As a lamp like a rapier approached her, Medusa refocused her mind and dodged the attacks coming from all directions.
Medusa managed to avoid the lights, but not all. Several wounds and holes appeared on his body and the only silver lining was that nothing was fatal.
Medusa had already exceeded her limits and was struggling to catch her breath so when Dennis raised his rapier once more and the number of white magic circles doubled from before covering more of the sky.
Seeing this, Medusa resigned herself to her fate, 'I guess I'll have to endure several years of torture again...'
However, while observing the magic circle with his senses other than sight, he heard an indistinct voice, '.e.sa...M.sa'
'What?' Medusa tried to figure out where the sound was coming from. He was also slightly trembling as his voice was a little familiar. He noticed that time had slowed down and could 'see' everything around him clearly but he ignored these changes while continuing to look for obscure sounds. He then thought of something and focused his mind on his inner world and as he expected, the voice, or rather, the voices grew louder so that he could now hear them properly.
'...Medusas...' Two beautiful voices full of affection and worry called out his name.
Medusa froze in place and tears quietly gushed out from her eyes. He finally remembered whose voice it was. It was a voice he thought would never be heard again no matter how many incarnations he gave birth to. The voices he promised to protect but failed miserably. The voices that forever disappeared because of his own actions. Along with the overwhelming joy of hearing those voices again, the self-loathing and regret that threatened to destroy them.
He didn't want to believe it because he thought that this was the same 'nightmare' he saw when he was beheaded for the first time. But like an addictive poison, he kept looking for it. He's going to die anyway, so he wants to hear more. At least it would cheer him up for the next 100 years, "Sister Stheno... Brother Euryale..."
'...Medusan... There is hope for escape... Persist... Hold on until you see the light...' The voices echoed again which made Medusa confused, 'What is this? It's a dream, isn't it?'
Medusa only wanted to dismiss him as wishful thinking. Who is he kidding? His dear sister had already disappeared and would never appear in front of him again. But then, the next thing that happened gave him a shock in his life. Waves of strength that he was very familiar with filled him and it came from his heart, 'This!? Big sister's power!? Why is!? How!?'
Stuck on how unbelievable things happened, Medusa had frozen in place again and her mind was blank as she did not know how to interpret all of this. But she woke up after hearing the last vestiges of her older sister's voice, 'Please... Hang in... For your happiness...'
"Sister Stheno!!! Brother Euryale!!!" With his shout, time returned to its normal speed and the people around him were stunned by his sudden shout.
"Huh!? Are you asking for help from your monster sister, you monster? Ahaha!" Dennis laughed at his actions.
"You!!!" For the first time, he felt really angry. He could insult her or anything, but Medusa would not let go of anyone insulting her dear sister.
Medusa ignored the magic circle directed at her and wanted to rush towards her hateful enemy but there was a change of situation that prompted her to stop her steps.
From a distance, a finger-wide beam of light came and hit Dennis' forehead. It did not pierce through his head but its power was enough to reverse his entire body and eliminate the magic circle around Medusa.
"That won't work, my dear cousin. And here we think you're just a fool for trying to chase this monster blindly. Who would have thought you were hiding such poison? When did the Harpe Family develop something like that?"
On top of the building where the burly man jumped from a sissy man appeared with the moon on his back. He was wearing a maroon suit but without a tie and the top two buttons were missing revealing his chest. Her dark red hair was slightly longer than Dennis and curly. He also held a deep red whip with a rose motif on its floating end and pointed towards Dennis like he had his own mind.
Dennis slowly stood up and glared at the newcomer, "...Theodore."
"You think we're going to ignore you just because you're trying to act stupid? You're too naive, cousin. You're a complete idiot, on the one hand." Theodore chuckled at his expression.
Dennis gritted his teeth when he found out that the chances of him killing Medusa were much lower now that Theodore was here. He also knew that the other two competitors would come sooner or later reducing his chances even further.
Dennis wanted to rush towards Medusa and kill her instantly before they could get close. But when he took his first step, he heard Theodore laughing out loud and stopped to look at him, "Do you think you almost killed him?"
Dennis furrowed his brows and asked, "What do you mean?"
"You never had a chance... Because he's watching you closely." Theodore pointed to his back and Dennis turned around. His face became sour as he did, "When did you come here?"
Dennis directed the question to the thin-bodied man leaning against the wall while hugging the spear and looking at him, "Even before you step into this place."
His deep voice frightened Dennis, 'What!?'
He was also a descendant of the Perseus Clan. He wore casual clothes unlike the two and his shoulder-length hair was also deep red, a hallmark of the Perseus Clan.
"Don't you say that you're not interested in the position of Clan Chief? What are you doing here!?" Dennis knew that his chances were over with his presence.
"No. But I also told everyone that I wanted to fight that monster with its full power. If you kill him now, you'll take my entertainment." The man said with a flat face.
"See~. You're just an idiot who thinks you already have everything~. You're not even aware of Petter's presence." Theodore sneered at Dennis as he mocked him.
Dennis ignored her and continued to ask her, "What are you planning!?"
"Simple... Catch him, treat him at full and last strength, kill him."
"...This damned battle maniac..." Dennis and Theodore muttered as their goal was to kill him to get the position of Clan Head. Dennis was doubtful whether he should continue rushing towards Medusa as he did not want to face Petter from the Invisibility Family known as the strongest of their current generation. Another reason was that if he and Petter clashed, Theodore would definitely use that loophole to aim for a murder that he absolutely did not want to happen.
Petter also did not want to start the movement. He could defeat even if the two were to fight him at the same time but it would only provide an opportunity for Medusa to escape. He now regretted the fact that he just stood there doing nothing while Theodore was not here. He could have captured Medusa long before he came. But his innate curiosity towards the battle stops him from making a move as Dennis and Medusa fight.
It is now a dead end between the three with all of them watching each other's movements and keeping Medusa in their vision.
The heavy and silent atmosphere shattered when the last qualified competitor arrived ... alone while trying to catch his breath, "Please stop this all at once!"
