Chapter 12: Hope

That afternoon Layla and Kei were walking between the paths of the tea garden. Layla and Kei have just finished getting painting offers from holiday entrepreneurs. Kei stopped his steps and sat on a bench in the middle of the tea garden.

Kei pulled Layla's hand to sit next to him, "Sit down."

Layla sat next to Kei as she clasped the money, "thank you, Rabb." Layla raised both her hands in gratitude and then she rubbed them against her face.

"Today we have much sustenance from Layla." Kei looked at Layla's face.

"You're right Kei, this money we saved for our future." Layla's eyes sparkled.

"You're right Layla."

"Key, what will this money do?" layla asked as she looked at the money in her hand.

"Make a house, get us married later" Kei replied by hugging Layla's shoulder.

"How many children do you want?" ask Layla with a small laugh.

"i want to have two children." Kei laughed a little.

"Amin" Layla said.

"May the Supreme Owner of Life grant all of Layla's prayers."

"Amin" replied Layla bowing her head.

"Are you okay?" tanya Kei raised Layla's chin.

"I miss Mom and Dad." Layla's eyes are glassy.

"Me too, but they don't approve of us, Layla." Kei wiped Layla's tears away.

"Kei.." said Layla Lirih.

Kei hugged Layla, for a moment they fell silent. They did not know that their parents were on their way to Nek Karsih's shop.

"We go back to Nek Karsih's shop and tell Grandma that we have a lot of sustenance." Kei let go of his embrace and got up from his seat and pulled Layla's hand to get up.

Layla nodded her head, then she got up and stood up. "yuk."

"You mustn't be sad, Layla, we're going through all this the same."

Layla nodded her head and looked at Kei.

"You got Kei's money." Layla hands the money to Kei.

Then Kei received the money. Then they both set foot down the path of the tea garden and held hands. In between the steps they sing small and talk about the future later.

Soon they arrived at Nek Karsih's shop. Arriving in the store Kei and Layla immediately tell about those who get a lot of sustenance and show the money in front of Nek Karsih.

"Thank you, Lord Rabb" said Nek Karsih, rubbing his face as a sign of gratitude.

"Save your money for your future." Nek Karsih looked at Layla and Kei.

"Good Grandma" Kei replied.

Suddenly they saw two red cars stopping right at the store owned by Nek Karsih. Layla and Kei came out to greet them. Kei and Layla thought that the car was going to shop at Nek Karsih's shop.

How shocked are Kei and Layla to see the person who got out of the car, "Dad? Mommy?" kei's murmur clearly sounded Nek Karsih. In the next instant Kei pulled Layla's hand and sprinted.

"Layla run!!"

Layla followed Kei's footsteps by running away quickly to avoid their parents. While Nek Karsih was gawking at Kei and Layla who were running fast. He doesn't understand at all what's going on.

Abdul, Alya, Surya and Anita yell to each other's names as soon as Kei and Layla run.

"Let's!!"

Abdul and Surya ran after them. Anita and Alya from behind. While two of his guards ran and cornered from the opposite direction.

"Come on Layla run towards the tea garden" Kei exclaimed at Layla. But suddenly Kei steps stopped when his body hit someone.

"Bugg!" Kei and Layla almost fall but Kei can still hold Layla's body and body from falling.

"Capture her! a burly man shouted from behind.

Kei was immediately arrested without having dodged by the two men in stout stature.

"Dele !" Kei tried to rebel but Kei's energy was unable to keep up with the two burly men.

Layla, who sees Kei arrested, tries to help Kei. Layla bites off one of the men's arms but all Layla does is go to waste. From the back of Layla's collar was pulled and thrown backwards. Layla almost fell if Anita did not quickly catch Layla's body.

" Mom?" Layla looked at Anita's cold face expressionlessly. While Kei continued to rebel and try to escape the grip of the two burly men.

Abdul slaps Kei on the cheek, leaving Kei speechless. Her cheeks were hot and her ears were buzzing.

" The child does not know in profit! You went with that crazy girl, huh!" abdul looked at Kei angrily.

"Enough Dad! don't you insult Layla again!" Kei did not accept the word Abdul said saying Layla was crazy.

"You're defending that crazy girl? Kei open your eyes! that girl is not a good wife! I know what's best for you Kei!"

"Omong empty! know what Dad's about me!" Kei was getting angry at Abdul, "If you understand me, you wouldn't say dirty like that!"

Abdul put his hand on Kei's face. But this time Kei did not budge at all. The slap on his face was nothing compared to the pain of the insults on his beloved Layla.

" What is this?" Abdul looked at the money in Kei's hands and grabbed it.

"Don't Dad! that's our hard-earned money!" Kei tries to escape and wants to reclaim the money Abdul took.

"Work? work you say? I can give you more money than this!"

Abdul tore all the money in anger, to a small tear. Abdul threw the money into the air.

"Guard!"

Layla and Kei gaped at the tearing of the money that had fallen on the ground, with tears in Kei's eyes staring angrily at Abdul.

"Daddy is cruel, if I could choose. I'm gonna ask God not to be your son." Kei took a deep breath in restraining emotions. Then Kei turned his gaze to Layla who was crouching while picking up every tattered trench of money while crying.

"Mom regrets even more having a child that can't be arranged!" sela Alya growled.

"Kei is even more sorry, Mom!! kei's voice sounded vibrating.

Surya and Anita who had been silent and noticed finally spoke up.

Surya's heart melted and softened to see Kei and Layla who had great love.

"You can insult my daughter Abdul, I don't dispute that. But insulting your own flesh and blood? ck ck ck, you do not deserve to be called Dad" said Surya full of emphasis.

"Someday you'll regret it, but remember Abdul. When your regrets come. You're too late" Surya said again.

"What Om Surya said is true, Father, from today you will never find the old Kei, never will." Kei chimed in Surya's words.

Abdul slid his hand back to Kei's cheek, "shut your mouth, and now I'm going with Dad!"

"You're not my father anymore! you're not my mother anymore! Kei your son is dead!! exclaim Kei. "

Ahhhhhhhkk!!!" Kei screamed as loud as he could to release the burden inside his chest, his heart ached and felt like it was tight to breathe.

"Kei.." said Layla Lirih.

"Enough! we better get home!"

Alya could no longer bear all those fights. Alya and Abdul take Kei into the car and bring him home. Kei continued to rebel.

While Anita tries to persuade Layla to return home.

"Darling, we're home." Anita squats down and embraces Layla's shoulder.

"Mother.." said Layla Lirih, then she hugged Anita and cried a mouthful in Anita's embrace.

"Prophey dear." Anita's glassy eyes look at Surya. Surya nodded his head so that Anita calmed down and Layla.

"They're evil, Mom."

"Layla, you have to be strong, son, you have to be able to deal with all this, baby." Anita tries to strengthen Layla's heart. Though his heart was sore, his daughter was despised, and his hard-earned money was torn by a heartless man.

"We're home, baby."

Layla nodded her head, then they got up and stood up. Layla obeyed what her mother said but before that Layla said goodbye first to Nek Karsih. Nek Karsih understands what happened to Kei and Layla.

"Sir, thank you for taking care of our daughter" Anita said politely.

Nek Karsih smiled and said that Layla and Kei were like his own children.

Surya and Anita were stunned to hear Nek Karsih's words. Surya realizes that Layla cannot be separated from Kei. But what power if Abdul doesn't approve.

Layla nodded her head, again she hugged Nek Karsih for a moment, "i'm coming home to Nek."

Nek Karsih nodded his head, then he drove Layla and her parents to the shop yard.

Layla and her parents got into the car, and waved at Nek Karsih. Layla looked at Nek Karsih and all her memories from inside the car. Tears came down with tears washing his hands.

" Layla baby, don't cry anymore." Anita embraces Layla's shoulders.

"What's my fault, ma'am" Layla said.

"You're not wrong, dear." Anita takes a tissue and rubs Layla's tears.

"Then why do we have to be like this, ma'am?" ask Layla again.

Anita can only be silent, as a mother and a woman who has experienced falling in love. Of course you know how Layla is feeling right now. Anita can only give a hug to calm Layla down.

Three hours later, Surya finally reached his yard. They got out the car door and entered the house. Layla went straight into the room without saying a word. While Anita and Surya sat in the dining chair.

"Is Neng Layla okay, Mom?" ask Mbok Darmi.

"Yes Mbok, Layla's in the room." Anita glanced for a moment at Mbok Darmi and Mang Usman.

"Mbok, please make me coffee" said Surya.

"Good Sir." Mbok Darmi immediately made coffee, then after that he put it on the table.

"Thank you, Mock." Surya stared at Mbok Darmi for a moment.

"Oya Mbok, make warm milk for Layal, if Mbok is not tired." Anita Brdiri stared at Mbok Darmi.

"Of course not Mom, Mom just rest, let me deliver warm milk to Neng Layla's room" replied Mbok Darmi.

"Thank you Mbok." Then Anita took her foot into the room. While Surya was still sitting in a chair remembering the incident at Puncak Bogor and the event made his chest tight.

Meanwhile, Abdul's family has reached his home. They entered the house and threw Kei's body onto a sofa in the living room.

"Once again you dare to run away, I'll cut off your legs!" abdul was still angry with Kei's attitude.

"Do Dad, whatever you can do to me, what matters is that you and Mom are happy!" Kei got up and stood up.

"It's all because of that crazy girl! he's already a bad influence!" Abdul again accused others of what happened.

"Enough!" exclaim Kei. "It's not Layla who's crazy, but you guys who don't have hearts!!"

This time it was Alya who slapped Kei, "the bastard!" exclaim Alya.

"Guard! bring this kid in!" abdul's exclaim ordered two of his guards to drag Kei and lock him in the room.

The two men nodded their heads, then they stepped closer to Kei to take him forcibly.

"No need! I can do it myself!" Kei clasped his hands and turned his feet towards the room.

Alya and Abdul looked at Kei's back with faces full of anger.

"We're speeding up their marriage." Abdul looked at Alya.

Alya nodded her head, then she sat on the sofa and leaned back her body. He feels very tired and dizzy to manage his child. Kei was considered rebellious and changed into a dissident since he knew Layla. In the past, Kei was a quiet and obedient child. Anita nodded at her temple, and then she got up and stood up.

"I'll rest first sir." Alya turned back and then stepped into the room, after Surya after asking his men to remain vigilant guarding Kei.
