Chapter 37: Death of Dinda

Dinda's condition is getting worse and worse. He has been in hospital for three days. But there's no sign Dinda's gonna heal. Doctors say if Dinda's body has refused the intake of vitamins and drugs given by doctors. Dinda's body in three days dropped drastically, not because the Doctor was unable to treat Dinda. But the burden of thought that makes Dinda no longer a spirit of life. He felt that there was no more happiness for him.

Yuda, as a father, certainly felt devastated. He blamed Kei and Layla as the cause.

"I'll make a calculation with you, if anything happens to Dinda." Yuda stared angrily at Kei.

"Papa can blame me, but," said Kei, "Papa can't blame Layla."

Yuda smiled slantedly at Kei. He walked up to Kei and grabbed onto Kei's collar.

"Why are you defending Layla?" said Yuda. "Do you still love her?"

Kei pulled Yuda's hand and lowered it from the collar of his shirt.

"Deliver!" exclaim Kei.

Yuda snorted angrily at Kei. His hand stretched forward pointing towards Dinda who was lying weakly.

"You consider your love sacred to Layla" Yuda said. "But you lost your humanity, where your conscience is, Kei!! yell Yuda.

Kei looked straight at Dinda, he sighed deeply, and lowered his head.

" Papa.." said Dinda Lirih.

Judah went to Dinda and sat down on the chair. He grabbed Dinda's hand and clasped it tightly and kissed her deeply.

"What's the matter, baby?" ask Yuda.

Dinda looked at Yuda, then turned to look at Kei.

"Kei," - Dinda's hand outstretched trying to reach Kei-'s hand" come here" said Dinda softly.

Kei walked slowly and sat down on a chair to greet Dinda's hand.

"Do you need anything?" ask Kei.

Dinda shook her head. He smiled at Kei and turned to look at Yuda.

"I want to, you guys don't fight, as long as I'm sick, can you?" ask Dinda.

Yuda stared intently at Kei for a moment, then turned to look at Dinda.

"Of course" said Yuda.

"Thank you." Dinda's eyes are glassy.

Yuda and Kei were silent for quite a long time. They only noticed every movement of Dinda's breath.

"Dinda, you rest. I'll wait for you here." Kei put down Dinda's hand and gently rubbed Dinda's hair.

Dinda nodded her head, then she tried to close her eyes. Kei put down Dinda's hand and pulled out a blanket to cover Dinda's body. As Judah got up from his seat and stepped outside the room without saying a word to Kei.

Kei looked at Yuda's back, let out a long sigh and exhaled slowly. Then Kei turned his gaze to Dinda who was sound asleep.

"I'm sorry..," said Kei. "All my fault."

Kei lowered his head and cried in silence.

Day seven of Dinda's hospital stay. His condition is getting more concerning. Kei never left Dinda. He hopes Dinda will be healthy again.

"Kei, let me take care of Dinda. You rest first." Anita looked at Kei's face that looked pale from lack of sleep.

"No ma'am" Kei replied. "I'm staying here."

"All right, do you need anything?" ask Anita.

Kei shook his head looking at Anita. His eyes were saddening with sadness.

"Yes already." Anita walks out with Abdul.

Kei sighed deeply staring at Dinda's face which looked deathly pale. Kei grabbed Dinda's hand and kissed her slowly.

"Dinda, wake up." he said softly.

"Kei.." said Dinda Parau.

"You awake?" ask Kei.

"Uhukkk!"

Dinda coughed coughfully and pulled blood out of her mouth.

Kei stood up and took the mineral water on the table, and he gave the mineral water with a straw on Dinda.

"Thank you."

Kei put the glass back on the table. Then he confirmed the pillow so that Dinda could lean back comfortably.

"Hey, I want to go home" said Dinda. "I'm bored here."

"But you're not healed yet." Kei allowed the hair blocking Dinda's face.

"But I'm bored." Dinda looked straight ahead with blank eyes.

Kei let out a long sigh, then he exhaled slowly. Then he stood up and walked towards the door of the room.

"Uhukk!!"

Kei stopped his footsteps. Looking back at Dinda. Kei went straight back to Dinda.

"Uhukkk! Uhukk!"

Kei immediately pressed the button to call the Doctor. After that he justifies Kei's body and covers Dinda's body with a blanket.

"Hold on."

Kei took a tissue and wiped the blood on Dinda's lips. Shortly thereafter, the doctor came with two nurses.

"What's wrong?" ask Doctor.

"Dock's looting." Raiden looked at the Doctor for a moment.

"Please wait outside." The doctor examined Dinda.

"But Doc?" Kei refuses to leave Dinda.

"Good Sus."

Kei put his foot out of the room. He stood at the door of the room anxiously. From a distance Kei heard the sound of footsteps from the hallway of the Hospital. Abdul, Anita and Yuda were walking towards him.

"What's Kei?" ask Yuda.

"Dinda Pa" said Kei. "She's bleeding."

"What?" Yuda widened his eyes to look at Kei.

Kei nodded his head. "True Pa."

Yuda immediately walked towards the door, but in the way of Kei. "Don't Pa!" exclaim Kei. " The doctor asked us to wait outside.

"Mahkk!"

Yuda pushed Kei's body to the side and Yuda immediately opened the door. Seeing Dinda in critical condition, Yuda immediately ran to Dinda. But the two Sisters directly pulled out Yuda's Arm and took her out of the room.

"She's my daughter! I want to be near him!" pekik Yuda's.

"Sorry sir, please don't make a fuss" said one of the Sisters. Then the sister went back into the room and closed the door.

"Let me in!" yuda shouted while hitting the door of the room.

"Sir, be patient" said Abdul to calm Yuda's heart.

"Dinda my son." said Yuda lirih.

Twenty minutes passed, the door of the room was not yet opened. Yuda, Kei and his two parents waited anxiously.

Soon the sound of the door opening from inside. Kei and the others directly approached the door. The doctor came out of the room.

"Who is Kei?" ask Doctor.

"I Sir" Kei replied taking a step forward.

"Mom Dinda wants to talk to you."

Kei immediately entered the room and walked slowly closer to Dinda. Her tears welled up, her hands outstretched to grab Dinda's hand. Then he sat down on the chair without letting go of his hand. Medical devices were attached to Dinda's body.

"Miss..."

Dinda turned her head slowly towards Kei and she smiled faintly trying to open her eyes.

"Kei.." he said softly.

"Don't talk first, you rest first."

Dinda shook her head slowly.

"No Kei" he said slowly. "I want to talk to you."

Kei sobbed at Dinda, occasionally kissing Dinda's hand. "I'm sorry."

"It's too late for Kei, I'm sorry you're no longer of any use."

Kei shook his head looking at Dinda. He was getting nervous and feeling guilty.

"My time is not much" said Dinda hoarsely.

"Don't say that, you're not going where Dinda is."

Dinda smiled. "Kei, after I'm gone. Go back to Layla."

Kei continued to shake his head, staring at Dinda's face. "No Dinda..no will.." said Kei sobbing.

"Hey, I.me..."

Kei rounded his eyes looking at Dinda who was drooping limp and his eyes closed. A moment Kei was fixated, then he shouted hysterically.

"Srrr, Dindaaa!" pekik Kei's.

Kei shook Dinda's body and hoped that Dinda would wake up as she was. But Dinda doesn't respond to it anymore.

"Doctor!!!

Yuda, Abdul and Anita go straight into the room, along with the Doctor and Sister.

" You guys get out first." The doctor examined Dinda.

"Doctor, what happened to my daughter?" ask Yuda.

"Sorry sir, can you wait outside?" the doctor looked at Yuda and the others, and then he injected the medicine in the infusion tube.

"Let's Sir, Ma'am."

The nurse stood in front of the door of the room and invited Kei and the others to wait outside.

Finally Judah and the others waited outside anxiously. It appears that Abdul and Anita offered prayers to the Divine Rabbi for the healing of Dinda. While Yuda can only go on and on, occasionally from his mouth comes an indistinct maki curse. She regrets her mistake in marrying Dinda to Kei.

Thirty minutes passed, the sound of the door opening from inside. Kei and the others immediately walked up to the door of the room as the Doctor walked out of the door.

"What about my daughter Doc?" ask Yuda.

The doctor was silent for a moment, then he began to explain Dinda's condition.

"Sorry, Miss Dinda can't be saved."

Yuda shook his head, he took a step back "It is impossible.." said Yuda slowly.Yuda immediately rushed into the room followed by Kei and the others.

"Yahoooo!!!" yuda shouted hysterically hugging Dinda's stiffened body.

"Wake up dear," Yuda looked at Dinda's face. "Don't leave Papa, son."

Yuda cried while hugging Dinda's body. Suddenly he laughed and looked at Kei.

"You see?,"-Juda sobbing-"you're satisfied!"

Kei lowered his head, he cried in silence. He was unable to raise his face as Judah blamed him for Dinda's death.

The doctors, Anita and Abdul try to calm Yuda and ask him not to dissolve in grief. Although the weight must be left by a loved one, but Yuda is asked to recite the departure of Dinda.

The crying of Yuda began to stop. He let when the Sister brought Dinda's body to be brought home.
