"Isn't it time for Brother Oliv to get out of rehab?" caroline asked innocently as soon as we got out of the car.
"..."
"I'm gonna get Carol inside the house. If Brother Arthur wants to go back to rehab, go, "I said as I pulled Caroline's body into the house.
It's still 1 p.m., so long for Arthur to make new memories with Olivia. He was forced to go home as soon as I saw him and Uncle Stephan was in rehab. I don't know what made her come home with me when her eyes still wanted to spend time with Olivia.
"Zeta, I'll be home tonight. I'm sorry" said Arthur and ran to the car park.
"Wahh, Brother Arthur really...."
"Carol, can you not ask such a sensitive topic to Brother Arthur?" cut me.
"Ahh, I'm sorry, I think Brother Arthur did want Brother Oliv out of rehab."
"Doctors haven't allowed it yet."
"Why?"
"There's something that's only been conveyed to the family and I'm not part of Kak Oliv's family. I don't know why."
Caroline and I resumed our footsteps when the car carrying Arthur went out of sight.
"Hmmm, Zeta?" call Caroline in a cautious tone.
"Yes?"
"Please don't tell Steph I'm here. Please," he said with a clear face. I ignored her and continued walking, making Caroline continue to whine at me.
My footsteps came to a halt as soon as I saw a figure who was not supposed to be in this house. Caroline's steps came to a halt, she was as surprised as I was seeing Alvin talking to my grandfather and Ken. The more surprising thing about this was the grandfather who let him into this house.
Alvin looked at me, making grandfather follow his gaze and found his grandson petrified. Grandpa walked up to me, he patted me gently on the shoulder and asked Caroline to help him pick something up. Caroline was about to refuse grandfather's request but grandfather had pulled his body leaving me who was still silent to return Alvin's gaze.
"I'll leave you two, if you want," Ken said, ending my gaze with Alvin.
"No, you can stay here" I replied as I walked towards the sofa where Ken was sitting.
Alvin looked back at me for a long time, recreating the silence in this room. His eyes shifted to my wrists, the already decorated wrist returning with the Aunt Lily bracelet. He smiled bitterly as he looked at the bracelet on my wrist. I hated the smile he was showing at the moment, a smile he shouldn't have shown me.
"What are you doing by being in this place?" I want to finish this conversation immediately.
Alvin looked back at me, with a gentle look of his, a look I didn't miss like I used to. The look he gave me now only left a deepening wound, one that I did not want to feel.
"Why do you want to be a donor to Sina?" ask her while putting some documents on the table. I don't know if this news will get to his ears so soon. If he had known, I'm sure William would have known about my decision to donate my spinal cord. Then, why didn't William say anything to me until now?
"My mom wants it."
"...."
"I do hate the bond of destiny that shackles our family. I hate you, I hate your mother, but I can't hate Brother or Sina because you are both victims of this fate. And I can't ignore my mother's last wish."
"And you agree to all this?" alvin asked Ken, making Ken just silently look at Alvin.
"You are the one who will accompany Zeta, you are the one who will be in charge of Zeta, and you are the one who Zeta's brothers will hate the most for all your decisions relating to her. You shouldn't have allowed Zeta to donate" he continued.
"Zeta's life, Zeta's body, Zeta's wishes, Zeta's dreams, and Zeta's hopes will always be hers even after we get married. I also want to reject Zeta's decision, but does doing so make Zeta happy?"
"...."
"Just like Alvin who still loves Zeta and wants happiness for her, I want the same. But Zeta's happiness can only be seen and sought from within Zeta. I don't want to make a decision where I just look at other people instead of looking at Zeta. Zeta will accept the consequences of my decision, so why should I see someone else?"
"Ken, stop," I cut as soon as I saw the look on Alvin's face change from calm to surprised mixed with sadness.
"I don't think I love Zeta the way you love her."
Alvin tidied back the documents on the table. He did not look at me anymore, rather avoided looking at me. He stayed for a few seconds before finally looking back at me.
"I'm sorry if the decision I made won't make you happy, Zeta."
"What does Brother mean?" I asked as soon as Alvin stood up from the couch.
Alvin just replied to my question with a small smile then went straight out. It left a thousand questions inside me. And leave fear for me.
