Chapter 74 S2 Is Not Fair

"What's the matter, Kay?" asked Melani who was still curious because Kayla was called to the Boss room when there was Kalandra inside.

Kayla is confused as to what to answer. Honest talk was impossible as he was called to sign a marriage contract agreement between himself and Kalandra.

Melani took a look at Kayla's face. "Don't tell me she's your boyfriend?" ask Melani. "Sir Kalandra's not your girlfriend, is she Kay?"

Kayla gasps. He swallowed and nodded slowly. "Yes, he's my girlfriend, ma'am!"

Admit it, I will marry that man. Inner Kayla.

Melani rounded her eyes. He did not believe Kayla's confession. When news of Kalandra being accused of being a same-sex lover, Kayla even claimed to be the man's girlfriend.

Melani gets closer to Kayla who seems worried about her behavior. "So, are you really Kalandra's boyfriend?"

Kayla nodded back. "Yes... Why mbak? Any issues?" asked Kayla who still looked nervous.

Melani sighed. "Is that why you were appointed secretary of Mr. Jendra?" accuse Melani.

Kayla rounded her eyes. He did not expect his lie to even boomerang for himself.

"Of course not" Kayla replied in a flat tone as she was offended.

"I can be in this position because of my hard work. Because of my persistence, not because of that guy."

"That guy?" Melani peeks at Kayla's face again as the girl in front of her calls her own boyfriend a stranger.

"Yes, that man." Kayla knows, Melani found an awkwardness.

"Don't say his name. We've been dating in secret, nobody knows, Mom!"

Melani just shut up. All this time he never knew that his boss' best friend was dating one of the staff in this company.

Melani shrugged her shoulders indifferently. He refused to interfere. If Kayla says they're dating in secret, it means there's something underlying their decision.

Either because Kalandra is a CEO or because Kayla is just an ordinary person.

"Yes, it's up to you not to interrupt work."

Kayla breathed a sigh of relief making Melani laugh. "Don't forget the invitation if you get married later" Melani joked.

I'm not sure they're going to get to the wedding. Because of that kind of relationship I'm sure it won't last long. How can those who do not go public will last while those who are clearly tied to marriage can still be seized. Inner Melani while walking towards her work desk.

"What?" Melani is shocked to receive the invitation Kayla gave her at her desk.

"Not for two weeks did you acknowledge your relationship with Mr Kalandra, now you've given me an invitation?"

"I did not expect, I just got a colleague, and it looks like I will work alone again" said Melani sadly.

Kayla laughs. "I'll keep working, ma'am! Just relax."

Kayla laughed making him frown. Is there something wrong with my words?

"Nobody can guarantee our future, Ma'am. And it's not impossible that our marriage will run aground in the middle of the road."

"At least if that happens, I have my own money. So, there's no harm in me saving up for my day."

Today, Jendra asked Melani to reschedule the meeting schedule because Kayla's wedding will be held this weekend.

Some meeting schedules are accelerated because usually Jendra will invite him during meetings outside. While no one stayed at the office while Kayla was on leave.

Melani nodded in confirming. If he was in Kayla's position maybe he would have done the same.

Melani knows, Kayla's a good girl. He could see from how Kayla had behaved to him.

"I don't think I'm coming, sir!" melani said later.

"Why?" ask Jendra.
