Mentari in the Night Sky
The Past: Their Meetings

“What do you do?” arthur yelled as soon as Ken opened the car door and sat down beside me.

“I was lazy waiting for an invitation,” he replied.

“I don't want you to dirty my car,” timpal William.

“Daddy asked me to play to your house.”

I closed the novel that I was reading and opened the car door that made the three men confused. I opened the front door, where Arthur sat and pulled his body out. He immediately understood my point and walked towards where I used to sit.

“Ah.... do you already hate me?”

“No, I was just lazy to sit next to sweaty people,” I replied.

I closed my mouth shut again, not caring about all the questions Ken asked. William and Arthur answered in my place, although their answer sounded more like an insinuation. Looking at his current attitude made me not know which one of us was pretending that everything was fine. I feel good that he and I are both pretending. I just don't know who is pretending to be happy.

“Are you happy with that woman of your heart?” ask Arthur cynically.

There's no answer.

“Jawab first…….Oh. isn't that Alvin?” said Arthur.

I turned my gaze to a man who was giving food to a beggar. He kept smiling while giving the food, and he even sat down and ate with the beggar. He ate only two mouthfuls of food in his hand and continued on his way on a bicycle.

“You really see him like you used to see Ken,” Arthur said again breaking the silence and making the atmosphere awkward, especially for Ken.

“I didn't...” my word stopped as soon as I saw a head beside William.

“Hai, I guess I saw it wrong.”

William opened the windshield and made us see Alvin's face clearly. It seemed like the reason he had only eaten two mouthfuls of his food was because of seeing William's car. William gives a ticket to Alvin. I read ‘Violin Concert’. Alvin smiled at me as he received the ticket from William's hand.

Did William buy it? But for what?

“Will you go with me?” askinya while looking gently at my eyes.

“Ah.... for me?” many surprised.

“Thank you, but I don't like violin,” Ken said in a mocking tone.

“Oh... you guys are still good friends.”

I don't know why I feel like the tone Alvin's saying right now isn't good enough to hear. I don't know if this is just my feeling or if Alvin's making a cynical note that he's wrapped in a friendly tone. Like he wanted to give something bad but he coated it with a good thing so as not to look too intent.

“Why not?” ken replied no less cynically.

“Darkening, seeing you showing off your affection in public and now together with other women,” timpal Alvin made us all speechless.

I think Alvin is typical of someone who will give back what he receives. But I was quite surprised to see someone seemed to be able to say things that were quite offensive to others. Actually I don't know anything about him to be able to give this kind of judgment.

I saw William and Arthur who were silent at his words. The atmosphere really became awkward. Without me noticing, I thrust a lollipop towards Alvin, leaving him perplexed. I was also confused by what I had just done. William also looked at me in disbelief and asked me to immediately do something with the lollipop that had been stuck towards Alvin.

“I really like this lolilop.”

“Thank you. I'll be waiting for you tomorrow at 8 p.m. Ah... William and Arthur can come even for tickets I can not give him hehe,” he said while receiving my lollipop.

Just a nod I gave in response. Just before he was about to pedal his bicycle, he again gave a single piece of violin concert tickets. This time I managed to pick up the ticket without any interruptions. After making sure I held the ticket, Alvin hurriedly pedaled his bike and waved at us. Once again I did not know what possessed me, I returned a wave of his hand and smiled at him.

The four of us were silent, no one wanted to break this silence. I know what is on my two brothers' minds. Right now, I'm not the self they know, even I don't know who I am right now. Alvin's like someone who can control me just like dad. I felt that both Alvin and Dad had the same aura that I couldn't dwell in front of them. But, rather than the aura Alvin had, it seemed like I was more trapped by his blue eyes. The blue eyes that from the beginning attracted me to keep looking at him and find out the story that was inside.

I looked at the ticket in my hand. For someone who plays the piano so well, why would he choose a violin concert?

“That's your last lollipop, do you want to buy again?” william finally broke the silence.

“Aibi already bought 1 week ago.”

“Zeta, never give your favorite lollipop to any man other than your sister.”

William's last words again made silence and awkwardness in the car. No one tried to melt the atmosphere. I don't know why William gave such advice and I don't know what Ken's current gaze means to me.
