The Horizon Boundaries
Ch.60 Past Maisa Part 1

The kindergarten is not far from the road so crowded. A cheerful face adorns every student. Some play with friends, some are spoiled in the arms of his mother. Laughter adorns every corner of the school.

The hot sun did not melt their joy. Today is the day that Kindergarten students receive a book of assessment from their teacher. Many are impatiently waiting for the report to be distributed. One by one the names of the students were called.

“Maisa,” call Mother Teacher.

A cute five-year-old little girl walked in impatient steps toward the teacher. The teacher handed the report book to him with a smile. His face was happy.

"Mama look!"

The little girl ran to her mother and handed her report. His mother read it while smiling. The little girl looked at her mother expectantly. His mother kissed Maisa's cheek lovingly. His hand rubbed his head gently

“What a good Maisa! Mama is proud of you.”

Maisa's cheeks blushed red upon hearing the compliment. The little girl hugged her mother tightly. After the event was over, her mother held Maisa's hand. In the left hand of the little girl was carrying a green balloon. He jumped small, his lips humming cheerfully.

The road happened to be empty, only one or two vehicles passed by. I heard a phone ringing from inside the bag. Her mother took off her hand and reached into the bag to pick up her phone. The husband's name is on the phone screen.

“For a while, Maisa. Don't go anywhere! Your dad called,” he said as he picked up the phone.

"Yes, Ma. Maisa's gonna be a good boy." The girl smiled sweetly at her mother.

His mother was talking on the phone and it seemed like it would take a while. He smiled at the person across the phone. Maisa stood next to her mother while playing the balloon she was carrying.

Suddenly the balloon he was holding slipped off and flew into the highway. Unbeknownst to her mother, Maisa runs a little after the balloon. His hand tried to reach the rope that was waving in the wind.

Arini, we haven't eaten out in a long time. I've been booking places. We celebrate Maisa's birthday.

"Ah. yea. Make sure to make a big surprise for Maisa. He's so happy today got good grades."

Arini hung up. He looked towards Maisa. His face paled when he saw that his little girl was not next to him. Panic roared to see Maisa chasing a balloon on the road. He quickly ran to her.

From the other direction, a car was traveling at high speed. He pushed Maisa to the side of the road until she fell. The car quickly snatched. Arini's body bounced several meters not far from him, lying helpless. The phone he was holding was tethered, falling and crumbling. Blood pooled, his body still motionless.

An excruciating pain rippled all over his body. His eyes were staring at his little girl. There was a thankfulness in seeing her okay. His head felt heavy, moving his hands a little could not. It seemed like it was his destiny, he closed his eyes. Several passersby and passersby flocked to him.

Maisa limped over to her mother. His weak voice tried to call out to his mother, silent no answer. In the midst of despair, she grabbed her mother's hand hoping that her mother would open her eyes immediately. But nothing happened.

"Ma! Mama! Up, Ma!"

Tears began to pool in her eyes. Her cry broke, her little hands hugging her mother. No matter the clothes that were covered with blood and also the people around who tried to calm him.

Someone is booking a restaurant for dinner, Mr. Chandra put down his phone. His lips are smiling. Aron put some documents on the table.

Mr. Chandra chuckled softly. His eyes looked at the family photo. A boy and a girl were sitting in front of him and his wife.

"Isn't she a sweet girl."

Family photos fell to the floor. The figura's glass was smashed into pieces. Mr. Chandra stopped his typing activity. He took that photo. Something's not right. He felt a bad feeling.

The phone next to him rang. An unknown number is listed there. Brow wrinkled. His body froze when he heard someone's explanation from across the phone.

...****...

The accident happened on Jendral Sudirman Street. A drunk driver was driving a car at high speed and was about to hit a small child running on the road. The mother died trying to save the child.

The conditions are so awful. His head cracked with blood and some of his bones were crushed. The little boy only had minor injuries. The driver was also less fortunate. The man was killed on the spot with a crumpled condition in his head hitting the front dashboard. His car was destroyed after hitting a roadblock and rolled a few meters.

Shortly afterwards, police and ambulances came to the scene. His mother's body was transferred for autopsy to the hospital. Along the way to the hospital, her little hands clasped her mother's cold fingers.

He did not want to lose his mother. Her tears did not stop flowing. In his little heart, he still wished for his mother to open up and smile at him immediately. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, a young man and a boy were eight years old, three years older than the girl. Maisa greeted him with limping feet. The man looked at the girl with a cold face.

“Papa! Brother Kio!” call the girl crying as she looks at her father.

The little girl was still wearing a shirt that was covered in blood, her knees and elbows were covered in gauze. The injuries suffered were not so severe

Mr. Chandra threw his face away, unwilling to look at him. There was hatred on his face. Hatred of the child who has taken away what he has loved. The boy who was with him did so, not caring about his whereabouts.

The man immediately went to the mortuary followed by his son in a hurry. His face was extremely sad, the wrinkles on his age-eaten face were increasingly visible. Despite trying to be tough, her tears still dripped down her cheeks.

The cover of his wife's body was revealed. He saw the heartbreaking condition of his wife. With trembling hands, he touched his wife's face. Chilly. Only a coldness felt at the tip of his finger. Mr. Chandra squealed before his wife and cried slowly. Grasping her hand tightly. Unexpectedly, their loved ones left so quickly.

“I'm sorry Arini. I can't protect you. I love you so much.”

Kio, the boy who was accompanying her also cried beside her. His mother who always loved him now could no longer be with them. The face of his mother who always smiled brightly as bright as the sun. His warm attitude. Maisa peeked behind the door not daring to approach her father and brother.

Listening to his heart's conversation was heartbreaking, but he was unable to do anything to ease the suffering. The little girl ran out crying almost bumping into the passer-by and ended up falling down in the deserted corridor.

The little girl continued to blame herself. He deeply regrets what happened. His little heart screamed to see the loved one leave. He began to hate and blame himself.

The originally clear sky turned cloudy as if it was grieving. A drizzle drenched the deserted cemetery. Maisa still faithfully sits in front of her mother's grave. Her eyes were puffed up too much to throw away tears of sadness. His little hands hugged his feet. Rain drops were ignored. Wishing the rain would take away all the sadness of his heart.

“Mama. Maisa has made papa and sister sad. Papa, Brother Kio won't look at me at all. Maisa deserves to be hated,” her voice sounds softly swept by the sound of rain.
