In accordance with their agreement, today Shane will look for wild vegetables for his food and Elara. He did it all to survive in the forest. Elara asks Shane to wait for her inside the tent. Though hesitant, Elara finally lets Shane go.
"I'll be right back" said Shane, stroking Elara's head.
Actually, what makes Elara more hesitant to let Shane go, not only because she is afraid in the tent alone, but also because she worries about Shane.
"Shane, don't take too long, hurry back after feeling the food supply is enough."
"Yes, Honey. You believe me, don't you? It's not my first time in the woods, so be calm." Shane gently rubbed Elara's cheek with his sturdy fingers.
"Well, I'll wait for you here."
...**...
Shane down the forest, you could say there is not even a path to be used as a guide. Shane gave him some signs to let him know the direction to go back to his own tent.
In his search, Shane finally finds some wild vegetables that he knows can be consumed.
Shane walked again, of course he did not leave empty-handed, a pi-sau tucked in his calf, which he covered with socks. Shane also carries another pi-sau in his hand which is used to help him slash some twigs or bushes that cover his path.
Shane sparkled as he found a creeping tree, it looked familiar to him. He scratched his soil and got a sweet potato that could be consumed.
Shane took some and stuffed it into the backpack on his back.
Unfortunately, the journey to find food stocks had to be hindered by several dangers as Shane had predicted. He found a snake that almost pecked and drained can on his feet. Fortunately Shane was quick to respond and quick to protect himself.
The man immediately went to save himself, besides the sweet potato was enough. Shane wanted to return to his camp when his eyes accidentally saw the tantalizing fruit of the forest berry.
Shane approached the tree quite difficult because the tree was slightly inclined to the lowlands that formed the ravine.
Shane did not give up, he wanted to take the fruit for Elara.
...***...
Elara waited for Shane with anxious expectation. He finished reading the book Shane gave him. Shane says he will be back before Elara finishes reading the book, but Elara has read it twice, but the man has not returned.
Elara's mind was already filled with bad premonitions and such. The girl begins to fear that Shane will not return.
There are many obstacles that could have caused Shane not to go home to their tent.
Elara thinks Shane might have forgotten the direction of her tent. Or it could be that Shane was lost, what scared Elara the most was Shane falling or even being a food of wild animals.
That kind of thought flashed through Elara's head and frightened her even more.
Elara knows it's been too long and Shane hasn't been back. The feeling is even more unpleasant when hearing the howling of a coyote or maybe it is a wild wolf. Gosh gosh? Elara was agitated and panicked, even though she had tried to think about the positive and give her stimulus that everything would be fine.
Elara heard the approaching steps, and she was afraid that the wolf was approaching her tent. Elara was about to cry now. Especially thinking about Shane who hasn't come back.
"I beg you, Shane, come back. Hurry back." Elara monologue. He closed his ears as the howling of the wolf grew louder.
Elara felt being stalked even though she could not see what was happening outside the tent.
Elara wanted to peek but she was too scared to know the truth.
Until finally Elara felt her tent shake a little, like something was about to enter. Elara almost screamed at that moment, fortunately she heard Shane's voice at the same time.
"Did I surprise you?"
"Mirhane?" Elara hurriedly rushed in the man's arms. Finally he cried to vent the fear that had been held back.
"Hey, why?" Shane tried to look at Elara's face, but the woman stopped letting go of her arms to Shane.
Elara nodded at the chest of the man's field, she began to calm down as Shane stroked her back gently.
"I was almost back, but I had to experiment first."
Now Elara turned her face to look more clearly at the man who had just said about the experiment.
"Experiments? What did you do to experiment?" ask the girl while wiping her tears.
Shane helped clean Elara's face from the remnants of her tears. "So I found a mushroom, but I didn't know it was poisonous or not, I happened to see a rabbit and forced the rabbit to taste the mushroom."
"Rabbit experiment?"
"Hunts ..." Shane nodded his head. "The details are also brought, there in front of the tent, we see until tomorrow, if the rabbit does not react then the fungus is safe for us to consume" he explained.
Elara said Shane did not blink, making the man frown because Elara seemed to not respond to her words earlier.
"Why?" shane asked in surprise at the girl.
"I'm afraid you're not coming back."
Shane thinned his lips. "I promised I'd come back, right?" abugn.
Elara nodded her head quickly, for some reason she was so relieved now that she saw Shane back.
Elara also complained to the man about his fear, he also told about the howling of wolves that he had heard. Usually Elara never happens to anyone, including Kyle-his friends. But somehow he did that to Shane, seeing the man listening carefully, Elara became more comfortable with Shane's attitude.
Shane himself listened to every word that came out of Elara's lips, watching Elara's face that was able to calm her down. He stroked the girl's hair softly, smiling happily as Elara seemed open to him. Even because Elara said her concern for Shane clearly.
"Is the food shock you're getting enough of?"
Shane nodded. "Lumayan, but I'm sorry that we had to eat so much while we were here" he explained.
"It's okay, Shane. I am thankful that I can fill my stomach. How could I have acted in our current condition."
Shane kissed Elara's head with affection. He looked back at the girl's eyeballs.
"Are you hungry? I'll have dinner ready for us."
Elara nodded enthusiastically. The smile on his lips was perfectly curved, it seemed that he was very lucky to be found by a man like Shane. Even that man has become her lover.
Elara was worried about the time after coming out of this forest. He fears Shane will change to him if they return to their respective lives.
If yesterday Elara felt like getting out of this forest, but now she was reluctant to leave quickly because she was doubtful about the future of their relationship.
"Shane, will we meet again?"
"Why do you always ask that? Are you afraid our relationship will change?"
Shane is a good guesser. He often guessed right on target, it seems the man's intuition was also quite high and observant.
"Honestly, I'm afraid you'll forget me when we're done with this."
"Don't worry about anything. Didn't I promise to visit you later?"
Elara nodded her head, she was quite calm with Shane's words but deep down she remained worried.
