Chapter 38 Meeting Leo

Jendra and Melani. Kalandra and Kayla took turns bathing because it was late afternoon.

"Why pretend to laugh when you're nervous, Mom?" asked Kayla who was sitting on the edge of the bed facing the makeup mirror where Kalandra was sitting on her back.

He saw Kayla's reflection in the mirror. Their eyes locked onto each other. Kalandra who cut off the gaze first because she could not see the beautiful eyes of the girl.

"Pretend what?" tanyakanya.

Kayla smiled slanted. "Laughter with Mr. Jendra."

"Since noon you seem restless and when Jendra comes you laugh constantly."

"I guess the laugh was just pretend. You're trying to shift your mind, aren't you?"

"No. I'm really laughing." refuted Kalandra.

Kayla grins. "Suppit. I'm not gonna force you to admit it."

"But for sure. I know, there's a bad thing that happened that Mama screamed earlier, right?" ask Kayla.

Kalandra. He looked at Kayla and nodded. He couldn't hold tightness in his chest. He couldn't resist many questions in his brain. He could not face this confusion himself.

"Mama... Looks like mom has a secret I can't know, Kay!"

Kalandra told me what happened this morning. Kayla did not know at all because she remained in the room even though she heard vaguely what was happening in her in-laws room.

"What do you think, Kay? Do I obey your mother's wishes or do I keep seeing that man?"

Kayla sighed. "Can't you talk to the three of you? At least everything will be done in a fine way."

Kalandra. "Mama said the man was very reckless and dangerous."

"You're talking about this well with your mom. Ask him what has actually happened in the past to still impact the present."

"You ask, what exactly is the purpose of that man named Leo? Mama you know, Mama."

Kalandra shook her head slowly. "Free, mama doesn't want any stories."

Kayla was silent for a moment. He tried to guess what happened that Kalandra did not know.

"Is it possible that the man was angry at you because you didn't want to see him, Mom?"

Kalandra looked at Kayla questioningly. "I've seen and heard my mom talk on the phone. It was as if she was refusing to see a man. Yeah, I'm sure a guy because mom called her interlocutor "Mas"."

"Mama reasoned because there was Oma in this house."

"But why would he terrorize you by threatening to hurt me?" ask Kalandra.

"That means, you mean a lot to me in that man's eyes, Mas!"

Kalandra eyes are round. Means to mama? My relationship with my mom has been disharmonious. How could that man think that I meant so much to my mother?

"That means that the man knows that mom loves you very much, Mom."

"No way Kay! You know for yourself how my relationship with my mother." Kalandra denied.

"Mama is crying by hugging you, Mas. Mama forbade you to see Leo. That should be enough to prove that you're precious to mama."

"Then, what's the guy's goal, Kay?"

Kayla shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe my mother's treasure. or. this family's suffering."

"Okay if that's the goal. But what caused him to want the destruction of this family?"

Kayla nodded weakly. His forehead was wrinkled sign he was thinking hard. "A kind of revenge, isn't it?" tanyakanya.

"Or hurt..."

Kalandra kept quiet and thought of Kayla's words.

"It'll be clearer if I see that guy."

"You better not be alone, Mom. Too dangerous." bans Kayla.

"You worried about me, Kay?" Kalandra looked at Kayla's face.

Kayla suddenly became wrong to stay because her face was noticed by Kalandra.

"Bu-not. It's not so, Mom." Kayla nervous.

"You have to think about Oma and your family. If something happens, they must be sad and troubled."

"Think of the company and the thousands of people who depend on you, Mas."

Kalandra nodded. He smiled to himself when he realized Kayla was worried about him.

"Mama..."

"Mom..."

"What's up, Kay?" riana asked who looked panicked as Kayla called out to him with a shout.

"What's up, Kayla!" Oma also came out from inside the room.

"Omom, mama... Mas Kalandra's gone."

Two different women of that generation rounded their eyes. They did not hear the sound of Kalandra's car because they had slept well.

"Where are you going?" riana began to panic.

"Mas Kalandra will meet Leo, Ma!" Kayla was worried because Kalandra was going alone. The man was also not seen carrying a weapon to protect himself.

"Jeez Andra!" Upset Riana. "My mom told me not to see Leo."

"Mama will catch up with him."

"Don't, Ri!" ban Oma who looks calmer.

"Can't Ma. I'm not gonna let Andra see Leo." Riana went into her room to change clothes.

Kayla also returned to her room. He changed his clothes and put on his shoes.

"Kayla's coming, Ma." Kayla chases after Riana who is about to go out.

Meanwhile, Oma was no longer visible. Maybe the woman went into the room.

"You're home."

"No, Ma. Kayla has to come!" Force Kayla. He only hopes that the martial arts he mastered can help Kalandra later.

"As far as you are!" Riana got out and they got into the car.

"Are you sure Andra went there?" ask Riana.

Kayla nodded. "Related, Ma."

"Why don't you ban it?" angry Riana.

It was no wonder why Kayla knew everything. He believes Kalandra must have told his wife everything.

"Kayla doesn't know, Ma. Mas Kalandra said she would look for food in the kitchen. But, Kayla instead saw Kalandra wearing a leather jacket and driving a car."

Kayla saw him as she stood on the balcony of the room. He can't sleep tonight. He knew Kalandra was out of the room and wearing only short jeans and a t-shirt. He did not know where the man got the leather jacket he was wearing. Probably from a garage where there are some of his motorcycles.

"Ck!" Riana clucked.

"Call him now!" riana's orders with a trenchant tone.

Kayla understands, it is a form of panic for someone to know that a loved one is in danger. Just like him who often yells at taxi drivers or doctors when his father is sick.

"Not lifted, Ma."

"Try on!" riana's orders again.

Kalandra drove her car at a moderate speed. The travel time to the old building that became the destination is only 20 minutes. He deliberately wanted to come late and see if the man named Leo really came or not.

Kalandra didn't want to wait. He should be awaited by the person who is trying to hurt himself.

The phone in his pocket is shaking. " Yourself!" muttered. He put his phone back in his jacket pocket.

"Sorry Kay, sorry Ma. I had to see Leo."

"Finding out who Leo is through Clara is a waste. That woman would have lied. And anyway, I don't want to give Clara a chance to get back in my life."

Kalandra scratched her chin. "If I'm precious to you, why have you been acting this way to me?"

"What distance was your mother creating between us just to protect me?"

"Twenty years is a long time. If you wanted to, Leo could've wiped me out." He recalled, when Leo tried to make Kalandra doubt who her real father was when she was 10 years old.

"And thirteen years ago. He reappeared. And I saw her with Clara."

"Is it possible that Clara is a mother's daughter with him?" Kalandra. "Our birth date is only 2 months different. So there's no way Clara's a mama's son."

"But, can't someone's date of birth be faked?"

Kalandra turned her car towards a building that was no longer in use.

A man was standing in front of him. The glare of the car lights did not make the man feel glare at all.

Kalandra kept getting closer. "Leo!" he whispered as he saw Leo standing up as if challenging himself.
