"Dad's still in grandpa's study."
William gave me a cup of hot chocolate. As soon as he arrived, he did not utter a single sentence nor tears. He only showed the usual flat and cold expression he gave. The sentence he had just spoken to me was the first sentence that he let out as long as he set foot in this house. I think that's his fortress to not fall. The fort might kill me first but it was that fortress that saved him until now.
Unlike William who prefers not to show any emotion, Arthur has more than 2 hours locked himself in the room. He didn't allow anyone to enter. Several times weeping sounds were heard from his room and again no one dared to come in to accompany him, including me. There will be no one who can calm someone who is feeling regret because the regret will be enlarged with the sympathy of others.
"Grandfather's been beating up dad for two hours. It looks like tomorrow at the funeral people will be more gossipy about the reason for the wound on the body of the father," William said as he sipped hot chocolate from the cup in his hand.
"I think grandfather will listen to you if you ask him to stop beating me" he continued.
"Far down in my heart, I knew he deserved all the blows. Dad could have asked the bodyguards to stop grandfather but you wouldn't have done that" I replied, not wanting to interfere in my affairs.
"really?" reply William cynically.
I took the cup from William's hand and placed it on the side table where we were sitting, along with my cup. William looked at me gently and immediately looked at the silent night sky as soon as I returned his gaze. I held her cheeks and put her forehead on my shoulder. Something he always does whenever he gets into trouble. He wouldn't be able to do this right now. This is all I can give him.
"Cry as if tomorrow is the end."
William's body trembled and tears began to wash over my shoulders.
"I'm not a good boy. I always ignored my mother and preferred to study the Allison Family business. I have always rejected mother's invitation and prefer to spend my time looking for the weaknesses of other companies. I never protected you.."
"Sister protects me and protects me just as much as protecting mom" I cut.
"..."
"I've never sided with my mother even when it was my father who made a mistake. In fact, after I knew all the truth about dad, I still defended him and hurt mom's feelings. I'm...."
"You're the first greatest man I ever gave birth to, sister."
"No."
"Yes and Brother have to prove it."
"..."
"Without saying it, I already know that we love her so much. Mother never regretted giving her love even though in the end she did not get a reply that was worth the love she gave," I said while gently rubbing William's hair.
"What should I do after this, Zeta?"
The question I asked myself as well. I don't even know the answer to my question then how can I answer William's question?
I let William cry until he fell asleep and left me alone in the dark of the night.
