You.. you...." Radit was at a loss for words listening to the ridicule.
Then the tense atmosphere at the dining table turned into laughter. Everyone mocked Radit with the name Widya had thrown at him.
"This is the consequence if you cannot control your angry nature. Now look at you being the laughingstock of others" Widya said, smiling wryly at her husband.
"And if you forget, thanks to whom I get this roar of laughter" Radit grumbled. "Continue your annoying laugh. I'm going to the WC first."
After delivering that, Radit walked out to look for the WC located outside the restaurant.
Then the conversation at the dinner table continued as usual. From the corner of his eyes Widya caught the figure of Nadin who was saying goodbye to the others to go out as well.
Ahah! Li**hatlah the shameless fox. How dare she secretly go out to follow her husband. Oh, or maybe this is one of their plans. They could have planned this so that they could speak freely without anyone seeing.
Widya will not just stay silent. He will discover the secret meeting of the two con men. Unfortunately, it wasn't easy for him to escape the endless questions from the people around him.
Taking emergency measures, Widya stomped hard on Deni's foot, which was under the table. Deni screamed in pain from the stampede
"It looks like there's something Deni wants to tell you. Didn't we?" Widya's smile is innocent while giving Deni the code to take over the conversation.
Fortunately he immediately understood the code from Widya. She swiftly diverts all attention to him, as Widya sneaks in quietly following Radit and Nadin, who are definitely now letting go of the longing out there.
After asking the location of the WC at the cashier in front, Widya walked so hastily when she wanted to turn to the side of the restaurant. However, his steps came to a halt while listening to the faint chatter at that turn.
Hiding behind the wall, Widya peeked to where the voice came from. Not far from where he was hiding, he saw Nadin standing behind him. In front of her stood her husband, Radit, looking surprised at his ex-girlfriend.
From the expression of her shock, Widya guessed that her husband did not expect Nadin to appear there. Which means, her husband did not plan the meeting.
A sigh of relief slid out from Widya's mouth. At least the guess was wrong, the two of them did not plan this meeting at all.
Awake Widya! Now is not the time for you to feel relieved. This unexpected encounter has not fully proved Radit innocent at all.
Refocusing his attention on the two couples before him, Widya tried to listen to their conversation from where she was hiding.
"What are you doing here?" radit asked, feeling uneasy to be alone with Nadin there.
"I have no other way but to meet you secretly like this. There's something I want to tell you. Actually...."
"I don't care at all what you want to tell me." Radit raised his hand, stopping Nadin from continuing his sentence. "You just being here makes me feel uncomfortable. I don't want anyone to see me alone with you here. Especially to talk to you."
After saying that, Radit walked past Nadin. Then Nadin's hand stretched out to grip Radit's wrist. Trying to stop him from leaving her.
"You should listen to my words until they're done. You need to know the truth" Nadin persuaded, staring hard at Radit.
Goddamnit! How dare jal*ng touch my husband.
"I don't need to know the truth, and I'm not curious at all what you want to say!" firmly Radit, releasing Nadin's grip from his arm.
Goody. Leave that damn jal*ng right now. Or I'll get rid of it for you.
"No! You need to know this," said Nadin insistent, again grabbed Radit's wrist. "I lied about my marriage."
Whats? The marriage? What does that fucking fox mean?
The notice was enough to stop Radit, who had intended to release Nadin's grip on his arm again.
The longer Widya listens to this enigmatic talk, the more infuriated she gets every time. Especially seeing the hand of her husband who was holding back Nadin's hand. It's time for this secret meeting to end.
"Darling, you're there. Why so long?" Widya exclaimed cheerfully towards her husband.
From his place he saw Radit quickly release his hand grip from Nadin. Then move away from him. When he turned his face, Radit looked very panicked and agitated.
You should have panicked. Considering what you've done out here with that fox.
