The Musafir

The Musafir
You'll See a Beautiful Night

"However, I'm sure the flower can set me free." Kenanga.

"'Related'?" Jaya frowned. "Only with faith?"

Kenanga smiled sadly. "That's all I got. Faith, and hope."

Jaya was silent for a while before nodding slowly. Hope is a reason to live, people who do not have hope are people who do not deserve to live. As long as that hope remains, Kenanga will live on.

Jaya had no hope after her hopes of becoming a famous traveler had been dashed. Now he can unite his hopes with Kenanga, so that he lives and Kenanga lives. Jaya was determined to find the flower. Even if Kembangmas only exists in the shadows in Kenanga's brain, Jaya will still find it.

"Kangmas don't have to force themselves to get involved with my problems."

"No, Kenanga. I guess right now this is my problem too.."

Kenanga showed surprise. Actually he did not expect many Jaya would want to find the kembangmas. Kenanga only wanted Jaya to visit for a while so she had friends. Jaya's decision exceeds her shadow.

"I'll find Kembangmas even if it's only in your head."

"Jay ...."

"I mean it, Kenanga." Jaya stands. "We're in trouble, aren't we? I don't want you to spend decades locked up here, Kenanga. This place is bad, I mean your house is good, but the world is bad enough."

Kenanga's hand shook as Jaya turned to face the door. "Where are you going in the back?"

"Go quickly to find Kembangmas."

"Kangmas think flowers are easy to find?" kenanga. "I don't know where it is. Maybe in the Land of the Roof of Heaven, Suvarnadvipa, Champa, or even other hemispheres."

"I'll look for him all over Dwipantara."

"Kangmas can't go without supplies, right?"

Jaya turned to Kenanga as the girl continued, "Kangmas will rest here. I will prepare food and other supplies before Kangmas leaves. Kangmas Jaya can sleep on top."

Jaya nodded and smiled. "If you don't mind, I'm just here to see the paintings."

"Oh .. sure." Kenanga answered nervously. "If these paintings are looked at more carefully, they will be found ugly. Well, Kangmas, I'm gonna get out of this room and come back as soon as I can."

Jaya nodded as Kenanga walked past her. Door's closed. Jaya took a deep breath and looked more closely at the paintings on the walls.

One painting depicts three goldfish and a lotus leaf. So real that the small water waves in the painting could spill at any time. The more closely seen, then Jaya will see the scales of fish that look so slippery and real. Even the stone grains inside the pond looked like real stones. Like a real fish and pond. It's amazing, far from ugly.

The door reopened. Time passed so quickly, Jaya was so swept away on that one painting. Kenanga came carrying a tray containing mushroom and mustard stew.

"Kangmas Jaya, I hope you can enjoy this." Kenanga put the tray on the table. "But I assure you, these vegetables are delicious."

"Of course." Jay smiled awkwardly, I don't know how many days he hadn't eaten.

Lately Jaya was sitting on the side of the table. Take a spoon and start eating the vegetables. Jaya's eyes opened wide as the first feed entered. Whether Jaya's stomach is too hungry or indeed like this Kenanga cuisine.

Jaya remembered again the most beautiful cuisine she had ever made in the village. Jaya was sure to be right, this was exactly like the forest vegetables she had cooked in the village.

"Later I'll bring a mattress and a thick blanket here. Maybe the night will come soon. It's usually very cold at night." Kenanga got up and walked out of the room after saying goodbye. Jaya seems to not care about Kenanga, she is too centered on her food.

Shortly after Jaya finished her meal, Kenanga came to bring her promised goods. Kenanga immediately got over Jaya's dirty bowl and was about to leave the room, but she stopped at the doorway and turned to Jaya.

"Will the night really happen, will Kangmas come upstairs and see the beautiful night with me?"

Jaya turned her head as well and looked at Kenanga deeply. The girl looks like she is expecting Jaya's presence later. Jay could not refuse that request.

Then he nodded. "All right."

"Thank you very much, Kangmas."

Jaya nodded once more and Kenanga exited the room once more. So there was Jaya who looked at the other paintings in the room.

The young man was so swept away and entered into the world that existed in every painting. When Jaya saw the pesawahan painting, Jaya felt really in the middle of the rice field. In the painting of the waterfall, Jaya could actually hear the thumping of water that hit the rock. Until it was not felt that night rarely arrived. The air cooled, as if all the warmth was carried away by the sun.

Jaya though dissolved in the painting, can still feel the cold air and dark room after the sun goes away. At once Jaya remembered her promise to accompany Kenanga upstairs, so she rushed out of the room after the window closed.

Jaya climbed the stairs to the second floor made of wood tiles. On the second floor, there are several room doors that may be filled with rooms. The rooms were side by side and facing each other. In the middle there is a hallway that leads directly to the balcony. From Jaya's place, the balcony was in the dimness of the red lantern light.

Without hesitation, Jaya set foot onto the balcony. The wooden planks crunched slowly accompanying every step of Jaya.

Arriving at the balcony, Jaya was cold to the bones. This balcony has no roof, with a length of four fathoms and a width of two fathoms. Look at the dark sky. With fences on the outside. Without the sound of insects, the atmosphere was completely silent.

Kenanga is at the right end of the balcony. It looks solemn to light one more red lantern there. The clothes she was wearing were a little different, now she was wearing a red dress with a lacy translucent red hood.

The fire in the oil cotton had lit up, then Kenanga put it into the red tube. The radiance emitted was red, matching Kenanga's dress.

"The gold is coming." Kenanga turned to Jaya with her warm smile. "Thank you for fulfilling my strange request." Kenanga chuckled as she stepped near Jaya.

"This is my promise." Jay smiled as well. Kenanga was right beside him, staring at the sky.

"When your world is at night, I can't get out of here on that hill. I call it the Hill of Hope. The sky tonight is precious to me. It rarely happens, Kangmas. And if it happens, just a little while before the sun is back firmly in the middle horizon."

Jaya looked at Kenanga's face illuminated by the red light of the lantern. It was seen how sparkling the girl looked at the empty sky without stars and moon. There are no other crickets and crickets, but Kenanga still enjoys this. Jaya imagines how much worse it was in the days before she accompanied Kenanga here.

"When Kangmas isn't here, I feel like night can kill me with a million lonely days. I try to enjoy it by lighting the lanterns every night. But now I really enjoy the night. Without deserted. There's a friend I can talk to, not the wind."

Jaya clenched her teeth. Kenanga must have been through bad moments and lonely moments. Jaya felt she did not deserve to complain anymore, because she could still see the blue sky, green grass, and stars and the moon. He felt the abundance surrounding him. It is not worth complaining.

"You will see a beautiful night with the moon, stars, crickets, and fireflies. I promise."

Make a promise that is too bold.
