Chapter 51: Testing the Heart.

One week after the surgery, Layla was conscious of her coma. Although she still looks weak but Layla always smiles when the students and teachers at her school come to visit. Raiden is by his side every day. With a bouquet of delicious flowers that Raiden always put on Layla's side.

All the sincerity, the attention Raiden gave Layla felt even more guilty. To date, Layla still has not been able to open her heart to others.

"Thank you, you're always there for me." Layla grabbed Raiden's hand and rubbed it gently.

Raiden smiled at Layla, "it's your turn to Layla."

Layla gave a small laugh in response to Raiden's words. "I want to go home."

"Later, I'm trying to talk to Dr. Kenzi." Raiden answered Layla's question.

Layla nodded her head, "i'm tired of it here."

"You wait here, I'll see Doctor Kenzi first." Raiden stood up and looked at Layla for a moment.

"Don't be long" Layla said.

Raiden nodded his head, he immediately stepped foot into Doctor Kenzi's room.

After Raiden died, Layla was silent looking at the sky of the room, "This is the end of my life" Layla murmured softly. "All hope, faith, has vanished with time. I don't even know where to put my trust anymore." Layla wiped away her tears that were about to fall.

"Czech" the sound of the door being opened from outside.

Layla turned her head towards the voice, she was surprised to see Kei standing at the door with a look of bewildered face.

"Key?" layla murmured softly.

Layla saw Kei staring at her and slowly walked over to her, "are you okay" Layla asked trying to suppress her feelings.

Kei nodded his head looking at Layla deeply, slowly his outstretched hand about to touch Layla's face. But suddenly, Kei pulled back his hand, "who are you?" Kei asked back.

Layla took a deep breath, "i'm not who I am" Layla replied with her voice stuck in her throat.

"What pain do you have?" kei asked with a fixed gaze towards Layla.

"Brain cancer."

"The man you're with, is he your husband?" ask Kei.

"He's my brother." Layla turned her face to the side while wiping her tears.

"I feel like I know you, but I forget who you are," Kei directly held onto his head that hurt. "Aww, it hurts a lot."

"Key?" Layla got up and sat down, her hands outstretched about to touch Kei's. But Kei turned around and ran out while holding his head.

"Key!!" exclamation Layla.

"Y!!" Layla grew louder and louder, calling out Kei's name, while hitting her legs, which she could not move.

"Laila?" Raiden who had just come immediately ran up to Layla and hugged her. "What's up, Layla?" ask Raiden.

"Kei, I want to see Kei." Layla said raspingly.

Raiden was stunned, his heart was like a thousand needles. He was stunned for a moment and took off his arms and stood looking at Layla.

"I want to see Kei." Layla said again.

"Get him if you can" replied Raiden coldly.

"Ray? you why?" ask Layla her voice is getting hoarse.

"You ask why?" Raiden rubbed his face rough.

"Am I wrong?" ask Layla.

"You're not wrong, Layla, but you're overreacting, you know that?" raiden replied annoyed.

"What do you mean, Rai?"

"I know you don't love me" Kei said. "I know, in your heart there's only Kei, I understand it's Layla!" said Kei with a high tone of voice.

Layla shook her head to look at Raiden, "no Rai, that's not what I mean."

"As long as I am always there for you, I am always there when you are hard, happy or sad. But, do you think a little bit about appreciating my existence, Layla?" ask Raiden with emphasis.

"You show off your love for Kei! but what does your love mean if you don't appreciate the existence of others!" kei said "not that I bring up everything I have given. But, just look a little at my existence." Raiden begins to get upset and does not accept that Layla keeps thinking about Kei, while Raiden tries hard for his recovery.

The question arises in Raiden's mind, whose love is holier between his loves? or Kei?

"I'm sorry Rai.forgive me.." said Layla Lirih.

"Okay, now this is it. I'll take you to your house, but after that I won't interfere with anything else about you. You can stick with your love for Kei, I don't understand at all the love you're keeping" Raiden said.

"Rai, I'm sorry.don't get angry." Layla said.

But Raiden remained silent, then Raiden lifted Layla's body slowly and she put it on a wheelchair. After that Kei immediately pushed Layla wheelchair towards the car to go home.

Arriving at home, Raiden immediately took Layla to her sterilized room. "Rai.sorry.forgive me." Layla did not stop apologizing, because this time Raiden was really upset with Layla. He wanted to test her feelings and Layla's feelings for him. Is it true that Kei's love for Layla is sacred and worthy of preservation or vice versa?

After finishing arranging all Layla's wishes, Raiden immediately exited the room leaving Layla who was trying to chase him using a wheelchair.

"Rai, sorry."

But Rai didn't press him, "Mbok.. Mang Usman.don't forget all my messages, and don't forget also the drug for Layla."

Raiden stared at Layla for a moment, then he let go of Layla's hand and lowered it. Then he stepped into the yard and got into the car leaving Layla's house.

"Raey!" layla looked at Raiden's departure. Layla cupped her face and cried a mouthful.

Mbok Darmi and Mang Usman try to calm Layla down, then they take Layla to her room.

One week later, Raiden never comes to Layla's house again. Layla is getting sad and lonely. He was very sorry for never thinking Raiden existed. Layla just thought about Kei.

"What is my fault, O Rabb," Layla said. "I miss Raiden, why he won't forgive me."

Layla feels lost to Raiden, but only one week left Raiden. Now Layla admits to the existence of Raiden is so meaningful in his life. Raiden who always makes Layla laugh, Raiden who always gives the best for Layla, Raiden the first person who is always there when Layla falls into the deepest abyss.

"Rai, I'm sorry" Layla said, making her even sadder.

Every day, Layla would sit in a wheelchair in front of her porch, hoping Raiden would come back the way he used to. But, it's been over a week Raiden hasn't come.

"Mmd!" exclamation Layla.

Mbok Darmi who was in the living room was sweeping, immediately ran out of the house to approach Layla.

"Yes Neng?" ask Mbok Darmi.

"Where is Mang Usman?" ask Layla.

"There is Neng" replied Mbok Darmi.

"Take me to Raiden Mbok's house" Layla said in tears.

"But Neng-?"

"Mbok, I beg you." Layla folded her hands and begged Mbok Darmi to grant her wish.

"Alright Neng, wait here. Mbok call Mang Usman first.

Layla nodded her head, then turned to look at the gate of her house. He saw Raiden's car go into the yard.

" Raiden?" Layla's eyes sparkled.

"Tie!!" exclamation Layla.

Raiden exited the car door staring at Layla. He immediately walked up to Layla and hugged her tightly.

"I miss you Rai" Layla said.

"I'm sorry Layla, because I'm adding weight to your mind."

"No Rai, you're right. I've been wrong all this time" Layla said. "Will you forgive me?"

Raiden nodded his head, he let go of his embrace and kissed Layla on the forehead. "I'm sorry" he said slowly.

"Me too, promise me that you won't leave me again." Layla raised her one pinky.

"I promise" said Rai. "But you also promise not to repeat it."

"I promise, Rai."

Then Raiden returns Layla's pinkie with her pinky. Then they laughed and hugged again.

"Loh, this is Den Raiden." Mang Usman sees Raiden at home.

"Yes Mang, not really" Layla replied as she took off her embrace.

"Yes, thank goodness it's better. Let's get you some coffee first." Mang Usman then went back inside directly to the kitchen. And make coffee for Raiden
