The Horizon Boundaries
Ch.72 Survive

The sound of a heart rate monitor filled the ICU room. Evan sat down next to Lucy. Grinding the girl's skinny fingers. Next to her hand gently caressed her paled cheek. The girl had not opened her eyes for nearly three years.

"I hope you'll open your eyes again. I miss you so much."

His body gouged down, tilting his face. He used his left hand as a pillow. His eyes were filled with longing and sadness at the same time.

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."

Her chest feels tight. Guilt filled every niche of his heart.

The sound of the door shifting. Maisa went into the ICU. In her hand was a small flower vase. He arranged the roses that Evan had brought into the vase and put them on the table beside Lucy lying down.

"We have to go. Soon Papa and Mama Lucy will come" he said slowly.

It was hard to leave the girl alone in this cold room. Something has to be done for his good. Evan kissed Lucy's forehead gently.

"I'll come again." Evan smiled faintly, gently rubbing the girl's head.

Maisa and Evan walk out of the hospital. Both mute. Arriving outside, Maisa stopped her steps.

"What are you gonna do now? They won't be that easy to forgive you."

"I will apologize until they forgive me. How's yours?" evan replied while looking up at the dark sky.

Maisa also raised her head. He took a long breath. "Sister Kio would accept me, but not Papa. I begged for fifteen years. Well, you know, it didn't work. So I gave up. It would be better if I live my own life now."

Evan laughed a little. "Somehow do we look alike."

Maisa held back her smile. "No! We are not alike. Because you still haven't given up."

"Ah.... You're right."

A falling star splits the night sky. Maisa made a wish. He hopes Evan can be happy with Lucy.

Inside the ICU room, there was a small movement of Lucy's index finger.

...****...

Mr. Chandra quietly went into Maisa's room. The girl slept hugging the bolts. His blanket was thrown at his feet. Slowly he pulled her and enveloped the girl.

His hand was stretched out to his head. A second later he pulled it again. Mr. Chandra closed the door slowly. He took a long breath.

“What are you doing here?” Bi Dance's voice shocked her. The middle-aged woman stood beside him.

“Oh. I happen to pass,” said Mr. Chandra smiled faintly, passed in front of bi Tari.

Bi Tari tilted her head and smiled. He woke the girl up for breakfast. Maisa went down while yawning wide. There was already his father and Kio at the dinner table.

The sound of the clink of the spoon colliding with the plate. This was the first time since returning home, Maisa had eaten with her father. The last time he met him was talking about his college plans in Paris. After that, he rarely met. Mr. Chandra is preoccupied with projects in the company.

Maisa took a potato parchment and put it on Kio's plate. The man knitted his eyebrows. Maisa just smiled, continuing her meal.

Mr. Chandra hasn't said a word since the last conversation with him. The atmosphere feels heavy.

Kio glanced at Maisa then glanced at her father. An interesting sight. His father secretly watched the girl.

Kio cleared his throat slowly, breaking the silence. “Ah…. The end of the semester is near. I have to study hard so that my GPA does not fall.”

Silent. No response from his father. Maisa stopped eating. The rice on the plate was half. His appetite suddenly disappeared.

“Do not worry! I will finish my semester well. After that I will leave this house. I'm done eating. Then I'll go first."

Maisa pulls away, tidies the dinner plate and washes it in the washbasin. After that, he snatched the bag on his stool, running small out of the house.

Kio put a spoonful of rice onto the plate. His eyes watched the girl's movements.

"Did I say something wrong?" he muttered to himself.

"Just leave him alone" said Mr. Chandra continuing his meal.

"I think Papa will say it's none of my business. But has Papa apologized to Maisa?"

No answer came out of his father's lips. Kio ruffled his hair. Can't have these two people talking directly and making up.

"Then what Maisa said to want to go back home."

"I don't know."

Kio was speechless, at a loss for words.

Maisa walked slowly into the classroom. Mia was there. The girl smiled at him. His hands were busy doodling something on a piece of paper.

“What's up?”

Mia showed him a paper with scribbles. "I'm sketching for the basketball kids.”

“Really? Take look? Loh, isn't this supposed to be like this?”

“Masa, anyway?”

Both are cool about basketball game strategy sketches. Not sure, college time has begun.

“Next week has started the final semester exam. Learn well. I don't want your grades to be nothing bad. Okay!" said mister Miki

“Good, Sir," said the entire student at the same time.

“Tuition today is enough to get here. See you next week. Good day.”

Students immediately rushed out as soon as Mr. Miki left the class. Maisa tidied up her textbooks. Mia approached.

On the basketball court, Kio plays one on one with Evan. Kio looks annoyed Evan appeared in the middle of the field. He decided to fight the duel. His teammates were joking at him.

"Kio if you lose you have to treat us all" exclaimed one of them.

"I bet Kio will lose" Ken chuckled softly.

"Woi! You guys are not loyal friends!" kio exclaimed from the middle of the basketball court.

"Sorry, yes. The stomach matter is more important, "reply the rest of the team.

Kio cursed in annoyance. "Damn it!"

Mia nudged her best friend. He pointed at the man in front of Kio. Evan dribbled the ball past Kio.

"He was the one who played that game."

Maisa smiled as Evan managed to get the ball into the ring. "Yes. Evan moved to college here."

"Sister Kio, you have to win. If I lose, buy me a meal!" mia exclaimed from the sidelines followed by a whistle from the basketball team members.

Kio glared at the girl. Mia smiled widely, cupping her hands together forming a heart. It was as if an invisible arrow had pierced his heart. He covered his eyes. Why did he fall in love with that ugly girl.

"How is your relationship with your father? Is it getting better?" ask Ken slowly to Maisa's ear.

The girl turned to him for a moment, then turned to the middle of the field. He leaned his head on the man's shoulder.

"Eitherway. I don't know if it's called improving. That's fine, it's." Maisa lied to him a little. He didn't want Ken to worry about him. His relationship with his father did not develop at all.

"really? Thank goodness then."

The whistle ended the match. Evan came out as the winner. All team members cheered, can eat for free. Kio could only step down. Evan shook his hand.

"The match was interesting."

Kio smiled wryly, replying to his hand department. "Thank you."

Evan chuckled softly. "No need to be so stiff. Your boyfriend just looks happy."

Kio glanced towards Mia who was running small towards him. Evan walked away from the crowd.

"Where are you going?" Kio called out to him.

Evan waved his hand. "I have business. Give my regards to Maisa. He seems to be busy with his girlfriend.

Elsewhere, Lucy's fingers moved. Slowly open the eyelids. His black bead stared at the white ceiling of the room.
