“Include, he's Alvin.”
“Ah.. I'm Irene and she's Zeta. Nice to meet you,” Irene said full of awkwardness.
I remained silent as usual, not even I stared at them. I don't want to look into those eyes anymore. Irene nudged my arm, making me realize from my daydream. I know, I shouldn't forget manners. I lifted my face and a pair of blue eyes were already looking at me. I guess he kept watching me from the moment he set foot into the cafe, seeing how calm he was as I looked at his face.
“Contest. Zeta doesn't like to talk, she'll just ignore you. We better talk to Irene,” Kesha said as she pulled Alvin's arm to sit down.
“Really?” ask with a smile.
I am not a person who easily socializes. There are many kinds of conversations that I can't follow, and right now is one example. Conversations about dresses, engagements, and parties. I just quietly enjoyed my hot chocolate by occasionally looking out at the cafe. Now all my guards are outside the cafe but their eyes keep looking inside. Some visitors began to show their discomfort. Everyone would definitely feel uneasy when there were some unknown people who were constantly observing him.
I want to go home now.
“Isn't this a piano score? Wah... his tone can be directly played in my head.”
Even though my two bodyguards had put all the items I had taken out but why could the paper be in his hands?
“What is this yours?” askinya.
His body was leaning towards me and I kept staring at the cup in my hand. Kesha and Irene stopped their conversation as soon as a question was asked of me. After a few minutes, without me realizing my hand nimbly took the piece of paper from his hand.
“My engagement won't steal your song,” said Kesha cynically.
“It looks like you said right. He will ignore me,” he said followed by a small laugh.
“He always does, doesn't he Irene?”
“Yes. He's always been like that. Nothing has changed,” replied Irene doubtfully.
Once again, a conversation I can't follow. I don't want to have a conversation with them either. They went back into a world that was foreign to me while I looked out again. The snow came back and several passers-by entered the cafe one by one but my four guards stayed outside as if something was holding them back from entering. I wish one of them would come inside and take me away.
I turned my eyes back to the empty cup in my hand. Just as I removed the handle of the cup, another cup full of chocolate was thrust at me. Before I could figure out who did it, a pair of blue eyes were looking back at me with a sweet smile on his face.
“It looks like you still want to drink it,” he said.
“No, he just wants someone to take him away,” said someone gasping.
A hand pulled my arm to make me stand from where I sat. Someone I believe ran towards this cafe, hearing a new voice coming out of his mouth. Kesha and Irene who were busy talking about the dress finally distracted them.
“My name is Ken, not Kenny. And when do you come home?”
“Today, and can you put a little feeling into your question?”
“Lain times I will input. Can I bring my wife?”
“Can you be a little pleasantry?” Irene asked in her typical cynical tone.
“Bawalah, after all he did not say a word,” said Kesha followed by a welcoming hand gesture.
“Okay, bye. See you.”
“Eh, wait. This is Alvin, my fiancee.”
“Happy to meet you,” Ken said as he welcomed Alvin's hand.
It took only two seconds for both of them to shake hands and I felt an uncomfortable feeling growing between them within 2 seconds. Ken immediately took me out as soon as they finished that awkward handshake. He also asked the bodyguards to follow us from a long distance once Mr. Lee approached us.
“Where's your scarf?” tanyakanya.
“Ah... lagging.”
“Where?”
Just a prickly smile I gave in response. I always forget the things I wear. I accidentally left my scarf when I saw the snow for song-making duties. Maybe now someone else has found it, that's my hope. At least don't let the scarf I left behind be thrown away, it's better for someone else to find it and use it. Ken took off the scarf he was wearing and put it on me. I watched his ears turn red. He's someone who's very cold but when he's with me he'll pretend he's not cold. I closed both of her ears, making her smile.
“Sorry to disturb you. I think you left this.”
Once again, a pair of blue eyes had looked at me without me noticing. Ken took the hearing aid out of his hand and put it in my ear. I just kept quiet, not knowing what to do between these two men and also I did not know when to take out the hearing aid from inside my bag until it could be in his hands. I just remember taking out my college book and closing my bag so the other stuff doesn't fall in splattered.
“I'll keep the reason why you ignored all my words to Kesha because it seems like she doesn't know about your condition. Nice to meet you and I forgot not to shake hands with you as a sign of our first meeting.”
A hand outstretched with a pair of eyes that kept staring at me. I turned my eyes to Ken. He just nodded his head. Back to my eyes on the hand hanging in the air. I shook that hand that was immediately answered tightly, tighter than Ken's hand.
“It's nice to meet you,” he said once again before returning to the cafe.
