Laura is not a thief. However, he had to sneak into the house. Adam would have nagged him. Laura could not lie like when she told this excuse to her papa. "I came home late because at school there were extracurricular activities. It was sudden so, I can't tell Papa."
Adam knows everything. She even saw Laura coming out of the school gate this afternoon, of course in the hope that Laura would get home sooner than her.
"At 10 p.m." Adam's voice broke the silence.
Laura jerks. He dropped the shoes in his hand. Laura was shocked when she saw Adam standing under the darkness without a sound.
"I was ...." Laura stammering. "So I ...."
"Go play with your friends?" Adam tried to guess. He turned on the lights and looked at Laura's appearance.
The uniform is crumpled, like waking up from the bed.
"Where to go?" ask Adam.
Laura didn't count on this. He was too washed away in the exhilarating atmosphere inside that illegal building. Laura believed that just by mentioning one building name, Adam would immediately snap at her.
"Belen misses me." Stupidly that sentence flashed inside his head. His mouth only speaks according to his brain's commands.
Laura slurped. Adam was much more serious than he thought. "I didn't do anything!" grouse Laura. "I'm not making trouble."
Adam surrender. His head was goosebumps, trying to understand. "Come in and rest. I have to finish the matter for the midterm."
Adam went back to the corner. There his desk is. There was no particular reason Adam chose the corner of the room as his workplace, he just liked the garden view behind the house that he could see from the small window there.
Laura's not leaving, she's interested in Adam's work.
"By the way," said Laura as she approached Adam carefully. "Sir Adam prepared the matter for my class as well, right?"
Adam looked at Laura. There was no meaningful expression, Adam already knew what Laura meant to ask so.
"Honestly, I don't like history lessons." Laura is starting to be outspoken. He let out a light breath. "So ...." He hesitated a little, afraid that Adam might even snap at him. "May I accept the leak?"
Adam gave a grin. "You want to cheat?"
Laura's eyes widened. "Huh?" Adam's sentence was short, but it was enough to stab Laura in the heart.
"Today you came home late and I know you lied about your reasons." Adam suddenly talked about it. "Nobody guarantees you'll wake up even though I scolded you tonight. That's why I'm giving up."
Laura blushed her lips. "Why discuss it? Mr Adam wants me to apologize?"
"If yes?" adam was resolute. "Are you going to apologize for your mistake?"
Adam looked at Laura in surprise. "I'm not sure you're Mr. Faishal and Ms. Desi's son" Adam said.
"Why say that?" teasing Laura raised a voice. He turns sensitive if, someone talks about both his parents.
"Papa's grave and mama's still wet, Mr Adam can say that?" Laura grumbling. "Sir Adam is so evil!"
Laura walked away from her place. However, Adam's voice prevented Laura's footsteps from entering the room.
"Don't think of cheating" said Adam softly. "Sir Faishal hates people who cheat in business or in his life, Laura."
Laura took her hand off the doorknob. It seemed like Adam's sentence had just made Laura's mind and heart come together.
Adam took another breath. "Learn, I'll give you the reference material."
Adam continued his work. "I have to be late. You can rest."
Laura looked at Adam again. Look at the wide back of the man closely. He's a parasite, even for a man he just knew.
"Sir Adam turned out to be close to papa and mama?" ask Laura. Somehow, but he was interested in that fact. "Near what?"
"Obviously it's my business" whined Laura. "I am his son."
Adam had to stop his activities. He refocused on Laura who was still standing in front of the doorway of his room.
"Papa and Mama have any merit with Adam?" ask Laura again. "Sir Adam married me too because of that debt of return?"
Laura shook her head. "It's not because it's really comfortable with me, is it?"
Adam mangosteen. "You're annoying, you're stubborn, you're naughty, you're selfish, you're arrogant, you ...."
"Time to insult me?" Laura cut Adam. "I didn't ask Adam to judge me. Who is this Adam?"
"Your husband" replied Adam firmly.
"You don't even want to listen to your husband's words" Adam continued.
"Jawab, my question was!" gerutu Laura collect. "What do you and your mom have?"
Adam smiled at her. "You didn't want to answer my question back at school."
Laura frowned, trying to recall the incident Adam intended.
"Why are you crying?" Adam restored Laura's memory again. "It's about this morning."
"We got off the bus together. If you walk any slower, you won't be late that long." Adam began to suspect. "Is there anything that makes you cry?"
Laura turned her face away. Breathing sounds indicate extreme fatigue.
"Look!" seloroh Adam's. "You're avoiding my question again!"
Adam put the pen in his hand. He approached Laura. "Laura, listen to me."
Just as Adam wanted to speak, the sound of a knock on the door interrupted him.
"Who's coming in these nights?" murmured Adam. "Not many know this address" he added. Adam looked at Laura. "Daffa again?"
Laura shook her head. "Why not open? I'm gonna take a break."
"Sir Adam?" A girl's voice called out from behind the closed door. The voice caught Laura's attention.
Laura did not enter her room after hearing a familiar voice calling out Adam's name several times.
"Did you?" Laura muttered in her place. "That's Belen!"
Laura immediately pulled Adam's body which almost opened the door for her guest.
"Don't open it" whispered Laura quietly.
Adam frowned. "Why? There guests. It looks like a girl. I'd like to take a look. Who knows how important."
Laura shook her head. "That's Belen" he whispered. "I know his voice."
"Sir Adam?" Belen's voice sounded again with the knocking of the door getting stronger.
Adam smiled at Laura. "If you're afraid to hide in your room. This is my home so I decide who can come and who should go."
Laura grumbling. "Sir Adam!"
"Just rest the beautiful Miss Laura. Let me take care of it, "puckle Adam as he pinches Laura's cheek.
