The Horizon Boundaries

The Horizon Boundaries
Ch.12 Bad Memories Part 1

Lucy is a beautiful girl of sexy stature, the manager of the Madya High School basketball team. Many admired him. However, he hated the look of nyalang when he looked at his body despite wearing polite clothes.

Lucy stopped by Beemart to buy some snack packs. He walked on foot while humming. His right hand carried a bag of plastic snacks. At the end of the street, four men with thugs while smoking a cigarette. They see Lucy coming from a distance, grinning in excitement at getting new prey.

The girl felt an uneasy feeling instantly twisting her body, turning around. Someone grabbed her shoulder, it turned out to be one of the four men. His eyes were relentlessly pointing at Lucy's chest.

"Kok didn't go through, Neng?" The man's voice was very close to his ear.

Lucy creeps in fear. His heart is beating fast. Behind him were three men following. Lucy tried to let go of the man's hand.

"Sorry, Bang. It was just the wrong way."

Lucy sped up her pace. Again, someone embraced his shoulder, this time surrounded the four men. His body felt shivering, fear enveloping his entire skin. He hugged his own two hands, trying to break through but was blocked.

"Not to hurry, Neng."

"Lucy what's going on in there?" The voice of a person jolts his sense of hearing.

Maisa boasted a lollipop out of the painting supply store. Tilting the head to the left and right sides to relax his neck. His muscles are a little stiff after the silat exculus. Like Grandpa's mandate, women should be able to take care of themselves. He chuckles at the thought of the abyss unfinished for hours.

The air feels cold. Maisa chose to take a leisurely walk. In his right hand he carries a painting tool. He was still wearing white-gray clothes, with his hair always cut short. His steps halted for a moment, his attention distracted on the narrow road across the road not far from Beemart. His eyes squinted, recognizing a person who seemed to be having a hard time.

Maisa rushed across the large road, speeding up her pace towards the horde of men surrounding one woman. The girl hugged her hand in fear. His face was pale white as paper.

"Lucy, what's going on" he said in a loud voice to attract the attention of passers-by.

Lucy looked up at him. A little relief on his face. The hoodlums whistled to get fresh fish that had just come. One of them tried to reach his chin. Maisa quickly caught the wrist, turned her body, one of her legs kicked the man's leg and slammed him.

The sound of falling objects accompanied by the loud cry of the man, his back hit the rocky road. The others stared, surprised by the incident just now. Didn't expect his game fish to fight them.

Maisa grabs Lucy's hand, leading her to run away to the highway. From behind came angry screams from the rogues. Maisa still did not stop, continued to run away without looking back.

"Wait, Sa. I can't run anymore." Lucy's voice choked like something was stuck in her throat.

Maisa stopped her steps. His breathing is a little dull. He looked back. No one is chasing them. He breathed a sigh of relief.

"You're okay, right?" Maisa circles Lucy, checking in case there are any cuts or scratches.

Lucy nodded, still trying to catch her breath. Some people who passed by were astonished. Maisa talks to someone over the phone.

"So Evan's brother will come to see you home."

The two sat on a roadside bench, silent. Lucy was still trembling in fear. Maisa rubbed her shoulders. He unceasingly spoke soft words, trying to calm down.

Evan came with his bike. His face looks worried. She hugged Lucy. His hands gently caressed his back. The girl shed tears.

"Sister, please take care of your boyfriend, sir. Don't let her go alone."

Evan nodded slowly. "Thank you, Sa."

He brought his girlfriend home. Lucy hugged her waist tightly. Tender his head to the man's back. Lucy's feeling became calm nearby.

The sound of shoes. Audience cheers. The excitement of the inter-School sports tournament in Yogyakarta. The Madya High School Basketball Team participated. Lucy is full of her pre-match preparation.

The deffense! The deffense!

Offense! Offense!

Evan intercepts to grab the ball, and passes towards Jain. Jain got the ball well. He shot three points and successfully, the ball went into the basketball hoop. The sound of the sign whistle ended the second quarter and there was a fifteen-minute break.

"Sister I'm out first, yeah. We're running out of mineral water and a sports drink."

"Wait first. Let me take you."

Evan immediately downed his drink to the toilet. His right hand held Lucy's wrist. The girl let go of Evan's hand. He felt bad to trouble his lover who still had two more quarterly matches.

"It's okay, really. Evan's brother is here. We'll be in the third quarter soon."

"Then it will be later. Wait for Maisa to come in a minute."

Evan felt heavy taking Lucy off. It's not feeling good since. He doesn't want to let Lucy out on her own. Jain pats Evan on the shoulder, trying to calm the gloom of his best friend.

The sound of the whistle began the third quarter match began. Evan kissed Lucy's lips quickly, he immediately ran to the middle of the field. Jain could only shake his head, holding back a small laugh.

Lucy's face flushed. Some of the spectators sitting on the bleachers were whistling. He rushed out shopping after getting permission from the coach.

Maisa runs to the gymnasium where the basketball game is. He could not accompany Lucy. The club asked him to come down to the game. There's nothing to worry about. There's Evan and Jain there. But what is this bad feeling?

Maisa was able to finish the match as runner up. The opponent he faced was quite heavy. He arrived at the stadium on time, the fourth quarter has not started yet. Temporary score of 68-62. SMA Madya is 6 points ahead.

Maisa stood at the bottom of the audience. He calls Jain and Evan, asking for Lucy. Evan looks uneasy trying to contact Lucy but is not connected. He walked back and forth, his hands unceasingly pressing Lucy's phone number.

"Lucy hasn't come back since the start of the third quarter" Jain said.

"Let me look for. You guys focus on the game."

Maisa calls friends at the silat club to help her find Lucy. The girl ran around the sports hall, the result was nil. He searched out the building, down some of the surrounding shops. Trying to ask if he's ever seen that girl in his cell phone photo. Almost everyone shook their heads.

Maisa stopped her steps for a moment, checking her phone. No info from his friends. He took a deep breath, calming his mind. Lucy couldn't have gone too far to buy a drink.

Maisa continues her search. The sound of ambulance sirens coming from behind and passing through it adds to the unpleasant feeling. His gaze was fixed on the five-story old building behind the shophouse. The building has long been uninhabited.

Whether there was any feeling, Maisa stepped her feet towards the building. Like something pushed him there. He passed through some narrow and silent alleyways. There's no way Lucy's here. But his feet kept moving.

Maisa reached the end of the alley. An old building eaten up by age. A lot of cracks in the walls, the paint peeling here and there. Many windows were broken and iron poles were rusted. He stepped foot into the building. His eyes were stunned to see someone lying not far from there.

His heart seemed to stop for a moment. That's Lucy. Maisa ran over. The girl was unconscious. Blood was seeping around his body. With trembling hands she touched Lucy's cheek, still warm.

Maisa looked around. His eyes are looking for something. There's no one there. He called someone. Her tears started to flow down her cheeks. The sound of sobs filled the silent space.

"Help me."
