Jendra opened the back door of his car and immediately dropped off many paper bags containing items he would share with the children at the orphanage.
Some parlor attendant, took her inside. While Jendra, still cool looking around. A simple house that became a childhood home for Melani, with a two-meter-high wall fence surrounding the yard of this fairly spacious house.
This building looks more like a kindergarten because in the yard there are many means of playing, call it swings, seesaw boards and slides.
Some children were also playing, running and laughing. But, instantly they stopped doing the activity and stared at it.
But, the appearance of Melani standing next to him made all the seven-man children scurry to hug the girl beside him.
"Yet Meeell!" Shouted them excited.
"Side kangeeen!"
"Crazy too..."
"Mimi also miss Mel!"
They called their names along with expressions of longing. Jendra lowered his head to the side, as Melani was crouching with the children who were struggling spoiled on her body.
"Kids, let Brother Mel in first, baby!" A woman keeps the children away from Melani's body. Not to go, but to hold Melani's hand and lead her in.
Jendra followed their footsteps as Melani gave the code to come along.
Jendra went into a simple house with hundreds of photos displayed in every corner of the room. Starting from photos that look new to those that are outdated.
Jendra sighed, how much he had been lacking in gratitude all this time. In a house no wider than the living room in his house, he realized his life was more than enough.
They both met with the caretaker. The woman, who is about 60 years old, welcomed Melani with a warm hug.
Her tears were unceasingly dripping despite Melani showing her wide smile. The woman in the wheelchair rubbed Melani's hair.
"May God always take care of you, my little daughter!"
Melani smiled but her tears kept dripping. "Mom need not be afraid. Mother's prayer was so wonderful that I am still strong today."
Melani has not come for a long time because of her busyness. Melani massaged the legs of the woman who had raised him.
"It's always good, Mom."
Melani looks at Jendra and asks the man to kneel beside her.
The woman he called the mother looked at Melani questioningly, but unabashedly smiled as well. Because if her guess is correct, Melani is introducing her to the girl's future husband.
Melani clasped the wrinkled-looking hand. "Mom, Melani came to introduce the man in front of this mother."
"She's Melani's future husband, ma'am."
"He's the man Melani believes in keeping Melani."
The woman nodded. "Titip Melani, Son ...."
"His name is Jendra, Mom."
"Son Jendra, take your little daughter. She's a very wonderful woman." The old woman rubbed Melani's hair affectionately.
"He never forgot us even though he hadn't lived here for a very long time."
"He doesn't forget the mother, the father and the other mother."
"She didn't even forget her sisters even though they came in and out."
Jendra nodded. "I asked for the blessing to make her my wife, Mom."
"Thank you for taking care of my soul mate so well."
"Thank you for making her a strong and great woman. A woman who is independent and can take care of herself."
The chat lasted not long because the children urged to play with Melani.
Jendra handed over the check with a sizable nominal. Initially rejected by the old woman. But Melani asks that she accept Jendra's gift.
"Take Mom, for the children's needs."
Melani read the story to children aged five to seven years before they took a nap.
After that, Melani also invited Jendra to play with the baby who was under two years old. The number of babies there are some people who whine and cry lightly because it is time to drink milk.
Again Jendra was amazed. How could the orphanage mothers take care of this many children?
Jendra took a long breath. *Where are your parents, little brothers? Why would they leave you?
Was Melaniku like this when I was a baby. Crying and never getting the hug of her biological mother*?
A single tear escaped at the corner of Jendra's eye. Melani rubbed the man's shoulder. "A benefactor like you is enough to make their smile come out, Mas."
"At least a little giving you can keep their milk bottles filled."
Jendra nodded. He didn't know it felt this amazing. His feelings go up and down. Sad, happy, comforted, compassionate, sympathetic, and moved into one.
"Can we adopt some of them, Mel?" jendra asked as they were on their way home.
Melani nodded. "Can, as long as it qualifies, Mas."
"Why? You want to adopt them?" ask Melani.
"Four crossed my mind, Mel."
Melani smiles. "Think about it, Mommy."
"Taking care of the child is not easy. If you adopt then you leave the affairs of the children to their nannies, it's better not to."
"What they need is not just to eat a drink, but also affection."
"You adopt one man, then you give him a nanny and you give them a place to live like a golden cage."
Melani laughs. "I think living in a parlour is much better than being in your house, Mom."
"If time, and your affection you can't give, you better not."
"Not that I forbid, but the kids won't be happy if you do that."
Jendra nodded. "You're right, Mel. Not to mention, if we have children of our own. Can I be fair?"
"Well, it's also going to be a problem in the future, ma'am."
"Your giving is enough for them."
"Let them be adopted by a new family that really wants them, Mas. Not just out of pity."
"I find it very funny that there are a lot of children at home."
"I want five kids, Mel."
Melani surprised. His eyes are perfectly round. "Li-five?" tanyanya.
Jendra smiled and nodded. He looked at Melani by moving his eyebrows up and down. "You agree, don't you, baby?"
Melani patted her forehead. "You think I'm like a cat, Mom? ask Melani.
"I'm not young anymore to give birth to five children, Mas."
Jendra laughs. "I'm just kidding, baby!"
"Where might I make you like a child's factory. Even when God doesn't give, it doesn't matter!"
"Huush!" Melani hits Jendra on the shoulder. "Be careful when you talk, Mom."
"Pray, may God give us a chance to have a child."
"When are we going to your parents' house, Mom?" ask Melani.
"Not yet, baby!"
