The Horizon Boundaries
Ch.31 Freelance Interview

"Thank you, Ma'am."

Maisa came out of the painting shop. On his shoulder was draped totebag, the tip of a painting brush and canvas cloth poking out from within. The paint supplies are exhausted. There are some brushes that are starting to break the ends. Want to not make it out of the island kapuk.

The girl went down the sidewalk, strolling and enjoying the crowds along the way. Occasionally his hand justifies the hat stuck in his head. His steps were stopped at bookstores and magazines. He decided to look around for a moment. His eyes were on a magazine.

He picked up an open idol magazine. Inside it contains fashion and several camera brands that are launching this month with advertising models of her own lover, Ken.

“Lumayan also. At least know the development now," Guman Maisa slowly.

He bought a magazine that caught his attention. While walking home, Maisa flipped through her pages. Ken's face looks handsome and is listening.

“Ganteng is handsome but why is his smile so forced. Couldn't be more relaxed. But handsome too. Whose girlfriend dong.”

Maisa commented while smiling to herself. There was a pair of legs before him, he shifted to the left side giving the person some space. The pair of legs shifted right at his limit. Again he shifted his body to the right. The pair of legs followed him.

He closed the magazine page in annoyance. Ken was standing in front of him. Maisa's mouth was open in disbelief. He looked at the magazine for a while and then looked at Ken. Behind him was Kio with his lazy face, and beside him was Mia. The girl thumbs up at him. His eyes glanced at him.

The magazine he was holding fell. He's smothering his mouth. Turn around to Ken.

Oh, naw! I'm not dreaming, am I? Why is Ken here?

He patted his own cheek, pinched his hand. It doesn't seem like a dream. Now his surprise changed with panic.

Lothawat! Did he hear everything. I have to run away.

The girl turned her body, displaying her best smile. He wanted to run right then and there, hiding from them.

"I go first, yeah. There's business."

Ken picked up the magazine that had fallen and looked at its contents. Maisa intends to escape, but Ken's hand grabs her faster. His body turned to hit Ken. Both of his hands touched Ken's chest.

The girl rebelled trying to break away. Ken didn't let it. His hands clasped the girl's waist, tightening his arms.

"Where are you going, Sa? I said I'm the good-looking one, your boyfriend. Why go away."

Maisa pushed him away. Her little lips were back. Is this Ken senarsis?

"Narshish, Brother. I didn't say that."

"Can you stop? I'm glad I heard it." Kio rubbed his arm. He looked away when he saw Mia.

"Then Brother Kio quickly find a girlfriend there," Sindir Maisa cheerful but sounded like a direct ridicule pierced his heart.

"What are you saying,"

Kio prepared to pin his sister's head. His steps came to a halt, his eyes glaring towards Mia who was twitching on his arm. Mia shook her head.

Maisa hides behind Ken, sticking out his tongue. Kio was gritting softly. His eyes glared at him.

Just be careful when you get home.

Ken restrained his smile at the childish behavior. He pinched the girl's nose. Maisa covered her flushed nose.

"How about we split up here. You go with Mia and I go with Maisa."

Ken moved his head, gesturing at the girl beside Kio. He promised her to fight.

"What?"

"Can. Have fun, Brother." Mia cut Kio's words. He pulled the man's hand away. Maisa waved her hand, her lips moving giving words of encouragement.

Kio let go of Mia's hand grips a little rough. His jaw stiffened, the corner of his eye wrinkled.

"Why do we have to go both ways? You think I'm your girlfriend." Kio growled softly.

Mia's forehead wrinkled, like an ice needle pierced her heart. He tightened the grip of his sling bag strap.

"Other times. Along with the others. I don't want to walk with you."

Kio hurried to leave the girl who was still dumbstruck. Mia bit her lip. The man's words were very telling. He accompanied Kio's steps from behind.

Kio stopped his steps. "Don't follow me. Do I have to take you home too."

"But it's a little quiet here. I'm scared, Brother. Please accompany us to a crowded street."

Kio watched the road around him. Silence indeed. "Dad! Never mind. As you please."

...****...

"Is Mia okay with Kak Kio's street, huh? He looks like a jutek today."

Maisa churned her mixed ice bowl. The two sat under the umbrella of an ice merchant by the side of the road. His voice sounded worried. Ken touched Maisa's shoulder, patting her softly.

"Don't worry, Kio isn't that bad."

Ken stole the chance to kiss Maisa's cheek. Maisa glared at him. Some of the people sitting not far from them were whispering. He got angry, hit Ken's arm. Ken just laughed.

A man sat in front of them. On his neck hung a camera. The two exchanged looks. Maisa felt a bad feeling. He immediately put on his hat.

"Ken, huh? It just so happens that we meet here. I'm a freelance reporter for Rufela Magazine. Can I have a little interview?"

The man handed him his business card. Ken took the business card he gave. Maisa brought her head closer, peeking at the contents.

Andrian R - Reporter of Rufela Magazine

Ken nodded slowly. "Please."

The man points the camera in front of Ken and Maisa. Maisa's hand picked up the menu book to cover her face. Ken closed the camera lens.

"You can take pictures of it only when I'm working."

The man dropped his camera. "alright. Then just go straight. How is your relationship with model and actress Alice?"

Why is Alice's name. Ken took a long breath. It seems he was involved in the girl's game. His eyes glanced towards Maisa who was busy eating the ice of his fruit.

"I have nothing to do with him. We're just business partners."

"I heard Alice has been friends with you since childhood. Isn't it impossible if you like each other and make a serious relationship."

Whahuh? A fella? Ken didn't tell me about it.

Maisa turned to Ken. He can only hide. There was a bit of shock on his face.

Ken scowled his head, not making any comment about it. He pulled Maisa into his arms and said, “This is my lover. So can you tell Alice, don't disturb our relationship.”

Ken immediately took Maisa who was dumbfounded away from there. Maisa who seemed hypnotized just according to him. He took Maisa some distance away from the crowd. Maisa regained her senses as Ken patted her on the shoulder and brought her face closer. Maisa's face instantly turned red. He pushed Ken away.

Ken smiled with mystery. “Absp by me eh?"

"It's not. But what did that mean?"

Ken rubbed the girl's hair. "Later I'll tell you. Get ready to be a celebrity that journalists hunt. But don't worry, I'll protect you.”

“What do you mean?” Maisa sighed softly, her face grim. He had just remembered Ken's words in front of reporters.

"It looks like we're stuck in Alice's game. Sorry, Sa. Maybe I'll hurt you. But I'll try to protect you. Okay." Okay." Ken's voice reflected the light.

Ken held both hands. Maisa could not say anything. He was out of words to argue with Ken. I can only nod my head slowly. He felt a sense of unease enveloping his skin. There will probably be a big troublesome storm later.

Not far from them, the man photographed them secretly. Her lips were smiling with satisfaction.
