Mr. Chandra walked into Maisa's room after no reply. He saw a picture of the girl with Ken on the table. His face looked happy, his laughter seemed loose. In the corner of his room was a canvas covered with cloth.
Maisa was asleep on the balcony bench. His head rests on the arm of the chair. His forehead wrinkled. Sometimes his body moves uncomfortably.
Mr. Chandra sat down in front of him, watching the girl sleep. His hand moved to the girl's neck.
Make up quickly before you regret.
Those words kept ringing in his head. He pulled his hand back and clenched his fist.
"What am I supposed to do with you?" slowly rumbling.
There was a roar of motor coming into the yard. Kio came home from his outside affairs. His head looked up, meeting Chandra's eyes.
"Huh! Did I see wrong? Why is Papa there?"
Kio went into the house. The tail of his eyes saw Mr. Chandra coming down from the second floor. Behind her was Maisa coming down with a tangled face after waking up mixed with confusion.
All three sat in one busy room with their own minds. Kio's eyes were fixed on the ring on his sister's ring finger. He can only hide in the heart.
Damn you, Ken. I haven't approved of you as if you were giving my sister a ring.
Maisa noticed the direction Kio looked at. He realized the direction of his eyes. The girl immediately hid the ring by tightly grasping her fingers.
"When are you leaving?" mr. Chandra said breaking the silence.
"Tomorrow, Pa. I would take the train occasionally wanting to try something new" Maisa replied.
"Oh." Just got there said Mr. Candra. Maisa waited for what she would say again, but nothing came out of her father's mouth.
He's a little disappointed. What the hell was he expecting? There's no way her father would have said anything else. Just simple words he wanted to hear. Take care of your health or be careful on the road. Those words warmed his heart.
"Did Ken give you the ring?" kio asked after his father returned to his room.
"Yes. What's the matter, brother?" reply Maisa with a red hue on her cheek.
"No. I just didn't think he'd do that. Turns out she's pretty romantic too."
Little laugh time. He wanted to tempt his brother. "Are you jealous of me?"
"Who is jealous? Why am I jealous of you." Kio's voice sounded stammering.
"Oh!" Maisa could only laugh a little at her behavior.
"Are you going to take me tomorrow?" maisa said to divert the conversation.
"Eitherway! I'll work on it."
Maisa was already quite happy to hear those words. Kio was willing to make time for him.
...****...
Ken was confused as he stood up. Around it was covered in thin smoke. There's a burning smell. The people beside him were crying cuddling. I don't cry over what. He raised his hand. Looks red stain mixed fishy rusty iron.
Instantly his fear seeped all over his body. Her chest feels tight. He wants to get out of that place.
Ken woke up from his nightmare. Sweat was pouring down on his temple. His body trembled a little. He felt a bad feeling, something would happen later.
People are too busy. Some merchandise vendors offer his merchandise. A group of people waiting for the train to come. Ken approached his girlfriend who was standing not far from there. He hugged the girl.
Kio looked at him with glaring eyes, not accepting his sister being hugged just like that. Maisa only blushed shyly escaping from the embrace.
"Damn you! Don't hug my sister!" Kio pulled Maisa away from the man.
Ken chuckled at Kio's possessive attitude. It's never been like that before. Ken circulated his gaze looking for someone. "didn't Uncle come?"
"No! He's got business in the office" Kio replied with a lazy ada.
"Do I have to come with you?"
"No! Not necessary! I don't want to trouble you, Brother," Maisa replied gently.
"really? But I don't want to be here alone." Ken put on a sad face.
"Hey! You forgot I was here!" sergeant with a careless tone.
The train to Jogjakarta has arrived. The passengers began to climb into the train. Maisa turned towards the two men and smiled. "I'll go first, brother. Take good care of yourself."
"You too" said Kio
"Be careful on Maisa Street. Take good care of yourself. I'll always miss you." Ken replied.
Maisa felt overwhelmed. He hugged both of them tightly. He stepped into the carriage, turned his head for a moment, waved his hand.
The two men stared at Maisa in disappearing from behind the carriage. The train slowly moved, departing from the station. The two were still staring at the girl's departure until the train disappeared from their sight.
Time cupped his hands to his cheeks. His eyes noticed the scene outside the window that was moving quickly. He remembered something and his hand took his phone and took a selfie.
The girl sent the message to Ken with a smile growing on her lips.
I'll tell you when I get to Jogjakarta. You know, the view around here is pretty beautiful. Let's go both of us sometime.
Maisa receives a reply message seconds later from Ken.
Did ya? I want to follow you there. Once my work is done I'll catch up with you.
Maisa chuckles softly. The man remained stubbornly wanting to catch up with her. Shortly after, a message came in from Kio.
Howwasyourjourney?
Good. Good luck to the destination.
Thank goodness! Be careful on the road, yeah.
Maisa is not always smiling. Not forgetting that she sent a message to her father.
Pa, I'm leaving.
There was no reply from him for long. Maisa didn't really expect to get a reply from her father. He must have been busy with his work.
Ting! A message came in. He only got one word back from his father. Ja.
Along the way Ken looks grim. Kio was just speechless, not wanting to offend his best friend who was upset by his lover.
A message came in to Ken's phone. His lips smiled thinly. Who else if not his girlfriend. A selfie from Maisa. The girl looked beautiful with a smile on her face.
Kio quietly peeked at the contents of the messages of the two of them. "Seriously you want to follow him to Jogja?"
Ken raised his eyebrows. "Why indeed? No, no, yeah?
Kio scratched his non-itchy head. "It's not like that. I feel like it's not like you. Now you're too bucin know!"
Ken leaned his head against the car seat. He laughed a little. "Eitherway! I don't know why I'm like this either. Maisa has changed me. I just wish she was happy with me."
Kio rubbed his arms with both hands. "You gave me goosebumps hearing that." Kio then slowly hit his best friend's arm with a small laugh.
"Well, actually Maisa's happy isn't a problem for me either" Kio said.
Ken held his best friend with one hand. "I'm also glad that you love your sister too."
"Shut up! That sounds embarrassing."
The two chuckled in a taxi that drove down the highway.
