The Horizon Boundaries
Ch.55 Heir

Maisa sat on the balcony of her room, watching the vehicle passing in front of the house. Lately his sleep is no longer good. Nightmares always haunt him. Previously the dream only appeared occasionally.

A silver car came into the yard. Chandra sir got out of the car. He lifted his head up. The two sat for a moment. The girl smiled, waving her hands towards her father. Mr. Chandra immediately walked in.

Maisa just chuckles softly. He went straight downstairs. Kio was already relaxing in the living room. Mr. Chandra seems to want to say something.

“Besok is a company anniversary. I want you guys to be there.”

Maisa's eyes widened. It seems he didn't hear wrong. Inwardly happy, his mind danced. Little by little, her father began to open up to her.

“Good, Pa,” Reply Kio.

Maisa's smile widened to make Kio pull the corner of her lips upwards.

“What guests are you?”

“Not kesambet anything. Just the feeling I suddenly grew flowers.” Maisa replied while grinning.

Kio glared, twitching his shoulders. He went straight upstairs leaving the girl alone.

The company's birthday is held in a five-star hotel. Many corporate guests attended. The atmosphere was so crowded, almost the guests who came huddled to talk about something.

Maisa looked at the crowd of people before her nervously. Kio has disappeared somewhere. The last time he saw the man was talking to someone. His father also spoke directly with some of his clients. Everyone looks busy. The girl sighed. He did not know any of the guests there. It was only natural for him who for fifteen years almost never attended events in his father's company.

Someone patted his back. His eyes shone once he recognized who that person was. He almost hugged her.

“Kak Ken came too?”

Ken smiled at him. “Yes. Your father's company is working with my father's company. But why alone, Sa? Where's Kio?”

Maisa shrugged her shoulders. His net moved towards the crowd in front of him. Ken knows what's going on.

"Based on the boy leaving the beautiful girl alone. What if he's bullied by a jerk," he grumbled softly.

"Am I pretty?"

Ken Bedeham, rolled his eyeballs the other way. Her cheeks are slightly red. Maisa laughed a little. Rarely see Ken shy.

"Oh you're in Sinj? Papa's been looking for you" said Ms. Artika.

Ken nodded. He approached Brian who was not far from him. He whispered to the girl that he would be back soon.

Bu Artika's eyes were fixed on the girl who was standing next to him. A smile bloomed on her beautiful face. "Oh hello, Sa. How are you?"

"Good, Auntie," Maisa replied.

"No.. No... No... Don't call me aunt. You can call me mother or mother, just like Ken used to call me." Miss Artika blinked one eye.

Maisa nodded slowly, laughing awkwardly. I am not used to calling others mothers.

The sound of a knock from the microphone. A host stood in front of the stage. The show started smoothly. Maisa sat at the middle table, accompanied by Ms. Artika. Soon after, Ken and Brian joined in.

"Sorry to keep you waiting" Ken whispered into the girl's ear.

"It's okay! I was chatting with my aunt" Maisa replied in a whisper.

Mr. Chandra advanced to the front of the podium giving a small welcome. "Thank you to all the guests who attended. Tonight I will announce who will be my successor in the company."

The floodlight was pointing at Kio. All guests applauded. Kio stepped forward to the podium with firm steps, standing beside his father.

"This is my only son, Kio Bramespati. He will join the company."

Kio smiled, slightly bowing introducing himself. Maisa also applauded her sister. After the announcement of the successor of the company, immediately move on to the next event. There was no introducing Maisa in public.

Ken clasped his hands tightly under the table. His eyes are sad. Maisa whispered words into her ear not to worry about her. He was never interested in his father's company.

Even so, the man remained worried. Maisa is also a member of Mr. Chandra's family. How could his own father ignore the girl.

Mr. Brian, who had been silently tapping his finger at the table, pulled the chair back and stood up.

"Let's say hello to Chandra, sir" Brian said in a piercingly cold tone.

Maisa shakes hearing it. Before that, Brian seemed friendly talking to him. Ms. Artika behaves not much differently. But there was clearly a fire of anger in his eyes. It makes the girl not understand. What makes them both so angry?

Ken shook his head. Actually he did not want to interfere in the affairs of the parents. But it has to do with Maisa. He cannot stay silent. He pulled the girl's hand. Maisa tilted her head, looking questioningly. Ken's lips moved saying something.

"Follow their game."

What games?

"Congratulations on hard work until the company is as big as it is today. Hopefully our next cooperation to be even better" said Mr. Brian shook Chandra's hand.

"Thank you very much Brian. Thanks to your support, our company could be this big." Mr. Chandra's focus is sidetracked by Maisa who is standing next to Ken and his parents. He slightly nodded in wonder. Why can the girl be with them.

Ms. Artika shook her hand violently while showing a smile. His smile looked terrifying in Maisa's eyes. Mr. Chandra was a little confused by the rioting attitude that Ms. Artika had aimed at him.

"Your single son is as handsome as his father, yes." Ms. Artika's smile grew wider.

Kio smiled nodding his head. He glanced at Ken and Maisa for a moment.

Ken is a little disappointed with the attitude of his best friend who seems to not care about Maisa. He grabbed the girl's waist, pulling her closer.

Maisa looked towards him. Ken tidied up the hair sticking out kid. He kissed the girl's forehead.

"Then introduce this to my girlfriend, Om," Ken said, bringing the girl closer to his arms.

Some guests whispered to notice the girl's closeness to Brian's family. I wonder who that girl really is.

Mr. Chandra widened his eyes. Kio was no less surprised. He almost screamed to ask what this meant.

"Then, it doesn't matter if we bring this girl, right?" said Ms. Artika again while pulling Maisa's arm.

The girl's mouth was slightly gaping and her eyes widened. His brain performance instantly became slow after getting some surprises. Mr. Chandra was petrified, silent for a moment.

"What does that mean?"

"Let's go to the table, Sa." Ms. Artika pulled Maisa's hand leaving her husband and son. The girl complies. He turned his head towards Chandra sir who was still staring at him sharply.

That silence was enough to make Maisa understand that her father would not acknowledge her existence.

He smiled a little, clasping Artika's hand.

"So tell me, what did he mean on the show?" said Mr. Chandra when the event was over. They sat facing each other in the family room.

Maisa felt a sharp look from the two. He expected it to be in court like this.

"There's nothing to explain, Pa!"

Mr. Chandra kicked off his desk. "Maisa! How dare you do that in front of Brian and his family. Do you know how embarrassed I am?"

"Papa never understood my feelings either. I know I was wrong. I've been trying to atone for my guilt all along. But Papa never listens to me." Maisa's voice was slightly raised along with emotions.

Plaque! A hard slap came to his cheek. This is the second time his father slapped him. Kio was surprised to immediately pull Mr. Chandra away.

"Then get out of this house right now!"

Maisa held her reddened cheeks. His hands clenched. He took a deep breath.

"Good! I'm gonna go. When Papa said he was going to return me to Jogja, I was planning to get out of this house. That way I don't have to go back to Jogja, right?"

The two looked at each other, no one was willing to give up. The girl snatched the jacket on the sofa, ran towards her room and slammed the door.

"Where are you? Hey, I'm not done talking to you yet! Hey!" exclaim mr Chandra.
