BEHIND THE FACTS

My heart raced in tandem with the roar of Daffin's car. I don't know what I'm going to face up ahead, but I've made a choice that I'm going to give Maya a chance to explain why she dumped me.

The journey home I was taking was long and made me tired. Unaware I finally fell asleep and let myself forget this anxiety for a moment.

"My Starfish ...," I felt a warm Daffin breath right in my face.

Sure enough! When I opened my eyes, Daffin's handsome and masculine face was above my sight. Those blue eyes are like bewitching me and making me feel like I can't wiggle.

"What's wrong?" ask Daffin cynically.

"Sorry, sir, Madam Maya is waiting for you." the bodyguard explained, he did not dare to raise his gaze.

Daffin flicked his hand to ask the bodyguard to leave and immediately raised the windshield.

"Have we been here since?" I asked finally after my consciousness returned completely.

Daffin's eyes glanced at the watch in his hand. "About thirty minutes ago,"

"What's? Why didn't you wake me?" I hurried to open the safety belt that wrapped around my body.

Daffin's big hand held back my hand and made me look at him in wonder.

"Are you sure?" daffin asked, he raised his eyebrows.

I breathe heavily. "I'm gathering my faith, Daffin, but I don't promise that the outcome will be what you want."

The warmth of Daffin's hand I could feel as he began to grab my hand into his. "Whatever your decision, I will accept it anyway because I believe Mrs Stevano always has wisdom in her decision."

Huh! I knew what Daffin meant to say, but I had no intention of quarreling with him so I just kept quiet and snorted in annoyance.

Daffin smiled, maybe he resigned with my attitude that is difficult to control like this. "Come, comein!"

Inside the house, Maya was waiting for me and Daffin to arrive even though time was late enough.

"Honey ..," cried Maya softly, her hands stretched out to embrace me.

This time I did not reject her, but I did not return her embrace either. I just kept staring at Daffin, hoping he understood that I couldn't accept Maya as my mother.

"Maya, I think Mrs Stevano needs a break. Given the pregnancy that made her tired quickly." said Daffin, he touched Maya's shoulder gently.

Although she seemed reluctant to let go of her embrace, Maya still smiled and stroked my hair. "Rest, honey, we'll talk tomorrow."

"Mrs Stevano ..," Daffin looked at me expectantly, but I remained unmoved.

I snorted at Maya's answer. "I guess you're just trying to buy some time!"

When I was just about to step in to leave Maya and Daffin, suddenly Maya's voice stopped me.

"You can hate Mom, honey, but I'm happy that I can still see you growing up with hatred than I can keep you but I can't protect you."

There was shock mixed with disappointment and regret mixed into one in Maya's speech until I unconsciously turned and saw Maya's face that had been flooded with tears. While Daffin just stared at him without intending to comfort him.

"It's okay, I'm just surprised that you're not mad at me for making your body cry." I continued to step up to Maya.

Daffin smiled blandly and was clucked even though not so audible. "I promised you that I wouldn't interfere."

A smile immediately rose on my face when I realized that my past battle with Maya was not going to be interfered with by Daffin.

"Thank you, Daffin," I whispered as I passed by Daffin. "Mrs Maya Kafeel, what was the reason you dumped me back then? Don't you miss your daughter? And do you know how sad the life of a child raised without parents is? Do you realize that every day I call you! Every time I get sick, I always say your name even if I don't know how you look."

Unable to hold the puddle of water in my eyes until unconsciously, the clear liquid slid freely into my cheek.

"I'm sorry, dear," Maya said, her eyes also incessantly shedding tears.

"I'm tired of hearing your apologies!" my sergeant, I feel that Maya is trying to tear me down with her tears.

"Mom knows, honey, but I'm not gonna stop apologizing until you're gonna forgive me." Maya approached me, and took my hand.

I threw Maya's hand violently. "I forgive you or not, it all depends on you."

Maya breathed deeply enough. "Alright, listen to Mom's story."
