Stephanie handed me a bottle of infused water. I understand his insanity in healthy living but I don't understand how he's the same William who put me in this position. I can't enjoy junk food as I please. At William's house he was always watching me and outside Stephanie was watching me. I wonder why it wasn't Caroline who was her twin sister who was treated like this by her.
Isn't William enough for me?
I slowly drank the infused water. Very bland, like plain water in general but fresh enough to relieve thirst.
“Wah, look at that. How could they also show affection here? Are they thirsty for attention?” caroline asked, taking the bottle from my hand.
Caroline always took the healthy food or drink Stephanie gave me but she never finished it. He only ate and drank one-third of it and the rest I spent. Now I know exactly why Stephanie didn't apply her healthy lifestyle to Caroline. Caroline acted as she pleased. If she likes it she will take it but if she hates it she will throw it away. Life is very simple and I want to follow it.
Turning my attention to Ken and Natasha, the two of them actually showed off their affection, making some upperclassmen and class mates slowly retreat. Natasha Anthony T., a name I don't even know. I didn't pay much attention to him before but 2 weeks ago he caught my attention. He's one of the students of choice, he got a scholarship to get into this school. The most expensive school in London, the school where the children of the conglomerate are located.
I didn't care much about his social status but many students became concerned once news between him and Ken spread throughout the school, his social status instantly increasing. The people who used to look at him one eye now look to him for face. The human heart is truly terrifying. Whatever it is, I don't want to get involved any further. I better think of myself.
Now it's time to go home but I can't because I have to wait for William and Arthur to follow the extracurriculars of basketball. Of course Ken is also a member of this extracurricular because that's why I can see him making out with his current girlfriend on the basketball court. I called the driver to pick me up but William said I should go home with him. And here I am, sitting still not knowing to remain silent or cheering.
Now it's just an ordinary match practice not a race but a basketball stadium full of people. I think they just want to see the players and not the game. It was very predictable to see how people cheered each other out shouting one or two names.
“Why does Natasha have to sit in the ranks of the players? Look at that shitty face. He really sucks,” complained Caroline.
“Hey hey, just talk facts without involving your feelings. You are now biased,” timpal Stephanie.
I agree with Stephanie. We cannot judge a person by involving our feelings or our judgments will be subjective and detrimental to ourselves or others. Rationally, I really like Stephanie who never involves her feelings when she sees a problem. Very different from Caroline who always involved her heart whenever and wherever.
“Can I sit next to you? Other bench full.”
A voice distracted the three of us. We looked at the direction the sound was coming from. The pair of blue eyes I saw in the music room, were now beside me. I stared long enough with the owner of the blue eyes until the audience behind shouted because they felt hindered. I just realized that Stephanie was elbowing me and shifted so she could sit next to me.
“She's Alvin's sister, isn't she?” caroline whispers.
I could clearly hear his voice. He really can't control the volume of his. It seemed like Alvin also clearly heard the whisper, seeing how a smile was knotted in his cheek. He was now very serious about watching the match and no longer cared about his surroundings. I focused myself on the basketball court that was now starting to heat up.
William and Arthur continue to attack the team led by Ken, as if they both intend to embarrass Ken. I didn't even ask them to do that stupid thing. I really hate those who meddle too much in my life.
“What is your fiancee? Male back number 12.”
I didn't hear wrong, did I? The man beside me spoke? Was it directed at me?
“I asked you,” he said so seeing me just looking at him in confusion.
The first smile I saw was full of sincerity. There are no lies. There is no burden. There is no compulsion. A smile that was truly a smile, a smile like a baby.
“It looks like he likes you,” he said once again to my surprise.
I followed his index finger pointing at Ken. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but right now Ken is also looking towards where I'm sitting. He was even hit by a ball when his team-mates tried to pass the ball towards him. Ken immediately took the ball so realized and refocused on the game.
“For you.”
A music book was handed to me. What situation I'm in, I don't know. I held the music book in my hand as if I was obeying an order from my father. Just this time there was someone who made me do as he was told without making me wonder other than my family members of course. Sometimes I even ask a lot of questions when Arthur tells me to do something.
“That's my life. I'm going down. If I can score 20 points, I'll play all the music games in that book for you. If I can't, you can ask me to play anything from that music book,” he said before taking to the basketball court.
“He's crazy?! How could those two things be beneficial to him?! Shouldn't one of them be a disadvantage to her?” caroline shouted to the attention of the audience next to where we were sitting distracted for a moment.
“…”
“What meeting you is a disadvantage?” he is no less hysterical than before.
I just shook my head. I followed his back which continued to walk closer to the basketball court. He took off the hoodie he was wearing, making me realize that he was wearing a basketball uniform. Even the shoes he wears are basketball shoes. It is stupid of me not to realize it.
Wait for…
Didn't Caroline say she just loves the piano?
“He can play basketball?” many surprised.
“I don't know. It's the first time he's been on the basketball court,” Caroline replied confusedly as I was.
“Wait, how can he chat with you? She never said more than two words to anyone other than William,” asked Stephanie no less confused.
“She scored 6 points after she came in,” Stephanie said again with a confused face and her awkward tone made me turn my attention to the scoreboard.
Various questions came to my mind. I don't know what questions to ask first. I don't even know who that question should be asked. Right now, I can only continue to hold the book in my hand and stare deep into the basketball court where the man I did not know had scored 10 numbers. The man even hugged my two brothers.
What is really going on right now?
