SMALL PLANKTON

"Mahaha ...."

Cheers full of laughter filled the kitchen this afternoon. At first my mother and I were planning to leave the house, but my father called my mother and apologized because there were some things he had to do so he had to cancel his promise with my mother.

"Why do you look so happy, honey?" mother asked while tucking the mane of my hair that was not tied to my ears.

"I'm glad I learned how to cook, Mom. I thought cooking was creepy, but cooking was fun." I smiled as I continued to stir the cake dough on the table.

Mother's lips covered a thin smile. "Have you never cooked before, honey?"

I shook my head quickly. "Never! Erlan's brother always takes me to play whenever Grandma asks me to the kitchen." My laughter gushed back remembering that. "Until my grandmother gave up and let me grow up without cooking." I said.

Mother's face looks happy, but the look in her eyes implies sadness. It made me so curious that it forced me to ask.

"What's up, Mom? Mother looks restless," I asked as I looked into the eyes of the mother who began to glaze over.

My mother's warm hand rubbed my cheek gently. "Mother's happy, honey, it turns out you've been living well. Grandma Kencana's family must love you very much."

"Mom is right! Grandma and Brother Erlan so spoiled me. They always obey all my wishes, only Aunt Ratih likes to scold me. Especially if I don't want to help her and when I run away from school." The shadow of Aunt Ratih's angry face made me shudder in horror. "But I know, Aunt Ratih loves me too, Mom."

"Yes, honey, I know. I can see you grow up to be a brave and confident child." Mom's hand moved to caress my hair.

Although she smiled, I somehow felt that something was hurting her heart. I just hope you'll let me know if something's bothering her.

"Mom can ask?" asked the mother, who immediately regained my consciousness.

"Sure, Mom!" answer's sure.

Mom breathed deeply enough. "Do you love Daffin, honey?"

If you asked me that when I was just married to Daffin, I would definitely say no. But now my heart has changed. I've accepted Daffin as my husband.

"I'm trying, Mom," I replied ambiguously, too embarrassed to admit.

"Good! Daffin's a good man, honey. She had suffered enough to hold back her feelings all this time just for Mom's sake," said the mother, her lips quivering withstanding a cry.

My forehead is cringing because of mother's words. "That's, Mom?"

Mom took over the cake batter I had stirred. Mom's hands were so agile as to stir and print the cake into the baking pan.

"Daffin never loved Reena" said the mother, her hands busy putting the cake in the oven. "Mom knows all that Daffin did so Anna wouldn't hurt Mom. And really, honey, it's weighing heavily on Mom's heart. So when I first saw you, I was sure that Daffin loved you. Mom asked him to fight for his love for you and he did." he said.

"I don't understand one thing, ma'am, why does Daffin love you so much?" my many.

"Maybe because she thinks of me as her own mother. Because since the departure of his mother, Daffin spent more time with our family. I also already think of Daffin like my own son." explained the mother, his gaze glared somewhere.

My eyeballs continued to move left and right, in rhythm with the movement of my lips. "Then, why doesn't Daffin call you Mom? Is it because he's a stranger, ma'am?"

Mom smiled warmly. "Because Mom asked for it. I don't want anyone to call me mom, other than my own daughter."

Holy jeez!!! My eyes are starting to get hot. And without feeling my tears began to drip down my cheeks. My mother loves me so much. What Erlan said is true, every mother is an angel.

By late afternoon, my mother and I had finished cooking together. More precisely the mother cooking event because my job is just to stir the dough and other light things.

"You ready, honey?" mother asked, as I went down the stairs.

I just finished cleaning myself up and preparing myself as beautifully as possible. Who for? For my Plankton husband of course.

"Here you go, ma'am," I replied with a thin smile, then twisted my body. "What do you think of this dress?"

"Pretty. But why are you wearing a black dress, honey?" ask the mother with a frown.

My gaze went down to look at the dress that was attached to my body. "Why, Mom? I love this dress. And for some reason, black caught my eye."

Mother did not answer. His hand just stroked my unraveled hair. Makes me realize how lucky I am to have a mother like her.

"Why hasn't Daffin come home yet, Mom?" I looked around where there was no sign of Daffin's return.

"Maybe Daffin is busy, but isn't that good? This beautiful Mother's child has plenty of time to prepare the heart" replied the mother, her eyebrows rising and falling as if beckoning.

True too, it seems I have to practice again in front of the mirror so as not to be nervous when dealing with Daffin later.

"Tell him that you love him too, honey, I'm sure that's what Daffin really wants."

And this is my decision, I will express my feelings to the man I hated so much. A man who always makes me angry and cry, but that man also makes me happy today. The man who also became the way for me to regain my identity and also my life.

The corner of my lips drew a smile as wide as possible. "Alright, Mom! I'll go back to the room. Please let me know when Daffin's back!"

Without waiting for Mom's reply, I rushed back to the room and entered the walk in closet. In every corner of this room, I don't know why today it feels like there's a scent of Daffin's body everywhere. I feel like he's with me right now, teasing me like always.

Both of my hands covered my reddened face as I remembered the hot things I had done with Daffin.

"Oh my God, is this how it feels to be in love? I feel like a fool." I stuck myself in the mirror. "Look at my body! I'm getting fatter and soon I'll be a mother. It's a shame if I act like a teenager who's in a caravan." I say.

The memory of Daffin's gentle demeanor and patience and all his madness drew a red tinge on my face. Tired of smiling and fantasizing, I chose to sit on the sofa that was right under the window.

I put my feet up on the couch and straightened them and rubbed my enlarged stomach. "You know? Your father, ah no! He's not fit for dad. Daddy's! Yeah, daddy! Your daddy's a real bitch."

There was a subtle movement in my stomach that made me even more excited to tell stories.

"You listening to me? Good riddance! You have to be a good listener because I love to talk." A light laugh escaped my lips. "But you also have to be smart like your daddy because your responsibilities will be bigger than him. DS Corp and the Kafeel company are waiting for your cold hand, little Plankton."

Again, the movement got stronger so I slightly snapped and directly rubbed my stomach to calm it down.

"Hahaha .. You don't like it because I call you little Plankton. All right, young master, forgive me! You know who I am? I'm yourmother. Hemm ... But don't call me mom! Mommy's! Ok?" oh, my God, it doesn't matter if I'm actually alone in this room.

This time no movement. Maybe he agreed, I thought. Tired of blabbering, I chose to stare out the window with my hands resting on my chin.

"Daffin, hurry back or I'll forget what I wanted to tell you."

"Mrs Stevano ...."

The voice I was very familiar with, forced me to open my eyes and see the figure of Daffin was already in the doorway.

"Daffin?" I rubbed my eyes because of my slightly blurry vision.

I don't know how long I've been asleep. The tiredness and solitude made me fall asleep in the same position just before I closed my eyes.

I saw Daffin smiling and waving his hand at me then turning around to leave me.

"Daffin! Hey, where are you going?" I shouted, hurrying after Daffin.

Daffin's footsteps slowed down a bit, he turned to me with a gaze I had never seen before.

"Don't follow me, Mrs Stevano! Stay here!" the door, but keep walking away from me.

I frowned when I realized there was something strange about Daffin's face. He's pale! Right, his face is very pale.

"Daffin, are you sick?" I asked, as I continued walking to hold Daffin.

I caught up with him and grabbed Daffin's hand. It's cold! His hands were cold, ice cold.

"Daffin, look at me! You sick?" ask me again, a little bit of Daffin's hand to look at me.

Slowly Daffin turned his body. But what I saw I never really imagined. Daffin's body drenched in blood until his shirt turned as red as blood.

"No! No!" My hand went limp and by itself released Daffin's hand.

My feet stepped back away from the silent Daffin like a statue. He just looked at me with a scary smile until his shadow disappeared along with the fall of my body to the floor.

"DAFFIN!!!"
