The Hate That Ends Marriage

The Hate That Ends Marriage
Common Good

Widya's guess is wrong. Both were taken to her grandmother's house. Wh why? Is Radit's father going to report this to his grandmother, only then to talk about the matter somewhere.

Widya doesn't like this. It's enough that her grandmother is getting sick from the problems she's caused while here. What can't this Radit's dad talk about tomorrow. Delivering his thoughts, Widya gets a sharp gaze from Radit's father, which makes him immediately stop his protest action.

Knocking on the door, the three of them waited for his grandmother to open the door. Not long after, his grandmother opened the door with a face still half sleepy.

“What is this crowded?” Her grandmother saw the scene at her doorstep. Finding her granddaughter, Widya, among the crowd, her grandmother is further confused. “Why are you outside, Wid? Shouldn't you be in your room?”

Approaching her grandmother, Widya hooked a hand on her grandmother's arm. “It's complicated, Grandma. I don't know where to say.”

“Sorry to interrupt at midnight like this, this matter is so urgent. So, I can't delay talking about this matter any longer with you" Radit's father said, smilingly apologizing to his grandmother.

“Good. Please come in, Mr. Kades,” said his grandmother let in.

Before entering, Radit's father told the residents to wait outside. Protesting his orders, the noise of the residents made Widya's eardrum want to break. Stretching his voice, Radit's father told everyone to be quiet and insisted that he needed to solve this problem with the Widya family without being disturbed by many people. Radit's father promised to make a decision that would please all parties. After making sure Radit had gone inside, Radit's father asked his grandmother for permission to close the door so that people outside would not eavesdrop on their conversation. Her grandmother nodded her head in a sign of agreeing to the suggestion.

When everyone was sitting on his grandmother's living room couch. The atmosphere immediately turned so tense that it made Widya squirm uneasily in her seat.

Radit's father cleared his throat and immediately conveyed his intention of coming to his grandmother's house in the middle of the night.

“Once again I'm sorry I woke you up this night. But I meant to come here to propose to your granddaughter, Widya, for my son Radit,” said Radit's father.

“What?” widya was surprised.

So shocked, Widya to stand up from her sitting position. Glancing at her grandmother, Widya could see that her grandmother was as surprised as she was. Unlike the case with Radit who remained unmoved in his place, as if he had guessed what his father had just said.

*i*ni ridiculous!

“Widya, sit!” his Grandmother's orders, which Widya immediately obeyed. “If Mr. Kades is pleased, can Mr. Kades tell me why at midnight like this you want to propose to my grandson?”

Radit's father immediately recounted the embarrassing incident in the bookstore he witnessed with the residents outside while looking for his son Radit.

“That's not what Om thought! We didn't do anything indecent in there. Radit just helped me pick up the bugs that came into my shirt. Om and the residents out there misunderstand the events in the book warehouse,” explained Widya at length.

“People out there don't care what's really going on, Widya. They only believe what they see, no matter what you say it's true" Radit's father explained.

“Then everyone out there is stupid! Ridiculous to judge someone just because of their prejudice,” scorned him, unable to hold back.

“Widya! Keep your word in front of Mr. Kades." His grandmother glared at him, looking angry at his brash attitude.

“But, Nek-” protests Widya again.

“Enough! Mr. Kades' words are correct. This can only be solved by marriage.”

“I refuse!” cetus Widya is against. “If the door of the warehouse was not locked from the outside, I would definitely not be confined there with Radit.”

“What do you mean, son? The door is unlocked. When we got there, the wooden crossbar was on the ground near the door,” look at Radit's father in confusion.

Stuck, Widya looked at Radit's father in disbelief. “Not possible!”

“Already, Wid. There is nothing you can do but accept this decision. Fighting it will only make things worse. Later there will be rumors if you are pregnant with Radit's child and so on out there. This incident will only be a disgrace in your life.”

“I'm not pregnant!" Widya reflexes touching her stomach. "I don't care about gossip about me. Because what people are saying out there about this isn't true at all. So, I'm not afraid.”

“Don't be stubborn, Widya. Decision has been made. Whatever you say will not change the situation, this rejection of yours will only embarrass your parents.”

Widya shut her mouth to hold back the protest she wanted to say again. He knew his grandmother's words were right. There's nothing he can do. Now he has lost the debate over this ridiculous marriage.

Radit who had been silent in his seat, in his heart was amazed by Widya's courage to oppose this marriage problem. Can't he see that this decision isn't something the two of them can resist. His bold attitude to express his opinion does need to be thumbs up. However, his brazen attitude only made Radit sigh in agony. Soon this rude woman will be his wife. What a nightmare.

“If I may know, when will this wedding take place, Mr Kades?” ask Grandma.

“Secapnya. The plan I want to carry out this marriage the day after tomorrow, if you don't mind,” advises Radit's father, who made Widya jerk in her seat.

“Good. Tomorrow I will report this news to Widya's parents who are in town. Maybe tomorrow afternoon they will arrive here to discuss the wedding preparations with Mr. Kades.”

Then Radit and his father say goodbye. Outside his home, residents are still waiting patiently to hear the decision taken by Radit's father and grandmother. When announcing the day after her son was getting married to Widya, happy cheers rang out in the crowd. They all congratulate Radit who is getting married.

Not wanting to get congratulations from the residents as well, Widya immediately entered her home. He walked glumly into his room. Right now the thing he needed was to rest, and forget about tonight's events from his mind. Even if he knew, it was impossible to happen.

Rice has become porridge. Her night road event has ruined her future of becoming a career woman. And it seemed, he would forever be trapped in this village. In her mind Widya can imagine the face of her father and mother who beamed when she heard the news of this wedding tomorrow.

Isn't that what they wanted before sending him to this village.

“Grandma hope you understand, Wid. Grandma took this decision for your good,” pat her Grandma on Widya's shoulder.

“This is not for my own good, but for your own good, the adults who feel the decisions you make are always right.”

“Widya!”

“I'm tired, Grandma. I need to rest. Good night,” said Widya entered her room.

“Sleep. Maybe tomorrow you can better accept this reality,” said his grandmother in front of Widya's room door. Then stepped inside his room to sleep as well.

Meanwhile, Radit walks into the house with his father in front of him. Radit knew after they went inside there must be something his father wanted to tell him about tonight's incident. Reversing his body, his father stood waiting in the living room as Radit closed the door.

“Before you sleep, I just want to tell you that from tomorrow until your wedding day, you do not leave the house first.”

“I understand, Sir,” said Radit according to.

“Good if you understand. Now sleep. It's getting late.”

“Good night, Sir. You also sleep.”

Yes, Radit perfectly understood what his father meant just now. It will be cut.
