The Horizon Boundaries

The Horizon Boundaries
Ch.62 What I've done

Ken was pensive to hear Maisa's past. How much guilt did the girl bear. He carried that burden for fifteen years. Although it's not all pure fault. Not to mention bearing the hatred of his father and brother. Nothing could be the place to lean on in his family.

Ken stroked the hair of Maisa who was asleep on her shoulders. His eyelids were puffy hearing cruel words from his father. Ken rubbed the remaining clear liquid in the corner of his eye.

"Don't cry, Sa."

Ken kissed the top of the girl's head softly feeling. During the recounting of her past, Maisa endured her pain not to cry in front of her.

"Are you going to hate me, brother?" Her voice is raucous. Maisa looked at him with a frown. His hands move uneasily.

Ken pulled the girl in his arms. Pat the girl's back slowly. "I don't hate you, Sa. You're a strong girl. Thank you for staying this long."

Her tears streamed down her cheeks as soon as she heard Ken's words. His heart warmed a little. Though it was just an ordinary sentence, but somehow it could make the burden a little light. He spilled all his sorrow in the man's arms.

There was a sound coming from the door. Mr. Miki caught Ken kissing Maisa's forehead. He cleared slowly. Ken put his index finger to his lips telling him to be quiet.

Mr. Miki chuckled softly seeing his only brother misbehaving. "You didn't tell me that sister-in-law would stay here. I can tell Helen to come here."

"There's no need to bother brother-in-law. I can take care of it myself."

Ken raised Maisa carefully. He took the girl to the guest room. The girl squirmed a little on the bed. Brow wrinkled. What dreams did the girl face. Ken covered it with a blanket.

Mr. Miki was still sitting across the chest in the living room. He watched Ken come out of the guest room.

"I heard that you interfered in cooperation with the Beurata company," he said, withholding laughter.

"What's wrong. Aery Corp doesn't need to cooperate with a company that can't even be fair with its family."

"But the repercussions could hurt Maisa. As it is now. And this is their family business. You have no right to interfere."

"I knew. But I want to see how sincere Mr. Chandra is to Maisa. But all I heard was cruel speech coming out of his mouth."

Miki raised both hands, not wanting to argue anymore. "okay! But you should think about it too. When you marry her, you need her father's blessing."

Ken's frozen. He forgot to think about it. Looks like the road will still be long to get blessing from Mr. Chandra.

...****...

Mr. Chandra repeatedly sighed. The book in his hand was left open without being read. His mind was still left behind on the incident at the restaurant.

Shown in her eyes Maisa was crying and laughing. His gaze vacuous. The girl nearly killed herself in front of him if Ken hadn't gotten in the way.

He put the book on the table, rubbed his face several times. Both hands held his head.

Do I have to die and accept your apology, Pa?

The word always rings in his ears. This time he had to admit that he had gone too far. He destroyed the boy.

"Arons. Please give me all the data about Maisa. Including his daily life," he told his personal aide by phone.

"Did Papa do something to Maisa? He didn't pick up my phone." Kio stood in front of the middle room door.

Mr. Chandra was silent. Kio sat down in front of his father. He noticed every change in his father's attitude. He doesn't usually hide it.

"No! That's not it," replied Chandra with an ambiguous answer.

Kio climbed into his room letting his own father. Since afternoon Kio tried to contact Maisa but there was no answer. When he contacted Ken, he got a sniffy answer from him and immediately switched off the phone.

Just ask your father directly.

Kio finally contacted Aron asking for an explanation from him. The man explained everything there. He nodded his head in frustration. Why could his father say such a cruel thing to Maisa. He couldn't imagine the girl actually killing herself.

Ken is very angry. He took a long breath. What to do now. He just wants his family back to what it used to be. With his father's temperament now, it would be difficult to make the two make up.

The next day Aron gives all the files about Maisa. Chandra read them one by one. His hand shook as he read a piece of paper containing his medical history. Psychotic depression due to a history of severe psychological trauma in childhood.

Mr. Chandra put the paper on the table. Tender his back to his chair. His right hand covered both eyes. He sighed softly.

All this time the girl looked fine. There are no signs of any disease. What's he been doing all this time?

Somewhere else. Maisa opened her eyes. I feel familiar with this room. He immediately rose from his sleep. His memory returned the day before.

Argha! Maisa covered her reddened face with both hands. I feel ashamed to remember what happened yesterday. He was crying in Ken's arms. I want to throw myself into the pool.

He had to put on an expression like what would happen to Ken. The tiptoed Maisa slowly walked out of the room. The atmosphere of the house was so quiet as no one.

The aroma of cooking smells from the kitchen. Maisa ventured a peek. Ken's making egg rolls. The girl was stunned by the sight before her. Didn't think Ken was good at cooking.

"Just sit down, Sa. Instead of standing there, keep going" Ken chuckled, realizing the girl was stealing a glance at him.

"Can I help you?" ask the girl while smiling awkwardly.

"It's almost finished, really. Just sit down first" Ken replied. He put egg rolls on the plate and cut it small.

Maisa stuffed a spoonful of rice into her mouth. Eyes rounded. "Don't kid!"

Ken tilted his head smiling. "really. Then I'll cook for you often."

Maisa moved both of her tanks. "No need, Brother. It will be troublesome."

"No hassle, Sa. What the hell didn't do you."

Maisa's mouth is open. Ken ate wrong. Suddenly saying something a little exaggerated.

Suddenly Ken's hand extended to his face. Maisa swallowed his saliva. The man took a grain of rice at the corner of his lips.

Maisa's face was red. Ken smiled to see it. In his heart he was grateful, the girl was not sad anymore.

"Sa, how are we gonna ditch. Come walk. I want to take you somewhere. It's okay, right?"

"Where?"

"It's secret. You'll know."

Maisa nodded in agreement. He realized Ken was trying to comfort him. His heart was happy, Ken did not stay away from him. If one day he has to split up, it looks like he will not be okay. Ken's existence has penetrated deep into the depths of his heart.
