The Horizon Boundaries

The Horizon Boundaries
Ch.50 Bitter Reality

Maisa felt that her muscles did not give her the strength to support her legs. His body was dazed, sitting on the sofa. Both hands were trembling. Maisa's hope was immediately lost upon hearing from Ken. Jain and Kiki are on the list of the dead.

"No... This is impossible."

The girl's cry broke out instantly. Jain is a very meaningful person to him. Always keep and entertain him. She was like a sister to him. Ken hugged her, patting her back softly.

Maisa recalled what Jain, Evan, and Kiki had said before returning to Yogyakarta some time ago.

“Crank matches are very fun. You know, it was the most fun thing I've ever experienced while with you,” Jain said.

“Means?”

“You mean you played really well,” Evan added.

“Really? Why didn't I realize it, huh?”

“How can you realize it! You're always short-minded.” Kiki laughed broadly.

“You're evil!”

“Sometimes let's compete. Promise me you'll play with us. Okay!” jain said punching Maisa's arm. A big smile decorated his face.

Maisa returned her smile. “OK!”

“Well, after this we must be difficult to meet," said Kiki slowly.

“Do not do that. I want to cry!”

“Do not fuss! You're a strong girl, "Jain rubbed Maisa's hair gently.

Maisa sobs in Ken's arms. His hand squeezed firmly into the man's shirt. Her tears flowed down her cheeks. Maisa hit the chest of Ken's field with both of her hands.

“Bad Jain brother! leave me alone. You promised me you'd play basketball again.”

Kio also hugged the girl, letting the girl vent her feelings. At least that was what he could do right now for his sister. He knows very well the pain of losing a loved one. For the second time Maisa lost the figure he loved.

...*****...

Maisa sprinkled flowers on the graves of her two best friends. The girl's face looks puffy, her eye bags look dark. As powerful as he tried to hold back the tears that were ready to plunge out.

Ken sat down beside her, patting her gently on the back. Kio also came to accompany him. Not far from him there was Evan who looked beaten.

Jain and Kiki are buried in his hometown, Yogjakarta. A cold wind pierced the skin. The sky turned cloudy, as if grieving. Almost three hours Maisa sat there. Evan approached and squatted down beside him.

"Sa, let's go back," he gently persuaded.

Maisa shook her head. His gaze was still fixed on the two tombs of his best friend. Evan grabbed her hand, grasping it gently.

"Sa, look at me. I was also devastated by their departure. The test I was given wasn't enough just to lose Lucy. I know you do too. So let's get together to deal with all this."

Maisa nodded slowly, forcing herself to smile. Ken pulled him out of the funeral. He paused for a moment, looking back.

Jain's sister, Kiki. I will never forget you guys.

For three days, Maisa locked herself in her room. The phone call from Mia was not answered. Amber's grandmother was busy persuading her to eat and also comforting her. But the girl remained unmoved, languishing in her own world.

Kio was uncomfortable with this kind of atmosphere. He felt something was missing. The day he fought with Maisa was no more.

Kio barged into Maisa's room. He saw the girl sitting facing the window with her chin-backed hands. His gaze was blank, unaware of Kio's arrival.

“Until when do you keep this up, Maisa!” kio said in a high tone.

Maisa's not budging. Kio ruffled his waist a little annoyed at her making.

Maisa was shocked and looked over. He looked at Kio for a moment and looked back at the window. Cold attitude.

Kio pulled Maisa and pressed her against the window.

“You what, Brother? Let go of me!” masa was angry.

"Don't make me angry, you idiot! How long are you gonna be like this? What do you think the world is narrow? Think again. There are still people who love you. Grandpa, Grandma, Evan or whatever it is. There's also Ken and I.”

Hearing that, Maisa looked at Kio with teary eyes. “Sister Jain was my friend since I was a child, I have considered him like my own brother. Kiki, she's a best friend who understands me like Lucy. I don't want to lose anyone anymore. Feels painful. Given it, I can barely breathe it feels.”

Kio took a deep breath. Pull the girl in his arms. Don't know what else to say. "I knew. I'm sorry I'm mad at you."

Ken who had been standing at the door smiled, leaving behind the two. Sitting on the front porch, enjoying the breeze that blows away the dry leaves.

Thank goodness, Sa. May you and Kio be close. I just wish you could be happy.

Upon his return from Yogyakarta, Kio was more divided by himself. It's almost unbelievable to comfort Maisa. But it's not that close.

When he saw the girl crying, his heart ached. An uncomfortable feeling of clenching his chest cavity. He didn't want to see her cry. Kio ruffled his hair, not understanding his own feelings.

Erik patted Kio's shoulder making him a little surprised. He knew his friends were watching him.

“It seems like lately your behavior has been strange. Not on campus, at the shooting location, at the hangout as well. Got what problem?”

“Nothing. For what to discuss the problem, again hanging out too,” said kio sekhenya.

Erik and Albert exchanged glances. Both of them frowned. Kio looked at them question markingly. He looked around him. A lot of people are getting ready for the shoot. Kio realized that he had answered wrongly.

“I mean, we're at the shooting spot now,” exclaimed Kio flutter.

Albert nodded his head. “You'd better rest a few days there. I don't want the shootings to be fucked.”

...****...

Kio looked back in his room. The book that had just been read was left lying on the table. Chandra sir went into his room. He was quite surprised, his father rarely went in to do that.

“What's up, Pa?”

“No. It's just that I think you have a problem. Papa notice from yesterday your attitude is a little strange. Have you been affected by Maisa's strange demeanor?”

“Any? What is strange? Better Papa worry about Maisa alone.”

“Maisa? Why with him?”

“Why don't Papa see for yourself?" Kio threw his body onto the bed. Lately he felt strange unlike his usual self.

Following the advice of his only son, Chandra enters Maisa's room. The girl was not in her room. He stood on the balcony, staring at the dark sky befriending the twinkling stars. His short hair was moved by the night wind. Chandra sir approached him.

“What are you doing here? Looking at the sky?”

Maisa looked up to hear her father's voice. His face was stronger than the one before. “Iya. The sky looks good tonight. Many stars are emerging. The wind is also cold.”

Mr. Chandra watched Maisa for a moment. I found no strangeness there. The girl looked as usual, although at first she was crying hysterically.

Looks like he's okay.

“Oh, yes! What's up, Pa? Did I make a mistake again?”

“No!”

Mr. Chandra is leaving. Maisa looked at him in wonder. But he did not bother, because that was his father's attitude. He felt tired. It is better to continue enjoying the night sky.
