After a few days after the wedding reception, Jendra and Melani still did not return to Jakarta or return to Jendra's parents' house in the city.
Both choose to spend time together to explore some tourist attractions, even they just sunbathing or swimming with small fish.
Like this afternoon, the two chose to walk around the beach. The number of beach visitors who wear minimal clothes makes Melani uncomfortable.
"Don't tell me that the sunglasses are to cover your eyes and see the twin hills strewn about, Mas!" melani whispered to the man walking beside her.
Jendra stopped stepping, making the Melani he was holding also stop.
Jendra looked at Melani. He lowered his glasses slightly until they stuck in the middle of his nose. He peeked at his wife.
"This eye just wants to stare at you, baby!"
Melani laughs. "I don't believe."
Jendra moved his lower lip. He let go of their hands. "We'll just lock ourselves up in the cottage, yuk!"
"Smuck me, get slandered all the time!" Jendra pretended to sulk.
Melani pulls Jendra's nose and returns to her husband's hand.
"Come on!" Melani pulls Jendra who is still sculpting.
"Mas!"
Jendra.
Funny but annoying! Melani's mind was staring at Jendra with almost fused eyebrows.
"Hit! I'm just happy!" Melani releases Jendra's hand. "Nobody will disturb my sleep tonight" said Melani, walking away from her husband.
"Darling! Baby, wait!" Jendra widens the pace of pursuing Melani.
Melani laughed and ran until accidentally her body hit an old woman who was walking.
"God! Sorry, Grandma!" Melani was shocked when something in her hand got stuck in the knit outer that the old woman, who was about 80 years old, was wearing.
The old woman saw something stuck in her clothes. Melani tried to remove the thread stuck in the necklace of her parents that she wrapped around her wrist.
I don't know why, he wanted to wear it. Because the necklace was too short to wear on the neck, he eventually made it as a bracelet.
"Darling, are you okay?" Jendra approached and tried to remove the thread stuck in Melani's bracelet.
"It's okay, Mom. Just stuck."
"Next time, be careful!" Jendra managed to untie the strangled thread.
"You're disturbing others."
Jendra and Melani were astonished when they saw the old woman was staring at the bracelet and Melani's face alternately.
"Mr. .. Grandma is okay?" asked Melani who looked at the old woman's face closer.
"Sir, is Grandma okay?" Jendra was more astonished when the woman looked shocked to see Melani.
Jendra took him to sit on a bench not far from where they were standing.
The woman, according to him, made Jendra sure something was going on with her.
"Grandmother why?" ask Jendra. "I'm sorry my wife has taken my grandmother by surprise. Does grandma feel pain in the chest? Or is Grandma's heart not okay?" ask Jendra who is worried that the grandmother has a heart attack.
"Mas, he is still conscious" whispered Melani telling Jendra that the old woman was fine.
"Bo-can I see your bracelet?"
Melani and Jendra looked at each other. What's with the bracelet Melani wears? Does this woman like it and want to ask for it, or buy it?
Melani nodded and showed the bracelet without taking it off. Melani shows her wrist in front of the woman.
"Good, right?" ask Melani.
The woman looked at Melani with a teary face. He held Melani's hand and looked at the bracelet carefully. The woman tried to open her locket.
"It can be opened?" ask the woman.
Again Jendra and Melani were astonished, after looking interested in the bracelet that Melani was wearing, why now the woman knew that the locket could be opened.
Jendra nodded and helped open the butterfly's wings. He did not know if this old lady had the same thing or maybe even knew something about the pendant.
The woman closed her mouth in surprise. Slowly the tears just escaped.
"Where did you get this thing?" ask Melani.
"I-this is from ..." Melani hesitated to answer. He doesn't know whether to be honest or not. He found it a little strange to tell his past to someone he just met.
Melani felt the woman was really waiting for an answer from her.
"It's mine, Grandma. Giving my parents."
"Where are your parents, son?" ask the woman again.
"Ac ..." Melani looked at Jendra.
"He was raised in an orphanage. And it's been with him since he was found." Jendra who answered because he could not bear to realize Melani felt pain to tell it.
The woman took a deep breath. "How old are you, son?"
"Thirty years."
The woman was crying. Her tears spilled and she wiped with her arms covered outer.
"Mom, what's the matter?" asked Melani holding the arm that was shaking because the woman was crying.
"Does grandma have the same necklace? Or is grandma thinking of someone who has a necklace like this?"
"Or grandma ...."
"Mishela Aurora."
Jendra and Melani gulp down realizing the name called by the woman had the same initials written inside her pendant.
Mishela Aurora's? What's that name? What is the name of the owner of this necklace? Or is this necklace not mine, but an item that was lost and fell and was found by my parents before putting me in an orphanage?
Jendra was equally surprised. He also had a lot of questions on his mind about who this old lady really was? And who is Mishel Aurora?
"Can you come with me for a minute?" asked the old woman after her crying subsided.
Melani and Jendra looked at each other. Melani felt that something was stuck in her heart so she was eager to come along and find out the answer to her curiosity.
While Jendra began to feel anxious. What does this grandma want to ask us to come? Does she know anything about the necklace? What is the secret behind all this?
Melani is deliberately thrown away to be saved, or thrown away for fear of not being taken care of? What if Melani was thrown out so she wouldn't be killed?
Jendra's mind gets messed up when he gets scared that all this is just a trap.
Jendra silently watched the woman's face. Is she Melani's mother? She is about 80 years old, while Melani is 30. Can a woman give birth at age 50?
"Don't be afraid!" said the old woman. "I have no evil intentions."
"I want to show you guys something at my house."
"Not far from here, only about 20 minutes on foot."
Melani looked at her husband for an opinion. Should they come or not?
